Agent of the Breach
Thanks, guys; here, another wip! The next one was supposed to be Shenlong, but seems like my gencon order is going through some shipping problems, so the TT incursion on this thread is postponed

Agent of the Breach
This time I have something different; we order Shenlong during the gencon but the shipping got troubles and we had to wait a month to got him (btw, Wyrd solved the issue, thanks again!). At the moment it arrived, we were so eager for it that we started to work on him immediately. It's the fastest miniature we have painted, it "only" took six hours! He still need his tattoo, but we want to try draw one on one of the peasant first. It's a big thing and it's a little scary; I hope to show it to you soon
Phinn
Every time I see a picture of a model you painted I fight the urge to start shaking my monitor vigorously, trying to strangle it, and shouting at it at the top of my lungs: "How?! How did he do that?! TELL ME!"I dread the day you post a picture of a model with tattoos.Extraordinary work as always, my good man.

Popular Post Agent of the Breach
As we promised, we are going to try explaining how we painted the trousers.Painting Sensei Yu's Pants First of all, this is the recipe (all the colors are from Vallejo's Model Color line). Base coat: Brown Orange (70981)First shadow: Brown Orange (70981) + Cavalry Brown (70982)First light: Brown Orange (70981) + Flat Yellow (70953)Second shadow: Cavalry Brown (70982) + Dark Prussian Blue (70899) + Violet (70960)Second light: Brown Orange (70981) + Flat Yellow (70953) + Sunny Skin Tone (70845)Highlight: Ice Yellow (70858) And now, the long version; we start painting over the primer (Vallejo's Gray Primer for airbrush) the base-coat, in this case, Brown Orange. Once the base coat is done, we start with the first shadow. It's very important to thin the paint with a lot of water to achieve a smooth result; don't worry if it's not looking very clean, you can fix it later with the base color. We have recorded a little video were you can see the texture of the paint and how you should move the brush. That's the first shadow; we paint using a shadow-light-shadow-light structure, because it helps to see how everything is looking at any time. As we said, this shadow is a mix between Brown Orange and Cavalry Brown. You can see the color on the video. Look at him, he is happy only with that shadow. Time for the first light, Brown Orange and Flat Yellow; It's important to keep using the base color, as we are still painting big areas. Here it is another video were you can see how we paint the light; you have to remember that the color tend to be more intense in the last place touched by the brush, and that is really important when you are trying to do the lights. Now we paint the second shadow. Keep in mind that you have to paint a smaller area than in the previous shadow; it's not about painting over the first surface, but about defining the shadows. As you can see, we used blue tones to add contrast to the orange; a mix of Cavalry Brown, Dark Prussian Blue and Violet. This time, the mix has to be extra watery to achieve a semi-trasparent layer. Look at the mix: Next thing we do is do one more lighting, this time with Brown Orange, Flat Yellow and Sunny Skin Tone. As in the second shadow, we paint a smaller area inside the first light. As you can see, It's almost done; in this particular case, we did a third light with the same colors as the previous but with even more yellow to help to differentiate between the pants and the skin. And finally, the highlights with Ice Yellow. In this miniature there aren't as much of them as in others like Shenlong (as his pants doesn't have so many wrinkles) but they make the final result looks nicer. You are going to need a good and sharp brush to do this; we recommend a sable kolinsky one. Here is another video were you can see how we do it: And this is the final result: We hope that this has helped you and feel free to ask any questions
