Hymn for the Lost
The shadows are moving, the Dark Lady calls
A church steeple tolls for the belles
Our Lady of Lost Things with death in her thrall
Receives her attendants from Hell

Oh where are you going and where have you come?
You trust a young man in the night
My dear, how I mourn you, your kindness undone
For men are the worst parasites

The market is shuttered they hearken your call
The children cruel, ageless, and wise
They flicker their knives and come hide in your shawl
A mother to empty black eyes.

Oh where are you going and where have you come?
The living flesh falls from your bones
My dear, how I love you, my cold, lonely one
We've rich, wicked men to dethrone

Our Lady is lovely, our Lady kind
Nay, nevermore are we alone
We innocent wretches the papers malign
She defends with words of her own
