Arcane Miniatures - Trustworthy?

Hi guys

I've recently been given a rulebook for an another gaming system for free. Some guy just gave me a £30 book because he had the hard cover version! I've been looking around and the miniatures aren't the easiest to find, well at least the ones I'm interested in.

I've come across Arcane Miniatures (www.arcaneminiatures.co.uk) who seem to have a much better selection and stock of what I'm looking for but I've never used them and only heard their name crop up once or twice in conversation or various threads across various forums.

Have you used them? Are they fast to dispatch / deliver items? Are they reliable? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm hesitant to order from a company until I have an idea what they are like or at least get some positive feedback from somebody who has used them before.

Thanks

I've used them a fair few times over the years and never failed to get the items I ordered from them. The free second class post is nice. They are however not the quickest. Communication is generally sluggish and dispatch isn't wildly quick. I've never used the not free postage options from them so don't know if that bumps you up priority or whatever. It's hard to give them a glowing review, but I've never had any problems personally. One friend had an issue and got quite annoyed with a lack of communication and has vowed never to us them again. But to balance that out I have a group of 5 friends who order from Arcane all the time and consider them a favoured retailer and only say neutral to positive things. So that's 6 pluses to one negative in my experience

What's the other gaming system?

Hell Dorado, I've seen the guys at my club play it and it's caught my interest. Got the rules for free so I figure I'll grab a few bits and give it a crack!   :D

Well that is a positive result. They seem to have a larger selection of models available without having to crippling my bank account by importing stuff from the US so given this I'm inclined to give them a try. I'm specifically after the Saracen Djinn type stuff and the Efreet Warriors are on their site as well as a bunch of other stuff I like. Many other sites don't have much of a selection or are constantly out of stock (Element Games! )

I placed an order for a fate deck and another blister of infinity minis on 9th Sept, and Crossroads and some additional stuff around a week later. I followed the second order up with an email asking if they could be bundled together if the first hadn't been despatched yet. I got a reply saying the new Malifaux stuff had just come in and my orders would be despatched together the next day. A week later nothing had arrived so I sent another email asking if they had been sent yet and got a reply a couple of days later saying it was all on the way. It arrived last week minus the fate deck from the original order, I've messaged twice about this since Friday and have yet to have a response.

I had issues on a previous order a while ago where it seems like it's taken an email to prompt my order to be despatched and to be honest this latest set or orders has put me off using them again.

Thanks for your feedback Chimeric. I'll take that into account, it seems as though Arcane Miniatures are kind of touch and go in regards to their customer service and delivery/dispatch times. I think I'll give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to ordering some bits and bobs and if they cause any problems or a negative experience then I can cross them off my preferred suppliers list.

Don't order anything from Arcane Miniatures. I ordered items worth £235, but never get anything from them. I wrote email to them. They response that they will resend the package. But, that never happened. I kept sending them emails to ask them to fulfil my order. Nothing. They don't bother reply anymore. This is the first time I order something from UK and never get them. I'm so sad that I lost £235 of my hard-earning money. Besides, Wayland Games & Firestorm Games are trustworthy.

Wayland games are awful. If you want something use either Firestorm or Element as they are really the only decent ones in the UK. Arcane are hit and miss. Its a one guy op and well it is just basically hit or miss

I've used both and they have been for the most part fantastic. There is one other company who I'ed used a couple of times now and have easily been on par with Element Games. They are called Hellfire Gaming Industries. They are cheap, reliable and really helpful. They also deal with a few tings that Element and Firestorm don't although their Malifaux section is somewhat more limited they have done alright by me.

In the end I decided not to order from Arcane Miniatures. If there had only been one or two negative experiences I could have put that down to just bad luck or human errors which most companies have from time to time but at the moment the good to bad seems to be 50/50 which is incredibly discouraging. Especially after hearing this
