  1. Reading the rules for MuseOn Con, apparently you could use a DMH Master, but that had to be your chosen Master for the entire tournament. I've also seen (in my local scene) hiring restrictions placed on them. Like you can Versatile and Keyword in-faction but can't hire Out-of-keyword. Re-reading the Main rules, arbitrary restrictions like this are not allowed. If the DMH is allowed then those models are treated as Normal Models. Period. Dead Man's Hand is not a Faction and should not be treated as such. Anyone else seen anything like this? Where people, instead of just saying 'no DMH' are 'allowing' them while putting restrictions on them? From my reading, a TO has every right to not allow the DMH, I have no problem with this. But if they're allowed, they're normal Masters, period, with all hiring options on the table and treated as any other Master in their chosen faction. Am I reading this wrong?
  2. So here's the situation: I was running a Lilith list against my friend, and I used the Transfixing Gaze spell to push one of his units into hazardous terrain. The ability says that the model in question takes damage if it ends the push in base contact with hazardous or impassable terrain. He argues that this damage is from the terrain and not the spell action, therefore the 1/2/3 flip replaced the 1/2/4 for moving through Hazardous terrain. My arguement is that the spell, as an opposed duel, counts as an attack and is the source of the damage, so both flips would apply. Maybe one of us is wrong? Maybe we both are? Does anyone have an answer?
  3. I have played 7 games (3 v Guild, 2 Outcasts, 2 Bayou) while tweaking Lilith rules, trying to put together a suggestion that makes Lilith interesting and viable while fitting into the Nephilim theme. The general consensus at LVO was that she's really lacking, and I fear DMH has discouraged people from trying to fix her. My hope is that a change to her card will inspire people to playtest her. Here is the most interesting combination of abilities we came up with. 0. No matter what, she needs Mistress of Malifaux back. 1. Move Snapping Plants to the front of her card as an always-on 6. (Note that her crew is not protected from the damage.) 2. Give her The Land Consumes (place a Hungry Land marker within 3" at start of activation) and Blood Meal (to place a Hungry Land marker on damage) from her M2e upgrade, modified to replace a corpse marker in range rather than just placing the marker anywhere. The markers are 50mm and either severe, hazardous (1/1/2), and removed on severe damage, or severe, hazardous, destructible (we couldn't agree which was better). 3. Replace or reduce Regeneration with/for Nature's Pact (When a model is killed by damage from hazardous terrain, this model heals 2/3/4). 4. Add "If Lilith is this crew's leader, damage from hazardous terrain triggers Black Blood. This model may not be in the same crew as Nekima or Titania" to the front of her card. This combination of abilities gives Lilith a distinct interaction wilth Black Blood and provides Lilith with a unique play style, while staying somewhat true to her M2e feel. It interacts with the Nephilim grow theme by growing plants in addition to tots, which comes with a fun dilemma for her player. It also fits in the fluff by simulating her rage at being deposed; even her children aren't safe from Malifaux lashing out (which is why we moved Snapping Plants, so both players have to think about it). We didn't feel like this setup was broken, but I'm not the best player. We may have overlooked something. We did test nearly this setup with a fae crew, and the board got a little too crowded, but the crew felt too weak for it to be a concern. Honorable mention: A setup with Stain the Ground (place scheme markers next to enemies that die from BB) and a built in heal 2 trigger on BB Pustule (mimicking The Blood Heals from the same upgrade) was surprisingly fun and fair. It just didn't feel particularly unique.
