tadaka
So what do you take for headhunter mission. I have been having issues killing the models and then done with activation other crew walks over and picks the damn things up because they get to pick to some extent where the marker goes. Is there a 10t model that works well for this to look at?
Lakshman
To prevent other crew's models from picking the marker up, you can use anything with 2 or 3 - after killing enemy model, place the head marker wholly within your engagement range. Engaged models can't pickup markers, so they would need to kill your model or push it away (unless they have "Don't mind me" rule). Izamu, Lone Swordsman, Torakage, 10T brother and most of the masters have at least 2 range. For picking the marker up, one option is to take McCabe and a Guild Austringer. Once you've killed something off, you can use Austringer's (2) Deliver orders action to pick up the head marker.

Patzer
Thunder Brothers are pretty great in HH with their potential place-teleport or 4" ml. Yu and Shenlong can walk great distances and then interact for a Focus with Calm Air Thunderous Voice (I think its called that). Yu can airburst models towards him for other models to pick off. Mr Graves can in a similar fashion throw models towards the bulk of your crew with Show You The Door.

OneLittleThunder
Mr. Tannen can be extraordinarily annoying for opponents with his Chatty aura, which prevents them from picking up head markers (or otherwise taking Interact actions) within 6" of him. Bear in mind that he has to activate to turn that on, though, so his Manipulative goes away and he becomes much more vulnerable. Performers are very useful for both luring opponents into a kill box and picking up heads in the middle of a fight. And I agree with the earlier posts on Austringers and 10 Thunder Brothers. Inquisitor Wall
I love izamu as most of the time he wont drop a head and has a 3" engagement. Yu is great with his focus rule, and air burst. I actually find 10T excel at head hunter.

Rurouni Benshin
Misaki is probably one of the best models for Headhunter, as far as being a soloist is concerned. Provided she has AP remaining after killing a model and dropping a head marker, she can push towards it with her "Next Target" trigger. If you're playing the Emissary as well, and are within range of "The Thunder Calls", that generally will get you the AP you need to pick it up. Other good options are Shenlong and Sensei Yu (with the right styles, that is), who can use "Focus" conditions as (1) Interact actions. The timing of "Next Target" and dropping a head marker is disputed, and unresolved. See the following threads, all of which nest within each other, and lack consensus.

Phototropic
From a reser perspective I've found yan lo pretty good at head hunter and with ten thunders movement tricks I would imagine he only gets better, like @Inquisitor Wall mentioned izamu is great since he usually doesn't drop a head and yan lo can bring him back to let them waste their time again, also the old man can teleport the enemy into your guys making it easier to place the head behind your lines, its nice being able to force them to come to you as it makes it easier to sit on top of the heads they lopped off preventing them scoring. Also yin is pretty good at tying up the opponents heavy hitters reducing the number of heads you drop, and when they finally take her down you can just bring her back for more fun. Eclipse
In addition, Wastrels have a trigger on their melee attack '...And then he strolled away', Asami Tanaka will have many pushes and the trigger 'Hide in Shadow' to move after hitting, etc. I also don't mind taking a Beckoner with Lynch to Lure over the targets early; then later push into base contact with the Head Marker and take it after Luring.
