Bumpasses
Evening gents and lady gents To be frank I love the model, my best paint yet, black highlighted up to alien purple.bean running her continuously to figure her out..I realize the errors usually lie on my end of the cribbage board, but I am having difficulty finding her 9pts well spent.Only bean running her with Yan, tried aggressive, tried flanker, tried scheme runner, tried terrain maker...she dies well, early and often.seems to be very hungry for my small pool of stones. curious as to how my fellow malifites are using her. all the best, -Bumpasses (never enuff time to bump them all)
Eclipse
I have only had problems with Ama no Zako when I tried to use her as a brawler (frontline model) or tank (because of her many Wd). It turned out that she isn't too survivable despite her Wd count and heal abilities. The Hard to Wound does not save her from many small attacks, or heavy hitters, therefore she ends up draining a lot of SS. However, she has many tricks and EXCELLENT mobility. Most often I use the SS I bring to give her suits now - Mask for the (0) Obey, Tome to eat a Gremlin/something Paralyzed. I rarely use her other (0) as I tend to move around a lot with Ten Thunders to keep my opponent guessing what my next move is going to be. You could use her in tandem with another big, speedy model - Hungering Darkness or Dawn Serpent are her favorite playmates in my crews They can all influence the board from a little further up then melee range. You set up something like: Move, Obey, Move for Ama no Zako to keep her in cover. Overall, be careful with her as she is a solid SS investment, don't leave her in the open - no need to burn even more SS for no reason. She and Yamaziko are probably the two top priority carriers for Smoke Grenades - the upgrade is amazing (Huggy is next on the list :P) Keep Ama away from harm at the starting turns, or if you are able to bring a model close to you, charge with her and eat it. A useful combo is (0) Obey something to walk into another model's Terrifying, then charge it to devour it Try to break up enemy positioning with movement tricks - Lure (Oiran, Performers, Beckoners if Lynch); Mr. Graves (Ger Outta the Disco!); Lust! (Smooch smooch...). When she is a scheme runner and is going to score you points, only peek out with her from time to time. Fly behind cover, don't go into enemy territory quickly. Wait for the last turn or two to do, tangle up the enemy with your other forces in the meantime - Yan Lo and gang are great at this, AND they can come back. Despite being a big, brutish Oni, she needs quite a bit of finesse and sly maneuvering to get the most out of. Cheers and good Ama no Zaking!
lusciousmccabe
Ama No Zako is often described dying easily, but I don't really get it. I'm sure a Mature Nephilim will chew through her like tissue paper, but she's mobile enough that you should be able to avoid things like that. When I've used her she's been great for scoring and can usually take on minions that get in her way but she's not really a fighter so you need to choose her battles for her.Suit dependence is her main drawback. You need to run her in a crew that isn't suit dependent and/or bring a reasonable number of soustones to make her triggers and (0) actions more reliable. Without the right suits you'll only use like half her card and then she probably isn't worth the 9SS cost. ArcticPangolin
When I've used her it's her mobility and threat that have really stood out. She has great actions (other than her middling Ml stats) that unfortunately have a number of suit requirements, which your hand is largely going to dictate how she is used from turn to turn. You could stone for the suits, but between whichever Master I am running her with and preventing damage on her it needs to be for those special moments. I had a campaign where I started with her as my Leader; she was great for getting that 10T Bounty getting kills with no SS in your pool. In an early game against Neverborn she headed up a flank, Promising Whisper'ed a Mature Nephilim away from my Pathfinder in the middle into a position where she was the only legal target to be charged by him. He subsequently black jokered the Terrifying check to do so, letting her get the first hits in. She was able to take the Flurry the next turn with some SS prevention and finish him off, then sweep around the back to the middle on cleanup duties. So in conclusion, I tend to use her as an anti-scheme-runner scheme-runner and aggressive shortstop.

So, she's like Cal Ripken: quicker than she looks, strong as heck, and always finds a way to get int he game and help?* *This joke might only work for Americans, and it still isn't that funny.
Bumpasses
I have been trying to work in that 3/5/7 damage spread she haz on her MI. Only thing she doesn't need a suit/stone for... Maybe I try her with Mccabe/Sidir///promises --pushes--, Ama/recalled. ...seems pretty devastating if you can connect. just love the model and want her to strike fear into the hearts of men....and sorrows...and nightmares....and
ArcticPangolin
And with a damage spread like that, always consider if Focusing for one attack might be a better option than taking 2 swipes, particularly if they're Df<=4. I read that as a tactic on PMF many moons ago, but for some reason my brain always says; "dood...2 attacks is better than 1 silly" not sure on statistics of it, but I should do it more. mbbe she would be better with Shen Long... If you can reliably cheat in the severe, 1 focus attack is better than two that will most likely hit weak. If you have a rj to cheat in, definitely go for the 1 focus attack. valhallan42nd
9 points of eating everyone's scheme runners, then counter scheming. Totally worth it.
