Hi guys, I've decided to jump into Malifaux and pick up some of the crew boxes. I played a couple of games about 5 years ago but other things annoyingly got in the way. I'm looking at picking up the rule book and two crews so I can tempt some of my friends to try a few games out. I'm definitely getting lady j's crew but also thinking of the gremlin Kin box or one of the neveborn crews (dark debts or pandora). Can anyone give a quick run down on those boxes and suggest a couple of things to add in the future.

Cheers!

Welcome to Malifaux!

Did you find the Wiki yet?

Lady Justice is a splendid choice for learning the game. You might want to add either Perdita's or Sonnia's box to fill out your games.

The Kin are a very dangerous ranged crew who do a ton of damage. Add some Slop Haulers and you're ready, but be mindful of the state of your terrain. Too little terrain and they will be dominating.

Lynch and Pandora are very good starter boxes as well. You might want to get bot, actually.

Welcome to Malifaux, Pandora is difficult to recommend expansions for as she works really well with any crew.

However Teddy makes a great play mate for Baby Kade and the Doppleganger is a great addition to almost any Neverborn crew, I would 2nd picking up the Lynch box as well as the Illuminated are great minions to be used for almost any crew

Thanks for the replies guys, definietly some useful tips in there.

@Dirial, thanks for the wiki link, hadn't seen that yet. Out of interest what do the slop haulers do? From a model perspective the piglets and pig herder and Gracie look a little more appealing.

@Zfiend haha cheers  ;)

@Masterdisaster where abouts in Dorset are you?

I'm new to it too. Only played against myself to try and learn the rules. Was a WFB player in my teens but can't be parsed with it anymore.

Recently bought lynch and perdita crews and looking to expand from there.

I live in trowbridge so pretty close to you. I'm struggling for opponents as well, trying to persuade the wife to pick it up but not sure I'm getting far

Ah Trowbridge is just down the road really. Do you have a club or just play at home? If you ever want a game, pm me :)

Opportunities to meet fellow Malifaux players would be Gearscon (28-30 Aug) and Colours (12 Sept) as both will include the chance for demos and socialising. For details see the UK Events section of the forum, or drop me a PM as I'm organiser for the Malifaux content of both.

Yes, would definitely be up for that. Don't play in any clubs as haven't found any around, what about you? Do you know of clubs around here that play malifaux?

Awesome. I'm away a fair bit over the next little while but I'm definitely up for a game. Do you have any terrain? Hmm I know of a local club but not sure they play malifaux. I was thinking of checking them out come September anyway for warmachine so I'll find out soon hopefully.

Ok, great. I don't have much terrain yet . Maybe the gaming club will have some we could borrow. I think Bristol independent gaming have tables that you can use as well, so that could be an option, although a bit further away.

Hi SaSheep, I am very near to you in a town called Frome. We have a gaming group that meet every 2 weeks at a pub in the centre and play malifaux blood bowl and x wing. We have only started playing Malifaux but it seems to be popular.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1602274223389753/

It would be amazing if you can come on over to see what we are about.

Also, let me know if you want to buy anything from the GenCon stuff as it would be good if we could split the postage and customs.

Cheers,

BB

there's also  Wargaming @ Radstock based in Radstock on Wednesdays and Sundays; and Wireworld has Malifaux picking up Friday nights!

we've a few regular players but mostly new to 2nd ed

i know Pigmar is based in Bath but think they're mainly 40k / Warmahordes players; could be worth an ask!

depending on transport Bristol Independant Gaming has a large Malifaux selection too

I live in trowbridge so pretty close too. New to Malifaux but want to find some friendly (patient) opponents so I can get going. Away for a few weeks now but would be good to come along at some stage.

Radstock is only about 30mins away from me. Will have a look at the website and try and get across at some stage.

Cheers for all the replies guys, looks like there is more Malifaux going on in the area than I expected! I am just down the road from Radstock in Peasedown and my best friend lives in Frome. I will have a propper look at the websites tomorrow when I am home from work, but right now I am on a 23 hour over-night shift... If you guys could post up the times and dates for the clubs that would be great. Also which pub is it in Frome?

@Paulie let me know when you are back and we can sort out going to one of the clubs if you want? Would be good to know I am not the only beginner there ;)
