I PM'ed Nathan with a suggestion, but I figure I'd post it here as well.

I was thinking a Russian/Slavic box might be neat.

They have a myth about Lady Midday, who would pester people out in the fields, and if they didn't answer, or were rude, she'd shear their heads off or cut them down with her scythe. She would also cause heat stroke. She would make a good Jaakuna Ubume alt.

Koischi the Deathless was a knight who took out his heart and or soul and hid it in a needle, hidden in an egg, which was in a duck... Basically, he's an immortal, ruthless knight. He's meant to look haggard as hell. Perhaps he'd be a good Bad Juju?

Just tossing this out here: Baba Yaga's hut as a hooded rider? He does carry people about...

No, both places have a requirement that you list the ingredients in supplements.

AFAIK you can claim whatever you want about the effects of the product in the US. Possibly you ought to include a fine-print that this effect hasn't been scientifically proven or else you might get sued, I suppose. But you need to have the ingredients listed. If it is 100% salt, your list of ingredients has to read: "Salt".

But you could off course call it "Special Gabba Gabba salt with documented effects* on you health"....

If you're struggling with incontinence, hairloss, premature ejaculation, stress, tiredness, fatigue or death, try our wonderful supplement based on our proprietary Gabba Gabba salt...

I find this extremely unlikely. What is your source on this?

This is simply wrong. The law requires that you'd label its ingredients.

IN reverse order, here's a short punch on nutrition, noting that they don't investigate unless there are sever injuries/death... if your miracle supplement just doesn't *do* anything, they don't go after you. At the 10 minute mark, they also note that one in three products don't have the stuff in them that they claim. This is, of cours,e lightened up for comedy (it's Jon Oliver after all) but is a starter package. There's a LOT more reading to be done on the subject, and this isn't really the place for a big talk about it.

As for e-cigarettes, there's a bit from two years ago here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/14/business/international/chinas-e-cigarette-boom-lacks-oversight-for-safety-.html?_r=0

At that time, they were focused more on the physical devices, which have heavy metal issues and virtually no oversight, but thre's a bit at the end about the liquid used.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/24/business/selling-a-poison-by-the-barrel-liquid-nicotine-for-e-cigarettes.html

This one mentions that the FDA hadn't been regulating the e-cigarette industry at all (and some dangers of the liquid in general, again with a mention of Chinese methodology and the lack of regulation there).

The exact reference for the e-cigarette liquid's hiding from me at this early hour of the morning, but if you start researching the 'dead rivers' of China, you'll run into it eventually. With over 40% of the surface water and more than 60% of the groundwater being unfit for human consumption there, they've been getting ... inventive.

Regardless, as noted, we're WAY off topic at this point, so, hopefully these leads will send you looking for more information on your own. Time to hop back into Malifaux-related stuff for me. I still need to stat up the Rosebloods and Malifaux Flytraps for a different thread.

After reading, I also vote Koischi. Anyone determined/crazy/sadistic enough to get an egg back in a duck certainly qualifies for "Twisted Alternative".

He then put that duck into a Rabbit, which was placed in a Goose, iirc. I guess Russians learned nesting dolls from their heroes

I always had this idea of a Ronald Mcdonald themed Hamelin crew, what with all the kids and rats etc... But that's copyrighted. A generic fast food brand could work, but it doesn't really fit into Malifaux.

A better idea would be an alternate death marshal, where the marshals are replaced with magicians, and the coffin is a magician's trick box. One of them could be sawing a box in half with a zombie inside, another could have the magician putting swords into the box, etc..

I think I've wanted this since the Wave 2 Beta (about the same time I first saw Kung Fu Panda 2), but I'd love a Kung Fu Panda edition!

  • Shenlong - Po, who else, really?
  • Peasants  - Mr. Ping & Shang (the two geese, Po's dad & the temple assistant)
  • Sensei Yu  - Master Shifu
  • Lone Swordsman - Tigress, the best of the Furious Five
  • Monk of Wandering River - Crane, he's a bird, it suits...
  • Monk of High River - Viper, didn't suit anywhere else
  • Monk of Fermented River - Monkey, likes a bit of fun & the good stuff!
  • Monk of Low River - Mantis, acupuncture specialist, this fits quite well

Unfortunately, due to silly concerns like copyright, my dream of seeing this will probably never come true, but I'd seriously love it!

Oh by all means please continue to Wyrd up fairy tales.

 - Jack and Jill (Changelings? Kade and Candy?)

 - Jack and the Candle Stick (Iggy, Fire Gaimen)

 - Humpty Dumpty (Perhaps a Flesh Construct or Rogue Necromancy? Fun fact: never in the poem is it stated that it's an egg).

Mmm... something from  "The Muppets show" related?? We have plenty of pigs, amphibious... Maybe a Desolation engine/Lord Chompy (I think we have enough Teddy versions) inspired in a certain blue, mad, cookie addict monster?? The "Sesame Street" twisted alternative idea, gave me the weirdest boner ever. One man can dream...

(Sorry for my english)

Actually, thinking about it, the Island of Dr. Moreau would be a funny twist on Marcus.  Could be Alt models of various named characters, turned into the beast that Marcus normally takes.  That'd be pretty elaborate though, and most likely not a joke people would really get, but it could be some cool models :P if you're into that sort of thing.

I wonder if Wyrd would ever consider doing fan-fare "skins" models for some of the models.  I know the Nightmare and Miss models are totally a thing, but I'm sure people would go bananas for alternates of their favorites, like generic Halloween costume party or such.  But I guess in digital games, Skins can only come after getting the original, and here, they would instead represent a competing "purchase" slot for the buyer, if they wanted the alt and didn't care about getting the crew box at all, so I dunno how that works for physical models like that.  But it'd be freakin' cool

Rumpelstiltskin would probably be a suitably "dark" tale for Malifaux to twist :P plus he has a sweet name.

Or a few characters from Wonderland (Of the Alice's famed travels).  Cheshire Cat chief among them.  Although it would be funny to see "living cards" of the suits in malifaux, that work for a twisted queen and court, so that would be a cool little mini-adventure in it's own.  Imagine having to fight and encounter box of those card-guards, with a small crew starting in the center, and the Queen's force just trying to "cut off your head" :P I think that'd make for a fun malifaux game, if the models were suitably do-able.

Easy choice, an evil St. Nick.

Who is he an alt for? Mc Tavish (Officially titled NicTavish)

Twisted St. Nick for the McTavish part, twisted reindeer (Rudolph, naturally) in place of the gator. Three other reindeer on 40mm bases that can be used as bayou gators.
