Suldat
I am sculpting some models for a freikorps crew and I wanted to get some of malifaux weapons for them. I also wanted to base them on the clear plastic bases. Can anyone link or post pics of crew using either of these things...I want to see how the blend in with models and terrain. For instance is the modern weapon sprue too modern for the Victorian atmosphere or are the transparent bases hard to see on a playing board? paradoxstorm
I found this link on Facebook, hopefully the copy/paste works. http://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tabletopgamingnews.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F09%2Fclear-base-Warmachine.jpg&h=yAQHi2sHQ&s=
Requirement
http://chaosorc.com/images/modern.jpg In my opinion, the Wyrd modern guns are definitely too modern for a Victorian feel. http://wyrd-games.net/shop/images/P/p-16599.jpg I, personally, like the Hats and Guns of Malifaux better, depending on the intended feel. I am also interested in seeing a model based on the Wyrd clear bases. I can't find any pictures of the clear bases, but the colored translucent bases have some love here: http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/84329-anyone-use-the-new-clear-bases-show-them-off/page-
Suldat
Yeah I like those guns too but I really don't need the hats. Is it just me, or is there a distinct reluctance to modify or sculpt anything in malifaux? I see crews that are either straight from the box with some cluttered bases or proxies from completely different companies. Coming from a Warhammer r where everything is customizable, kitbashed, or sculpted im little disappointed that a game that the thrives off the character of each individual model has a community that tries so very little to craft each piece with at least some personal touches. I'm not saying everyone should do it..but I can barely find anything.
Requirement
I feel like a see a fair amount of modification around here. Moreso in the old metal days than the current plastics. I like to think that the lack of modification speaks to the quality of the sculpts that Wyrd puts out. Then again, you make the valid counter point that there are a ton of "proxied" models. Personally, I don't modify because I am particularly bad at it. I would like to be good and really change my models but I also just sort of buy the models I like to avoid even needing to modify them. Omenbringer
Probably less motivation for modification due to the lower model counts compared to Warhammer (where you'll have 20+ of the same exact model). The spammable crews in Malifaux have seen the most modification in my experience. Look up Bayou Gremlin's to see examples.

I'm not saying everyone should do it..but I can barely find anything. I came from a similar background and experience but don't do much modification of the M2E plastics for a couple of reasons. As Omenbringer mentioned it's not usually necessary. With a few exceptions the new plastics are WYSIWYG out of the box and match the card artwork. The only place I've really wanted to convert are horde type models like the steam arachnids, but their so small and simple it didn't make any sense. Also, Wyrd kits are substantially more complicated than GW kits and are not designed to be modular between figures, so even though they are plastic, it's still a pain in the rear to modify most of them. If I were playing the Through the Breach RPG I'd say there would be much more drive to modify the figures.
Omenbringer
If you are interested in converting though the Multipose kits are a great start if you can get your hands on them. Just be aware that the female ones have some oddities in the extremities that may require modification in order to look right. Not sure if this will still be true of the general release ones. Suldat
Thanks. I'll stick to sculpting for now. I'm actually enjoying it.
