Popular Post Lucidicide
This post in a general announcement for those who participate in our forum (and really our community overall). I've updated the forum rules to reflect that you cannot post content from playtesting, even if you did not sign an NDA yourself. If you hint at content from the NDA, you will be moderated. If you straight out share it, you will be banned. I've already banned one person today. This will absolutely not be tolerated. Please don't make me take more time out of my day to deal with these issues. If you know something, don't share it. I'd much rather spend my time making games then moderating people.
dropdeadcriminal
So I question what is the line? Someone hears a rumor about something and they post it, is it removed? How about if someone says "Wouldn't it be cool if ..." and hits on something that you are testing, does that get removed (after all, who knows if it is from inside information or just someone who wants to see a cool feature in a game)? I understand I.P. is where a lot of the value is held in a company like this. And I can see justification for removing someone who violates an NDA. But, trying to mange what rumors and speculations are just that vs insider information seems unmanageable. And, keeping secrets through authoritarian means seems to not often turn out well. Popular Post Nathan Caroland
Rumors, no. What' ifs, no. Trying to be coy and acting like you are doing one or the other, yes. Linking direct to stolen or unreleased material and doing it over and over just to be an ass, yes. The line is fairly obvious. No need to really mince words or try and 'rule lawyer' it to a benefit or to twist words or intent. We don't really have time to constantly divert attention to following up on asshats intent on being .. said asshats. We know some stuff is going to get out, always does, but being an outright ass over it, creating multiple accounts and knowing you're going to get banned, that's just trolling, and we don't have the give a crap for that at the moment .. or really, ever. If in doubt, don't.
