lusciousmccabe
Does anyone else find that the model colour paints separate quite a lot when you water them down or use a wet palette? I've found with a lot of their blues and greys in particular the darker and lighter pigments seem to come out of solution at different rates. It's been kind of handy in some cases for highlighting (as the paints tend to lighten with more water added) but it's pretty awkward/annoying for keeping your colour schemes consistent. Has anyone else had this issue, or have suggestions for how to deal with it?
Nymie_the_Pooh
It happens with some paints or with any if you try to thin too much. You can use acrylic medium in place of or in addition to water. Acrylic medium is essentially the clear liquid part of the paint. Adding acrylic medium makes the paint more transparent instead of thinning the paint the way water does. I believe both Vallejo and GW sell small bottles. You can also buy larger bottles through art stores.
