James Gus
Hey Gang, Do people make/take Display Boards for Malifaux tournaments? If you do, do you put your entire faction on the board? Something seems odd about that.
mperry1701
I made a small on when I had only two masters. I love the idea but they get too big when you have most of the faction.
Artiee
Last year for Adepticon, I made one for my 2 neverborn crews and included only the models I was going to use.
James Gus
Love the Pandora's box idea! I suppose one way to get around putting an entire faction on it would be to include only masters, henchmen and perhaps enforcer models. Those tend to be the showcase models anyway. But I get the impression its just not really something that's done, eh.
Adran
A few people do, but they probably make a display board for a single crew, maybe up to 70 ss worth of models. There often isn't space to display much more than that at most events I go to
MrCheeze
ooh i thought this thread was about display boards and not tournament trays ^^
haychdee
So I'm a big fan of display boards and really enjoy making them. I'm a regular tournie player and not being the greatest tactician I often go with the intention of running for the painting comps. For a display board designed for comp purposes I say go for 7-11 models, include your big models, your best painted, and any conversions you may have. But that's just my take on it. I always enjoy looking at display boards, no matter its purpose. Here's the board I used last year for my Lucius Guild crew A here's some WIP's of other (varying) boards/displays HD
Artiee
Love those.. That giving me idead now how.. Didn't think of using foam core. I'm coming from Warhammer at Adepticon last year. There was display board/army trays all over. I didn't see a lot of them at Malifaux last year.
James Gus
Those look great. I also have come from WHFB/Adepticon and depending upon your army, a display board was almost necessary just to move around in a timely manner. But they also evolved into an almost expectation as part of your "painting" score. Just wanted to be sure that was or was not an expectation as I head towards my first Malifaux tournament. Anfalas
I've done a display board and am currently working on my second, but mostly for my own benefit. I like competing with another guy from my local store for Best Painted and Presented, but it also helps further my skills in the hobby! To answer your question though, no, I do not present the entire faction. There are way too many characters for that kind of shenanigan. However, I will happily place every model that I might consider taking in a tournament on that board. For example, the mountain display I made for my Rasputina crew:

Not really, getting every sculpt of a faction (so three of most minions etc) is roughly 100 models. Some factions/builds of 40k has more models than that in a typical army and they make display boards for them. You just have to be crazy enough.

Yeah, but you can't really bring a display that large to a Malifaux tournament, can you? It's just too large!
