Who's the toughest model you have assembled ?

Recommended Posts

Definitely sounds like the instructions and a 5 Ltr drum of patience are required for that one... might lay off replacing my metal Von Schill crew for a while!

Admittedly, while the process was accompanied with constant swearing, it was still enjoyable. I quite liked assembling my Von Schill Crew.

And I've got to confess, I made a small change to Von Schill's gun arm by having him hold his pistol sideways, ghetto style.

having just done the steam truck, it's not too bad. The worst part is definitely the tracks. Getting the back wheel to fit the back part of the track was not fun. The rest of the box is relatively straightforward though, except the specialist, whos tubes don't quite reach far enough around the front unless you have the fuel tanks slightly apart.

The bayou gremlins however.......the fishing pole model still makes my temples twitch thinking about it now

Having recently assembled Hannah (Normal) she was a royal pain to put together, she consists of easily 40+ parts. It's not so much difficult as annoying. You'll get there eventually but have some anti-depressants on standby to level out your mood because she's a bit of a ball ache. I've yet to try my Steam Trunk but it's looking like it's going to be a similar situation.

Hoffman's feet gave me a bit of trouble. I ended up doing about 25 dry fits switching the covers between each foot until I felt like they were on right. Even with the instructions open I couldn't tell which pair was meant for which foot. but I got it in the end.

The clockwork traps were kind of annoying, but only because there didn't seems to be any obvious way to put them together. The torakage weren't too terrible, though the female one still has trouble staying on her base.

The Brass Arachnid wasn't too bad to assemble.. .but whoever okay'ed that sculpt for a 30mm base was crazy. not sure how to do it aside from putting him up on just his back two feet and praying no one bumps your case... BUT... since i don't actually play Ramos, he is now my Large Arachnid and everything will be just fine. =]

The only model that gave me so much trouble that I still cringe when I look at the model (and I have built all the 10T stuff that's out, and a large chuck of the guild now) is the Ten Thunder Archer... those head curtains...

Granted, this was the first thing I built in the plastics, but it was a nightmare. I had to hand sculpt one of them and the plastic glue did quite a number on the sides of their faces since the curtains were sliding around cause I was trying to glue the wrong one into place and it didn't fit.

For me thus far it was one of the Hanged after the rope broke while taking it off the sprue. Since then I've become more careful removing stuff.

Also the tiny bids on many models require my full concentration. Using a tweezer and a glue that can be applied with precision it comes together without much trouble though.

Assembling Sonnia wasn't too bad, however trying to glue her to the base...

I had three fingers glued to the base instead and she still wasn't attached.

Otherwise of the grand total of 6 models that I have assembled so far, Samael caused me the most problems, I don't have the most steady hands in the world and those tiny bits are a pain in the backside to glue on.

only problem I had with Samael... I still haven't figured out where that little "s" shaped strap is supposed to attach on his left hip. Doesn't seem to fit anywhere and the only photos I can' find of him are head on, so I don't see it. lol.

The big brass arachnid in the plastic Ramos kit wasn't tough to get on the 30mm base -- but only because I immediately gave up and piled various girders and broken pipes onto the base, and had it perched on those.

I always have trouble with any multi-piece hair/heads..always seems like I am on the verge of a lobotomy miniature.

For me the current toughest is my Spawn Mother, but that's because in the box they gave me two right arms.  Hopefully I can resolve this, because I am not good enough with sculpting tools/media to build an entire arm, and bending the duplicate won't work.

Two rights apparently made a wrong this time.

EDIT:  Oops... despite fitting better with that poor joke, I just realized they gave me two left arms, not two right.  That's the first error I've had with Wyrd...with Games Workshop it was a never-ending nightmare, but Wyrd has been good to-date.

Alas, but Wyrd is still the king of 'and -why- is that a separate piece?' for me. I was lucky enough to buy a couple of 10T Archers assembled already, but I've also put together Mei Feng's box (Mei's boot, Emberling's tongue, Kang's ponytail...), Metal Gamin (those feet...), and Willie (just...why?).

Friend of mine just bought the Von Schill box. Looking over his shoulder....the heck is up with the Trapper and the Freikorpsmen?

I didn't have any problems assembling metal models since I've started pinning them. Before that there was only pain.
Afterward I stumbled upon Necrotic machine. Assembling was a bit of a pain because of the thin limbs, but the real problem came after the said limbs decided to break off while being transported. I've since repinned them, but I'll have to sculpt or glue something over the gaps that were created by being broken. Since most of Mollys crew has some bows on them, I'll give Ponto a couple...

As for plastic I must say Ten Thunder Archers gave me the most trouble. Those helmet/hat scarves are a pain.
