  1. Hello fellow Wyrdos! I am coming back to the game after a hiatus midway through 2E. Between a close friend talking me back in, and a better gaming group locally, I am back to avoiding the Black Joker. Back with one major caveat this time; a self-imposed limitation for buying models. Last time I played, I had a very Pokemon-esque "gotta buy 'em all" mentality, which led to several still NIB models that were never built, let alone painted or put on a table. I would like to avoid that this time, and have decided to limit myself to only models that I can fit into my standard Malifaux Battlefoam bag (https://us.battlefoam.com/malifaux-bag-standard-load-out/, or 62 pre-cut slots and a pluck foam tray for larger models). From some preliminary perusing of the forums and podcasts, I believe I can get 6 Masters/playstyles over 3 Factions (Outcasts, Resurrectionists and Ten Thunders). This is a combination of what was available to me nearby, what looked fun to play and what caught my eye. I don't imagine that this limitation will be competitive in any real sense of the word. But it should be good enough to play locally and perhaps in a tournament in a larger city. I just want to know if there is something that I am drastically missing. Here is what I am looking to get so far, and some explanation where possible: OUTCASTS Crazy Cat Lady - couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab the old crazy cat lady when I found someone in the area had it for sale. Catelin Abernathy (Nightmare Hamelin) Almost full cat models (missing 4 Alley Cats, and will make a second Cat Princess) Benny Wolcomb Ashes and Dust - Still unsure about the Ashes and Dust. Seems like a good scheme runner for the list, that can also act as a scheme runner hunter, and hard to take out beater. This is the most flexible spot, but not sure what to replace it with. Also wary of using 3 spots for 1 ”model” Prospector Freikorps Librarian Super Soldier/Anti Obey – this was from some theoryfaux and forum discussion about pushing the hired master rule to the limit. I can also see a story where Parker and Zipp hire on the Viks and Von Schill to act as a distraction, while they secure the real prize. This also helps balance out the storage restrictions, as the list is only 5 models. Viks (Easter Bunny alts) Captain Zipp Parker Barrows Von Schill - the only one I am unsure about is Von Schill. I am happy with the other 4 masters, and felt Von Schill covered the most holes, with different equipment he can give himself. Open to suggestions on whether one of the other masters would be a better fit than him. RESURRECTIONISTS Molly’s Pirate Crew – love the idea of a pirate-themed crew, and the models look great Full Brine and Bones Box New Brine and Bones themed Rogue Necromancy Archie (when available, WarmaHordes Swamp Horror until then) 3 Crooligans – are all 3 necessary? The Forgotten Marshal Night Terrors – still not sold if they are needed, or maybe just 1 for the occasional summon? All Elite Seamus – Always wanted to play him in 2E, but didn’t like the look of the rest of his crew. Alt Seamus Little Lass as the Copycat Killer Alt Sybelle Carrion Emissary Mindless Zombies Bete Noire – not sure if she is worth a spot in the bag 1 or 2 Dead Doxy – how often do you field both? 1 Gravedigger – pulse out focus, but is it too cute? Vincent St Clair – anti-summon tech for both lists TEN THUNDERS Honeypot and their Hired Muscle Jakob Lynch Hungering Darkness 2 Beckoners 1 Depleted – in case of summon? Gwyneth Maddox 3 Illuminated – I can see fielding 1, maybe 2. 3 seems like a stretch. Kitty Dumont Alt Mr. Tannen Alt Mr. Graves 2 Samurai The Lone Swordsman 1 Kabuki Warrior Shadow Emissary Yasunori Yan’s Fam – bonus points for being able to drop in as a sometimes-Resurrectionist (and having some models that work well with Molly and Seamus) Yan Lo Chiaki Soul Porter 3 Gokudo – again, can see fielding 1, maybe 2. The third one seems like a stretch. Sun Quiang Manos Shenlong – seems like a good candidate for a reliquary on turn 1 Yin Izamu There we go, my “base” set of models. Is there anything that I am missing? Constructive criticism would be great. Depending on how it goes, I know that I would like to add Minako and her summons (whenever that box is released…). Space permitted, there may even be a way to sneak in a Shenlong list as well (more elite, like some of the recent lists from UK Nationals). If you are still reading, thanks. Sorry for the slog.