  4. tl;dr I played Lilith and think she needs something off her old upgrades. Context: I played a game with Lilith a few days ago (into Lady J.). The main point of this game was to get a sense of M3e with our most used M2e masters, but seeing Ramos get updated and the community requested Resser changes in the last pass got me thinking. I'll post a proper battle report if my buddy ever gets around to making a forum account. Opinion: I was generally very pleased by the way Nephilim work; grow is smoother and the crew felt cohesive, powerful, and fluffy. Lilith and her cherub fell short, however. Three things stood out to me each time I activated them. 1. Lilith and her totem are just a little weak. The only part that feels powerful is Tangle Shadows. I expect that ability is taking up most of her power budget. 2. I would almost always have been better off with Nekima. I checked her card every turn during this game, and wished I had something on it each time. 3. Lilith felt really generic and shallow. I never felt like Startle was the right choice and didn't use it. Snapping Plants had a little impact, but is passive. Tangle Shadows was quite nice, and I used it every turn I could, but that made turns very similar. All her other actions are available elsewhere in her crew. Fixes: It's entirely possible Lilith is balanced the way she is. It does seem like masters are generally a little toned down and standardized to their crew this edition. I would still like to see one of these changes made to help Lilith stand out. I am only focusing on fixing 2 and 3, as I don't have a good notion expected power levels this edition. While I feel like the cherub is weak as well, I'd like to see that power budgeted into making Lilith more interesting to activate rather than improving it directly. F1. Give Lilith The Land Consumes and the Blood Meal trigger off her The Land Consumes upgrade. It's a very thematic ability that'll help her stand out well. Not including Intelligent Plants interacts well with Black Blood by allowing her crew to wound themselves while walking. I think this would be the most interesting choice and will not be too powerful. F2. Give her an ability like Sudden Darkness, the ability to ignore terrain when charging, and a version of Illusionary Forest off of Beckon Malifaux. This fix still has her playing somewhat like Nekima, but gives her more of a terrain focused game. It'd be just enough to make her interesting. F3. Give her Transfixing Gaze off of Wicked Mistress and make Snapping Plants 4-5 inches. While this solidifies her identity as the Nephilim master who brings the enemies to her, and still plays on her terrain subtheme, I don't think this is a great way to go. It would still be more interesting than now, though. Again, I don't expect these fixes to immediately be balanced. I'd like to playtest them, though. I feel we can lose a couple of hp, lower Regeneration to +1 and/or remove Startle or Black Blood Pustule to compensate. Questions: So now that I've laid out my opinion, I've got a few questions for y'all. I didn't participate in the closed beta, and I'm not sure about DMH's place in the open beta. Q1. Is this level of focus on Lilith worth my time? She was my first master, so I'll probably still play her regardless of power until a TO tells me no. I could put this effort toward Pandora or The Dreamer instead. Q2. Were any of these ideas tried and discarded in the closed beta? Q3. Is it worth submitting a battle report without a play-by-play account? I remember this game well enough, but didn't take notes. Relatedly, should I submit it if my opponent never makes a forum account? Q4. Am I way off base here? This is all based on one game and a lot of thinking. Thank you for reading all this. Especially thank you to the game devs who are working so hard to make M3e great. I'm really excited to see the final result.
  5. Hello Guys, I'm kinda new to Malifaux and yesterday I got to face Lilith. I'm using Ulix and my pigs they got obliterated with rooted condition. As it says that it "Rooted stops the model from Walking or Charging, and if they are pushed the condition is removed" Is that mean that the only way to eliminate rooted condition is by pushing the model? or it is just a temporary condition that will be remove next turn? just like slow and paralyze.
