PanzerHarris
Greetings all! After the success of last year's M2GT sweepstake, it's back for the UK Nationals. The aim is the same as ever - raise money for #WAAC, have fun, and maybe, if you're exceptionally good (or bad!) at picking players, end up with a few quid for toys for next year's event! How it works is relatively simple. The entire Nationals field, all 98 players, have been grouped by where they are in the UK rankings (on malifauxrankings.com, as of today), and put into pools. These range from pool A, where you find the very best players we have to offer, golden ticket winners and Joel Henry, all the way down to pool E, where we can safely say these guys won't be saving space in the car for silverware! We also have a wildcard pool this year. Given there is a Swedish invasion, and I have absolutely no idea which of them are any good, they get their own pool... At the end of the tournament, each player gets a score equivalent to where they finished in the event. The winner gets 1 point, 2nd gets 2 points, all the way down to the wooden spoon carrier getting the maximum 98.All entries pick 1 player from each pool to form their team, and at the end of the tournament, the team with the lowest score is the winner and will net whoever made it a prize! For example, and these choices should bear no relevance to anyone's picks, the following two teams are entered; Squig All-StarsPool A: Graham BursnellPool B: Adam HutchinsonPool C: Brooks MartinPool D: Conrad GonsalvesPool E: Claire HearnWildcard: Joakim EngstromTeam TwitterPool A: Benjamin CrowePool B: Conor RooneyPool C: Dom WesterlandPool D: Mike HutchinsonPool E: Adrian MillsWildcard: Elinore RonningThe players selected finish, and the teams score, as follows; Squigs All-StarsGraham Bursnell: 53rd = 53 pointsAdam Hutchinson: 31st = 31 pointsBrooks Martin: 9th = 9 pointsConrad Gonsalves: 90th = 90 pointsClaire Hearn: 81st = 81 pointsJoakim Engstrom: 22nd = 22 pointsTotal score: 286 pointsTeam TwitterBenjamin Crowe: 2nd = 2 pointsConor Rooney: 13th = 13 pointsDom Westerland: 24th = 24 pointsMike Hutchinson: 56th = 56 pointsAdrian Mills: 97th = 97 pointsElinore Ronning: 27th = 27 pointsTotal Score: 219 pointsIn this example (and please don't hold me to these predictions, they're clearly rubbish - no way Graham Bursnell is that good), Team Twitter would win from Squigs All-Stars.Entry is very simple, and you're free to enter as many times as you like.I need your team(s) by email, PM, posted on this board or handed to me on the forms I'll have on the day. Please don't try and tweet them to me because I'm a dolt and I might miss the tweet. I must have your team(s) before round 1 starts!I also need your money. £2 by PayPal (PM me for details, I don't want to post them publicly) or handed to me on the day with your entry. Your £2 will be used as follows;- £1 straight to the Wargamers Against All Cancer charity campaign- 75p to winner's pot, to be awarded to the entrant of the lowest-scoring team- 15p to the runner up pot, to be awarded to the entrant of the second lowest team- 10p to the wooden spoon pot, to be awarded to whoever managed to put together the highest-scoring teamEven if you win, this isn't going to net you enough money to fly to Barbados or cover Rob Smith's bar tab. But it should get you some shiny new toys! And now, the pools...Pool A - The Uber Filthmongers of DoomGreg "One and Only" PiskoszMark "Dreamer" ElwoodBenjamin "King of the South" CroweGraham "BluTack" BursnellRob "Hangover" SmithPaul "Turn 2" ButlerMartin "Bearded Showgirl" WodehouseDr Maria "Queen Beyond the Wall" WielandAnt "Master" HoultJake "Golden Ticket" BarlowJoel "Papa Squig" HenryPool B - The Nearly Men (& Panzer)Ben HarrisConor RooneyJoe WoodMartin JonesPeter SidawayAaron BaileyPaul CampbellConnor BarkerDavid HillBen SimeJimmy BalderstoneAidan KirkGraham AllingtonJames ReevesLuke CocksedgeAdam PerryMike MarchelJosh LeakDavid HamiltonAdam HutchinsonCraig JohnsonJohn Wharton Pool C - Good, But Not Quite Good EnoughBrooks MartinNate ZettleTim BrownMark ShepherdJosh FletcherStuart