Adran
I was using a Desolation engine against Santiango and a question arose. The Desolation engine has a trigger that he heals as much damage as the opponent suffers. What I couldn't work out was if Santiago is on 2 wounds, and has hard to kill, if I hit him for 3 damage, how much do I heal?
0 zFiend
That's a good question. I think he suffers 3 and you would heal 3. Hard to kill just keeps him alive but doesn't affect the amount suffered?
0 spectrehorseman
I've been meaning to ask this but didn't want to make a whole new thread. I'm new to the game, haven't played yet. But I was wondering how then, do you kill characters with hard to kill?
0 Adran
In my example, after hitting Santiago, he would be on 1 wound (because of Hard to kill), and another hit on him wouldn't trigger hard to Kill again, as he is now on less than 2 wounds. Hard to kill generally means the model can take 1 extra hit before it dies.
0 spectrehorseman
so it activates once per turn, but if he is damaged again that turn, he dies?
0 Adran
No, sorry I don't have its exact wording to hand, but its something along the lines of "Hard to Kill: While this model has 2 or more Wd remaining when it suffers damage, it may not be reduced to below 1 Wd." It only comes into play on a hit that would kill the model (as no other amount would reduce it below 1 wound anyway), and only if it had 2 or more wounds when it was hit. 0 Bengt
As was pointed out in the Dumb Luck thread, according to the General Timing box on P46 you resolve the trigger first, then abilities. So Desolation Engine would heal whatever you flipped.