  6. I'm starting to finish painting a bunch of my nephilim and would like to try them out. I have a couple of lists that I'm thinking of running in an advantageous pool like headhunter with dig their graves or mark for death. List one is a lot more aggressive, the second one has more activations but less credible threats. When the strat and schemes want you to kill anyway growing shouldn't feel like a third scheme but aomething that just happens. List two kind of lacks teeth but can single out enemy models and trigger pounces en masse. If they get to your tots you can grow their buddies with the corpse. I'm also having trouble deciding between the pukesnake and cherub. Cards are nice but with my intended plays I think the (0) interacts might be crucial. Suggestions? List 1 50 SS Neverborn Crew Lilith + 6 Pool (or 5, see below) - Beckon Malifaux (1) - Wicked Mistress (1) - On Wings Of Darkness (1) Primordial Magic (2) or Cherub (3) Barbaros (10) - A Thousand Faces (1) Mature Nephilim (11) - A Thousand Faces (1) Young Nephilim (6) Young Nephilim (6) Terror Tot (4) Terror Tot (4) List 2 50 SS Neverborn Crew Lilith + 6 Pool - Rapid Growth (1) - On Wings Of Darkness (1) - Beckon Malifaux (1) Primordial Magic (2) or Cherub (3) Lilitu (7) - A Thousand Faces (1) Black Blood Shaman (7) Young Nephilim (6) Young Nephilim (6) Terror Tot (4) Terror Tot (4) Terror Tot (4) Terror Tot (4) List 3 (I had to try with Lucius). I'm kind of liking the pounce trap within the aura. The scribe raising the already decent defence on most nephilim and protecting them through red tape could prove more worth it than the cards from the snake. 50 SS Neverborn Crew Lucius + 4 Pool Primordial Magic (2) Mr. Graves (8) - A Thousand Faces (1) Lilitu (7) - A Thousand Faces (1) Black Blood Shaman (7) Young Nephilim (6) Young Nephilim (6) Terror Tot (4) Terror Tot (4) Terror Tot (4)
  7. Hi, I've very recently started playing Malifaux and so far, for Neverborn, I have the starter box, the Lilith box and Mr. Graves. Now I'm looking at expanding with another master box and a smaller model box or two. I guess most people will recommend a Doppleganger and/or Nekima but when it comes to which master box I'm more uncertain. Any opinions or suggestions would be much appreciated.
  8. Ok, bear with me for a minute... I am looking to make an elite killing squad to run when I don't feel like unpacking a bunch of models (Collodi). Here are my thoughts so far... Lilith with Beckon Malifaux and Wicked Mistress Nekima Barbaros Mature Nephelim which leaves me with 13 points. I can either run Killjoy (nicely painted Carver) or Hooded Rider plus Fears Given Form on Nekima. Again, keep in mind that I am looking to drop an elite killing crew on the table, preferably keeping it at 5 models. Who would you run as your fifth model, and what upgrades would you toss in if extra points are available. Looking forward to hearing your answers. Thanks.
  9. Hello We are creating some thematic but at the same time fun and competitive crews. The goal is to create a large enough pool (20 models max) for players who will be using 1 master and need a crew well-rounded. I've included a list but your suggestion will be most welcome, please suggested to me if add, remove, or simply reduce the number of models needed! (all the models in production are good). Lilith Pool (mostly Nephilim crew not based specifically on growth) Cherub Barbaros Nekima Scion of the Black Blood BB Shaman Tuco Lelu Lilitu Angel Eyes Mature Nephilim 2 x Young Nephilim 3 x Tots 2 x Bloodwretches 3 x Waldgeist Pandora Pool (mostly Woe and Nightmare) Poltergeist Candy Widow Weaver Doppleganger Mr Tannen Lust Coppelius Iggy Teddy Baby Kade 3 x Insidious Madness 3 x Sorrows 3 x Alps Generic Pool (Shared) Primordial Magic Mysterious Emissary Mysterious Effigy Hooded Rider Note: the number of models is that one of the original boxes Many thanks in advance (The same post will be added to the various faction forums)
  10. Hello friends o' Black Blood. I'm interrested in playing a highly competitive Lilith crew. First: Is that possible? Second: Which models do i have to hire for that (in general)? Third: Which playstyle is the 'best'? Straightforward/Grow/Hide&Run etc... Thanks Tobi aka Frozen Feet
  11. I started playing Malifaux with Jacob Lynch starter, depleted, graves, tannen and beckoners; and then I bought lilith starter, waldgeists and the nephilim box. I have played around 15 games, amd I always find incredibly difficult to play against summoners ( I played against Family Tree Somer, Ulix and the Dreamer) I always find myself outactivated, and outmaneuvered. Can you help me explaining me how this masters deal with summoners?
