Mk19 Grenade Launcher

So I was doing some theory-faux, and wanted to see how many times in a single turn I could theoretically shoot Lazarus's grenade launcher (either from his own model, or someone else) I wasn't able to get over 15. I figured I would share my thoughts, see if the community could improve upon our Mk19...

You're left with six soulstones left over, to do with as you please.

How to get to 15 shots: Lazarus with fast can take 4 shots, due to Auto-Fire, Jack Daw with fast can Feel Their Torment four times, and Twist and Turn once on Lazarus. We're up to 9. Malifaux child can copy Feel Their Torment for the tenth shot. Hannah can use her make a new entry to copy Assimilate, to copy the grenade launcher. (11) Vanessa uses command construct. (12) Rusty gives Lazarus reactivate for another Auto-fire, reaching 15.

Thoughts, comments, concerns?

False advertising.  :P  This should be listed as "You can try to shoot the grenade launcher 15 times, once.  But half of the attempts are going to fail half the time (eight single coin toss flips and one double coin toss flip), and the other two shots are once per game."

 

Details you're leaving out:

- Lazarus gets fast due to discarding Oath Keeper (cost: 1ss)

- Jack Daw gets fast due to discarding Oath Keepr (cost: 1ss)

- Feel Their Torment requires an 8 or better to succeed, and you're trying to do it six times times.  (Your "and feel their torment once on Lazarus" appears to be missing a subject on the first line.  Who is performing the fifth Feel Their Torment?) 

- Command Construct needs a 7 or better to succeed.

- Make a New Entry needs a 6 or better to succeed.  Assimilate needs a 6 or better to succeed.  So Hanna needs a 6 or better to succeed twice before she fires the grenade launcher.

It wasn't false advertising. It was a fun exercise theoryfauxing that it could be done theoretically. Faceless never said that it was easy, actually a good thing to do or anything like that. 

I think it's a fun little theory exercise! Well done.

I don't know if you were set on using Jack Daw for this but I was able to get the number of shots up to 18 with the following list.

Tara (Eternal Journey, Knowledge of Eternity, Oathkeeper)

Hannah (ancient tomes)

Lazarus (Oathkeeper)

Malifaux child

Venessa

Rusty Alice

3SS left

 

Method:

At the end of the prior turn Tara uses pull the void to give Lazarus fast and bury him.  Next turn Tara activates first discards oathkeeper uses Eternal Journey 4 times (4 shots) killing a model on the last shot to unbury Lazarus and uses her 0 action to reactivate at the end of the turn.  Lazarus activates autofires and shoots once more with fast (8 shots).  Vanessa uses command construct to have Lazarus shoot (9 shots).  Rusty Alice uses burnout on Lazarus.  Lazarus activates again, discards oathkeeper and uses autofire (13 shots).  Malifaux child uses pull the void on Tara to give her fast.  Hannah activates and uses make a new entry to copy assimilate and then copies the grenade launcher (14 shots).  Hannah then buries Lazarus with her Ancient Tomes.  Tara reactivates and usesuses Eternal Journey 4 more times (18 shots).

I wasn't quite able to figure out how to have Tara start the turn with fast but if someone can the it can go all the way up to 19 shots.

If Tara starts the turn fast she can use that fast at the beginning, not kill something, Malifaux child can use Eternal Journey to copy the grenade launcher and makes the kill to unbury Lazarus, and then Tara discards oathkeeper during her 2nd activation for fast again.

 

Unfortunately I was not able to figure out a sequence of events that started her with fast and had Lazarus buried at the beginning of the turn.

The Child could have given her Fast in the previous turn if she didn't Reactivate then.

Good point Bengt it didn't occur to me to not necessarily have Lazarus buried from earlier in the previous turn and then just ensure that nothing dies to unbury him.  With that change the shot total goes up to 19.

Nschwier I was not aware of any restriction on using pull the void based on when Tara activates.  The only actions that i am aware of that are restricted by her activation order are her 0 action reactivate and her 0 action return to her deployment zone.  Admittedly I will have to check my cards later to see if I missed something since I don't have them with me.

Pull the void do have the restriction: "This Action cannot be taken if there are no other friendly models left to Activate." But it's not really a problem if you forgo Reactivate and Activate Tara somewhere in the middle of the previous turn. But since this is "get the most shots" and not "play an optimal game" that is fine. :P

You could get up to 17 with Lazarus as part of a Colette crew.

You’ll need

Lazarus – 11

Imbued Energies – 1

Colette – 0

Imbued Energies – 1

Cassandra – 8

Hannah – 11

Malifaux Child – 3

Performer – 5

Lazarus can start with IE and Auto Fire (4), Cassie borrows prompt (5), Child borrows prompt (6), Hannah borrows prompt via Cassie’s understudy (7), and then Colette prompts four times with IE (11). Finally, once per game, Colette triggers final act to reactivate Lazarus who adds another three shots (14).

By adding a sacrificial Performer in there you can reactivate Colette who can bring the total to 17 shots but you’ve now sacrificed 16 points on your own side!

If you skip the sacrificial components you bring it back to a mere 11 shots, but they’re actually pretty easy to achieve (6 required for prompt) versus some of the other methods. You’re probably better off with a trio of doves over Malifaux Child for damage.
