Franchute
What is your opinion about the new upgrade for Montresor? Do you think he is now playable?
Memnaelar
Well, now, that's an interesting question. What's the Montresor upgrade do exactly?
Franchute
Is it allowed to reveal it here?
Memnaelar
I think posting the exact wording *might* be frowned upon (and posting lengthy stat blocks of cards would almost definitely be) but as Ripples of Fate is now out and *spoiler* discussions are all over the Forums, I think you can safely discuss what the upgrade does without any issues. Franchute
Basically it gives hard to wound and any model in base contact with him must discard a card to attack him.
Memnaelar
*whistle* Is that 1 SS or 2? Either way, that's really nice and will definitely at least open up the option.
Franchute
It's even less than that
Memnaelar
WUT. Well, Montresor was my first painted model and my worst. Because I figured I'd never play him. Time to get the paint stripper and put him back to work.
daniello_s
It gives him a bit survivability put still it will be hard to compete with 10SS choices in Outcast family.
Memnaelar
Likely true, but I think it at least sucks up a ton of resources to deal with him. Plus, pairing him with Jaakuna can make for a pair of good tar pits or one *especially* nasty tar pit.
daniello_s
He is still very fragile when targeted against his low Wp. If this was Hard to Kill instead of HtW then it would be ok. Or if it was some kind of (0)AP 1/2/3 healing action. Still I'm not sold to this gentleman.
Memnaelar
I think it's the discard-to-attack element that really needs consideration. Draining those cards when your opponent wants them elsewhere will make for a painful round or two of trying to kill him. I'm not sure that he'll always be optimal but he's not an auto-skip for me now.
decker_cky
Against targets where his terrifying 12 comes into play (living models), he'll really burn through your opponent's hand.

Cinnamon Bear
I really like the Montresor model, so this definitely makes me happy. Looking forward to picking him up later this year

It seems like great news if one wishes to play a territory based crew.
Blacks85
no, it doesn't give him a chance to compete toward other models. Not even close. They must give him more Wounds and something like hard to kill, then he might have a chance
admiralvorkraft
He needed Terrifying (All) anything else makes him a really situational pick, or an expensive codependent one. The upgrade is a major step in the right direction though, so I'll give it some play time.

Mikey_C
Hard to wound is pretty great. Especially on a def 6 model. It also eases the burden on his WP4, because now you only need to finish within 10 of the opponent to put them on a flip for damage. He'll still get hit just as often, but it shouldn't be as hard and it will have a much lighter burden on your hand.
Axelst
Enemies in base contact must discard a card whenever the declare an attack action, even if he isn't the target, so with the upgrade he can increase the resilience of other friendly models near him as well.
Manxfaux
Hmm, could make for a really disruptive Tara Bomb with Fearful Whispers added too....
Rathnard
I think Montressor will really find his place in Misaki crews. He can push Misaki up the board if needed (for 1 dg) but most importantly, he puts alot of pressure on the opponent's hand. That'll help alot with Misaki's Assassination trigger.
Trample
Any other models in outcasts get upgrades to help them out? I can't think of any off the top of my head that really needed them.
