Jack Daw Project

So I hear that corpse markers hurt even more now that Reva is out.  While Jack will help with specialist's slow movement, nothing helps his def of 4.  He would take the place of Sue in my army.  I can't imagine that it would be a good idea, but I am willing to listen.

Thanks,

Steven

OMG....I have had great success with Sue in both Parker and JD crews, but never saw this tactical action.  While you need the mask to remove corpse counters, it has no resistance, so you can hit anyone with it.  WOW, can't wait to try this out.

Thanks,

Steven

OK so Sue bit me hard in the rear last night.  My opponent pointed out that Sue's anti cast aura would make my Jack Daw have a :-fateto his torment only obey.  I think he is right.  Have other just missed this or they work around it or what?

For reference it says "Until end of the Turn, Ca Attack actions which target friendly models within :aura3 suffer :-fate to the attack flip."

Yes Jack would be at :-fate it is why I don't tend to take the Twist and Turn upgrade on Jack when Sue is around.

I'm thinking about picking up Jack and his crew. While researching, it seems to be that Lady Ligia needs some help to be worth her cost. Has anyone tried the Hodgepodge Emissary with her and given her the Companion trinket? If so, how useful has it been?

What Ligeia needs is Accomplice, not Companion, seeing as how her aura is useful for other models after she activates.

She can provide good results and an "omggottakillher" reaction from an opponent, but is somewhat expensive for a model that will just fly in, create an inconvenience and die.

Drowned are good for something schemes or stategies with models that creates hazardous aura/terrain like Jakuna Ubume, Ama no Zako or Crooked men;

because they increase damage from terrain by 1 (no cheatable damages)

much better with creeping terror upgrade on a ht 3 model (that increase :aura range by 1")

So I was recently given a this box set as a gift. How are drowned with jack? I do not play rezzers to having someone giving me access to them makes me feel weird as I generally do not like taking merc-type models :P

Jack is just fine without taking cross-faction models.

The only model I always take is Jaakuna Ubume, but that's just my personal preference. Now that Monty's been buffed, go for Monty instead of any Resser minion

I've gotten some work out of Drowned, but the board needs to be right. Mostly they are useful as another movement control vector for dragging things towards Jaakuna Ubume (and therefore the rest of the crew).

They are definitely worth their weight over a guilty, but I generally get more mileage out of Crooked Men for a stone less.

How do you fine folks go about activation control with Jack?

So far the only way I see it is "Jack kills a bunch of stuff, then you get activation control"

I never leave home without Sue, Effigy or Jaakuna, but lacking strong 5ss minions/scheme runners is what hurts my lists the most.

Maybe I could bring myself to use Winged Plague, but I so much hate the model it hurts.

Should I venture into Crooked Men or Drowned to get to that 8 model count?

The Nurse without Specialist I find too risky to use, and that's 13ss (18 if you count the mandatory Guilty for zee flammenwerfer guy not to lag behind)

thoughts, experiences, advice?

Why not use johan over the specialist? It's the same walk but he's 2 points cheaper with a slightly better def. Also he doesn't blow up when killed and the relic hammer is nice.

Also dead outlaws, while a little, more expensive then what your looking for, could work. Especially if you save the points on the specialist. They're not as fast as other options but they're good at fighting heavier things with upgrades and denying scheme markers.

Yeah I'm dreaming of the time I can get them Outlaws at a store, but there isn't even a release schedule yet.

As for Johan, he's a cool guy, but his condition removal is too conditional for my tastes, needing a specific suit to go off.

Whereas Specialist's gun is nothing to sneeze at, ignoring cover, setting things on fire (because FfM is a thing) and a bunch of other useful triggers.

You and me both. Well here's hoping they'll be in the Easter sale!

I can understand that. It only needs a low ram though and it can hit more than just slow and paralyze.

The gun is nice. Personally I think it's more an question of preferences. I prefer the melee, but I can respect the flamethrower.

As for FfM I don't have much of a problem with Daw since the curses can kill people pretty easily. Just throw something on someone after beating them up, then obey them to shoot someone.

I am usually at 7 or 8 activations in my Jack crews. To get this I take the malifaux child and 2 guilty and then add other models to taste.

I like the guilty as they can be quite durable for their cost. I will pair them with a another tormented model to get around their slow movement and Jack obviously helps speed them up as well.
