Raspy tournament advice

Hey all,

As the title says I have a local tournament next weekend but the standard of play is supposed to be high! I am fairly new so expecting to get my arse whooped but I want to get the most out of what I have and lets be honest does anyone play to lose??

So I have:

Rasputina box

Snow storm

December Acolytes x3

Freikorps Trapper, Librarian and Specialist

That is my model pool, what I am looking for is suggestions on what to take for which strategy, we will be playing GG16, and am not adverse to buying a couple small models if I NEED too, but this is all painted and would be a pain to do more on such short notice!

Thanks in advance for your help, I know Raspy can't play all strats but any pointers are appreciated!

Rasputina can play all strats. Especially in GG16. You can put together a solid list with what you have, although you might want to get a Silent one if you have time, for healing, as with a tina crew she is better than a librarian at it.

List wise, its hard to say with out knowing the schemes as well as the stratergies. There are some schemes that you will possibly struggle with, but the acolytes and the possible movement tricks with Snowstorm and the Ice Golem, can actually make you very mobile on occasions.

I wouldn't say she's decent at everything, but she's a good enough hammer that sometimes you can even drive a screw into the board.

While the game isn't focused on killing, if you can remove enough enemy models from the board you'll have a pretty easy time scoring your own points.

For extra models, if anything I'd suggest the arcane effigy for condition removal ( plus adding burning to your ice rays is hilarious) and I'm personally partial to the essence of power for cast 8.  Down the road you might want to consider the emissary. It's good for her. Real good.

I think the ice dancer will eventually do wonders for Raspy's scheme potential, but as is she mainly relies on more of a denial mechanic than say enabling her own crew. Since ice mirrors gives her just about a board wide threat, you can always try to hit them where it hurts. And if you can't kill it, just paralyze it. If you come out swinging hard enough, it will make your life much easier when it comes to scoring since a typical Raspy crew tends to be slow.

As for current recommendations. The blessed is an excellent model as it's not only very killy, but it's insane speed makes it a great secondary scoring model to get schemes out to those hard to reach areas. Just be careful not to let yourself become too exposed as the blessed can't take a huge beating.

ran this all weekend at a tourney and took a 2nd overall, Emissary was alright but might have been better with a mech rider in place of him.
spawning ice gamin might have been more productive. his charge scheme marker ability was a fantastic tho

no worries, i am still on the fence about the emissary, the never engaged thing didn't come up as much as i thought it would. Also the subzero upset and aggravated almost every opponent!

For what its worth, the usable as an ice mirror whilst engaged pays for itself even if they never engage the model. Because if it didn't have that ability, it would almost never be usable as an ice mirror.

Blessed of December is a fast moving leaper, with decent attacks. Its an expensive scheme runner, but its more than capable of running schemes and killing your opponents scheme runners at the same time.

I got roped into playing a tournament the other week using GG16(they wanted an even number) and only brought the following 50ss Rasputina list even though the pool was 100ss and came in first. Fog is right in that she doesn't directly work every scheme. Her strength comes from being one of, if not the most, killy master in the game. In two out of three rounds, I tabled my opponents on turn 2. It's usually pretty easy to score VP if the only models on the board are friendly.

Arcanists - 50ss Crew

Rasputina -- 4SS Cache
+Arcane Reservoir - 2ss
+December's Pawn - 2ss
+Shattered Heart - 3ss

  • Wendigo - 3ss
  • Arcane Effigy - 4ss
  • Silent One - 6ss
  • Silent One - 6ss
  • Silent One - 6ss
  • Silent One - 6ss
  • Snow Storm - 11ss

I actually did ok!! (It was a while ago now so may be abit hazy ;))

Round 1 was interference vs Dreamer, and got my but handed to me 10-1

Round 2 vs Guild Lucius Extraction... Tabled him on turn 4

Round 3 Collect the Bounty vs Seamus... Tabled him turn 3!

Seems Raspy is exceptional at clearing the board, had a little bit eof trouble running the schemes as the pools weren't the most forgiving, and took Convict Labour 3 times as it seems ok with her, she can completely deny an area of the board so it makes it simpler to score than normal.

I struggled alot in the first round... Think I scored 1 for Leave your mark and that was it... Never scored a point for interference, Dreamer was all over me!

From my experience I would say that she is a great master, not alot of people expect Raspy aswell.

Happy new year everyone :)

Glad to hear you did well. Dreamer is a tough match up. His stuff is fast and pre cuddle to daydreams he could summon 3 times a turn with little need for resources and incorporeal models ignore ice pillars.  Best bet is too neutralize as many big models as possible and rely on Frozen Heart to ignore those nasty horror duels.

I think if I don't see Dreamer ever again it will be too soon!

But I think the cuddle was deserved and he is now a little bit fairer than he was ;)

I would definitely urge anyone who is stuck for a master in their next game to give Raspy a try... She definitely surprised me, she isn't a powerhouse like Ramos or Sandeep at the moment, but she is alot of fun!

I wish I had a Mech Rider for her though... I can see that thing being a really useful include for her :)