SnaresBob McCallumBen HalfordNathan CheneryBradley DowningMark ByrneJan ProudleyJoe TaylorDavid BrownLee WalstowPaul HansellDom WesterlandAndreas FrischArran JonesAustin CapewellScott PorterPool D - The Not Really ClubDavid PaynePhil HawtinMichelle DallasGareth HenryBruno SantosMike HutchinsonGarry BurgessWill MalcolmVaughan LangtonJon HillMike TaylorGraeme NichollsPhillipa TicknerCy DudleyDaryl ReganBennett MorleyMike SoarDavid McGuireScott WeldonMick GreenPaul FloryRob BalmforthDavid ValenteConrad EJ GonsalvesNicholas FurzePool E - Must Try HarderAlastair CroweClaire HearnJoe HadfieldChris TomlinRichard PrestonAdrian MillsJakab SennettNick FerrierJames BootsPaul WilliamsonSam BatsfordDurham_Red (if anyone knows this person's real name, please let me know!)Chippy RickWildcards - Stockholm SyndromeJoakim EngströmPi FröjdJohan HofverbergBennie LundmarkMartin MånsonElinore RönningFAQsWill you be entering, Panzer? No - organiser doesn't enter.EntrantsConnor Barker x 3 Edited October 29, 2015 by PanzerHarris Update entrants

Tayne
Hi all. For those that haven't seen it on twitter, Panzer now cannot make the nationals and is no longer going to run the sweepstake, so I'm going to pick it up instead. For those that don't know me, I'm Graeme Nicholls and I've been to a few tournaments over the past year, flailing my way through with Arcanists and Neverborn. So, how much of this changes? Rules wise, nothing. We're using the same format Ben set up in the first post. Some drop outs have occurred (well, at least 2 that I know of) so I'll repost the list tomorrow (hopefully) of pools and have them all updated. Ben's going to send me the lists already submitted etc, but if you want to be sure, pm them to me here or post them on this thread. As with Ben, don't send them to me on twitter. I don't check there daily. I plan on getting to the tournament early on Saturday for any final entrants. The price stays at £2, same breakdown for winner, 2nd etc and just as Panzer had planned, I shall not enter.Good luck! PanzerHarris
Just to confirm, this is with my blessing - I have the utmost respect for Graeme and confidence that he will deliver. Unfortunately I'm not able to attend and therefore run the sweepstakes but I will be providing Graeme with all my files and the payments sent to me. I'll also be handing over the on the day forms.
Tayne
Okay, so I've just checked and the entrants list has not been updated with the two drop outs I know of. Makes life easy for me, the pools will stay the same (just don't list Ben Harris or James Boots folks, they ain't coming).

Tayne
Remember guys, I must have your list and the £2 before the start of game 1, so 9am Saturday. I'll be getting to the venue early and will spend as much time loitering near Mike as I can to make it simple for you.Anyone that has listed their entry here still needs to pay too, of course! If anyone sent an entry to Ben directly, please send it again to me via pm or post it here to be sure of your entry. Failing that, grab me on Saturday morning. Tayne
Just a little teaser while we wait for the final placings to be posted. We had a 18 people entry a total of 23 teams this year, leaving the prize pools at:WAAC = £231st place = £17.252nd place = £3.453rd place = £2.30The most picked player to win was Elinore Rönning (we just love to vote for Elinore it seems).Eight players picked themselves to win their bracket.I was picked once, cheers to Ben Halford. That's all for now, more will come when the final placings are up. Tayne
Right, the placings have been up all day but I've only just had a chance to sort this all. Our winners are:3rd place - Martin Wodehouse (score of 146)2nd place - Joel Henry (score of 127)1st place - Conrad EJ Gonsalves (score of 104)Last place was virusoverlord with a score of 356.The best possible team pick with a total score of 54 was:Greg Piskosz, Joe Wood, Joe Taylor, Graeme Nicholls, Nick Martin, Elinore Rönning. The worst possible score was 458. Thanks to all the participated and to Panzer for setting this whole thing up to begin with.