  4. I played one game against the Viks when I was just learning Malifaux, and they murdered me...but then everything murdered me back then. Recently I met up with them again for the second time (Hi @Mason!), and I had a much better idea of what to expect...and they still murdered me. Does anyone have any particular recommendations for dealing with this whirlwind of steely death? I feel like the general plan is to have something killy in position to counter-charge them and burn one or both of them down before they get to activate again...but with their high defenses, healing. and soulstone use, that seems like it will take a HUGE amount of burst damage to work reliably. What have folks used successfully? Or do you take a different approach?
  5. Hey everyone, I have a Von Schill crew painted to a tabletop standard and from about Monday will be in possession of a Viks crew NiB (Waiting on the post man) and a university of transmortis box that I am picking up tomorrow! What I am looking for is the equivalent Colette crew boxed or built... Would be looking to do a fast turn around as I have a tourney next Saturday! If you need pictures or anything they are available on request Cheers, Aron
  6. I often hear people swearing by Howling Wolf Tattoo (and putting it on Vanessa), but I haven't really figured out how to use this one. The few times I have taken it I haven't used it, so I don't even take it anymore. Giving somebody 'Sister' just seems highly situational. It can give melee expert to a beatstick, but that's just exchanging 1AP for another, so highly situational. Aside from that, having the sister buffs on such a beatstick can certainly boost the damage anywhere on the board, but to take advantage of that I'd have to activate the Viks early in the turn which I usually don't want to do unless they're about to get smashed. So all I can see is that it looks highly situational, and being so I can't see that it's worth the SS cost and upgrade slot. I know there's something about not discarding a card to flurry, but given I'd just discard a low card anyway I'm not sure how useful this one is either... So, what am I missing? How is everybody using this one?
  7. Played in a tournament yesterday, and round 2 I got absolutely destroyed by gremlin....was 9-1 in the end I think. How on earth do I handle Gremlins??? Strat: Interference Scheme pool: Murder Protege, Alits, breakthrough, bodyguard....don't remember the others. I took Murder and Bodyguard (Killjoy), declared Murder (Fingers was the target). Opponent took Breakthrough (declared) and bodyguard (Fingers) I took both Viks, Librarian, trapper, Student of Conflict, 2x Freikorpsmann, Librarian and Killjoy (buried) He took Som'er Jones, Trixiebelle, Fingers, and a bunch of other Gremliny things....... Trapper was in a good spot, but his pot shots were fairly ineffective. Freikorpsmenn pushed up hoping for cover behind a wall, but they got picked off almost as soon at got to the wall. The others....terrain wasn't really my friend. Som'er summoned a few gremlins in turn one then pushed out into the open on my right turn 2. There was some angular cover in the middle, then open terrain until the next lot of cover. I could get my viks from cover to cover without being exposed to Som'er, so I chose to hid behind the cover and take my chances against his blast (bad choice). Turn 3 Som'er pushed out down to the same side a bit more into the open, I tried getting Pokey Vik across, but she was ineffective . She got killed, so I brought out Killjoy (Librarian was already dead) By the time turn 4 came around, all I had left was my trapper still trying to shoot Fingers, Student of Conflict, and Shooty Vik. Shooty Vik ran across the left to try and engage Fingers, SoC also ran down to help out. Killjoy moved up to kill Taelor and to claim 1VP from Bodyguard. Turn 5, Killjoy died, Fingers was still being invincible and we wrapped it up. So, basically, it took until turn 3 to kill anything, and that was Killjoy killing Taelor (who didn't matter in this game anyway). The Squeel trigger just destroyed me, couldn't get more than 1 hit on anything, and it would just run off and heal. So, given that, what on earth could I have done this game? How do I handle gremlins? In hindsight von Schill might have been a better choice...but really, no idea how I could have done anything effective. I just couldn't get anything going at all. Doesn't help that for the first 2 turns I not only didn't have anything higher than 10 in my hand, and I also didn't flip anything higher than a 10 at any useful point
