jonahmaul
If it's cheap enough it's worth buying just for the Trapper and Librarian anyway who are solid in any Outcast list.

Freman
Since, after buying Von Schill, I was drawn to hunt around other sites looking for other boxes and some older blisters, I find myself with the Hired Guns box, Hannah, Strongarm Suit, Lazarus, and in metal a trapper, librarian, and specialist. In a kind of themed list I was thinking of running 50SS. Von Schill, shirt, engage, survivalist Steam Trunk Librarian Specialist Strongarm Suit, scramble 2 Trappers Not sure if I should add upgrades to the Librarian or Specialist, although with a 6SS pool I can probably give someone oath keeper or scout the field. You will really miss having someone with a copy of Scout the Field, in my experience. You have no pushing abilities, your crew is (fairly) slow, and, with the exception of the Strongarm Suit, none of them like to be engaged. Having a way to get to Leaping and Flying models hiding outside of LoS is a really good thing for the Freikorps. I'm also a really big fan of I Pay Better, especially with the Specialist and the Trappers, all of whom really likes getting focus. I run pretty much the same list you do a lot of the time, but I have found that the Strongarm Suit doesn't pull its weight quite as well as Ama no Zako. You will be missing out on the Strongarm's gun and armor penetration trigger, but you get a hazardous terrain bubble and a (0) obey instead, plus she flies all the time, and she can carry Scout the Field AND I Pay Better while Von Schill loads up on other upgrades. CapnBloodbeard
Yeah,I'm a huge fan of I Pay Better. Focussed shot + normal shot for my trapper? Yes please! Kill a minion and annoy someone else in a turn Not so much Scout the Field though, just seems overpriced for what it does.
zFiend
I pay better is a ridiculously good upgrade.
Patzer
Not so much Scout the Field though, just seems overpriced for what it does. Scout the Field can be very good. Strongarm Suit and Von Schill can charge, while engaged, and without LoS. That can be crucial in certain games. In Close and Flank Deployment, that extra push can get a model into a very good shooting or charge position. Once again, works very well with Augmented Jump. The Specialist gains some much needed speed, and ignores Cover with its ranged attack so ignoring LoS for a turn can be crazy good. Sue got a built in plus flip (negating the cover), and can potentially dish out minimum damage 4 if you got some Rams in hand. So hard cover won't bother too much either. He is pretty slow too, so the free movement is welcomed. Lazarus likes the extra push as well, and can wreak havoc without needing LoS. It is not for every model, but it can be very useful in the right situation. It is a very nice complement to Oathkeeper.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you don't have anyone who plays Lillith in your meta. Or anyone who plays a master that can double pillar/wall/pyre. Bringing something that can keep her honest is a super good thing to have in your back pocket. Even if you never use it to get a good charge off, the fact that you *can* stops people from doing literally whatever they want in places you can't directly see. Kadeton
Hans with Scout the Field and a friend with I Pay Better removes an upgrade from just about any non-Master on the board on the first turn - first Activation, if necessary. Can't hide from it, and if the target's Df is low it's almost impossible to stop. There are loads of upgrades that people put on Henchmen that, if removed, completely throw their game plan into disarray.

Never played against Lillith or anybody like that Trappers are funny. Some games they're awesome, some games they accomplish absolutely nothing (although even then they do influence my opponent's movement....although that can probably work against me as they're less likely to be in the open). They're often a big target though, especially if I've deployed them a fair way up the field. Though I guess they're the sort of minion who can be killed in turn 3 or so but still have done enough of their job. Bit like my librarian and Specialist. Except every game they accomplish absolutely nothing
KrazyIvan
I've read this whole thread and have gone back and forth over whether or not to pull the trigger on the crew box, Hannah, and the Strongarm (already have Laz for my Levi crew). Now I can't decide (though I do need a Librarian for my Rusty, Ronin, Johann, Librarian hardcore list).

Absolutely brutal combination - it's kicked many an ass. You will get excellent use out of the Strongarm, Trappers and Librarian in any crew you take them in, and Hannah has great potential in a lot of crews. SpectreEliteGaming
I thought the trick to playing Von Schill was to build a Von Schill crew and then just have Tara lead it instead, no? >8) Leveticus can do that shit too very nicely. I really need to get Strongarm on the table more. I'm so gung-ho about DE right now that i don't want to cut him. This game has too many good options... for everything. No the trick to building a Von schill crew is hire Alyce and use his upgarde to let her summon scrap and abominations every turn, till you end up with a Leveticus crew. Steam trunk lets the Abominations cycle cards for you (damage 1 to draw a card, it can discard a card to heal)
KrazyIvan
I like the idea of using Rusty in a Von Schill crew alongside Hannah. Given two hands with 5's and 10's the two of them could pop a turn two Desolation Engine through Von Schill's 2 0 AP action upgrade.