  12. I was playing a game last night on vassal with a friend and I had placed Liliths illusionary forest markers in front of his Nikodem crew. A question came up with line of site when he moved Nik into the right of the "two" forest markers and did his Mwahaha which affected markers that were adjacent to the other forest marker. The question was, if you're stood in one of the forest markers do you get line of site through the other as they're placed as one casting action, or does the other one block line of site as they're two separate counters placed in base contact? In this case I allowed my friend to reposition his Nik so that he was based in both which cancelled the argument. But for future reference it would be good to know. Thanks
  13. Hey, I'm a semi new player and I've just picked up my second master. I started with Dreamer and I have enough of an understanding to feel comfortable learning a second master. So I bought Lilith, and while thinking about how to start playing her I had the thought, how viable are dedicated split synergy crews? For example, If I ran Dreamer as Master, and took Barbaros as a henchmen, could running 2 mini crews, one of nightmares and one of Nephilim work or would you be sacrificing too much of each crews potential for it to work. I feel that it could work as you are not wholly reliant on just Dreamers movement and summoning, or just Nephilim push and melee prowess but a little of both. I'm interested in this concept as a whole in Malifaux not just with Dreamer and Lilith, though that is were my understanding is currently best. Cheers Dan
  14. Just a quick word of advice to new players to the game drawn to the Guild. Don't start your Malifaux experience with Lucius, and ESPECIALLY don't do that when your opponent is playing Lilith. Just trust me on this, you will spare yourself a ton of butthurt. On a positive note, my second game I took McMourning as a Resser with just the boxed set models, and apart from messing up near the end of the game on order of activation, could have pretty comprehensively curbstomped my opponent. Paralyzing Nakima with a Nurse is so good, so very very good... If you want to stick with Guild, after doing some reading and wrapping my head around the game a bit more, I see how Lucius can be good, but he's no master for a beginning player. The game makes my head hurt bad enough without going to the most subtle, combo intensive, and tricksy master in the Guild faction.
  15. I'm trying to build a 35 and 50 SS list with Lilith but I only have the upgrades from the Mother of Monsters box. Are those good enough for now? The closest LGS is an hour away without traffic so I don't have easy access to any arsenal packs. Will I still have game as is?

  18. Does a lure totally trump the tangled condition? The condition states a move or charge cannot be declared, and a lure is an undeclared move, so avoids the 3 damage too
  19. My first Malifaux battle report. Like in the title: Lilith vs Kaeris. 50SS Full report on my blog. Take a look at free time:) https://gameoftravel.com/2016/05/23/battle-report-malifaux-neverborn-lilith-vs-arcanists-kaeris/
  20. Hey guys/gals. Been playing the viks for a long time now and I've really grown to love trappers and lazarus. Both are usually instrumental in my games. My style has typically been playing a gunline with the viks cleaning anything up that comes to engage it/running schemes. Crew normally looks like: Viks, Vanessa or Hanna, 2 trappers, Lazarus, Librarian, and Child. I'm interested in lilith and I think I could transfer this playstyle to her. My thoughts being - Better card managment, better control, slightly better scheme running at the cost of the viks amazing damage potential. I realize a strength in malifaux is being able to change your crews up and play different stuff depending but for me, I like to typically play the same crew/master over and over, in bad and good matchups regardless. I'll rarely change out a model unless I suspect a direct counter (and even then, often times I'll still play it to see). I find it helps me to just play better. So after all that, this is just another list review. I'm wondering if people think this would work with Lilith, 50ss Crew Lilith -- 5ss +Beckon Malifaux - 1ss (maybe wings of darkness, I suspect using stones to keep nekima alive though). Primordial Magic - 2ss Doppleganger - 7ss Freikorps Trapper - 7ss Lazarus - 11ss Nekima - 13ss Terror Tot - 4ss Terror Tot - 4ss The idea being that the dopple mimics either the trapper or lazarus early game to shore up my guns and then can become a nekima/sprinter later when needed. Lilith messes with peoples plans and nekima plays bodyguard to the list. Tots run schemes and allow for swaps. I have 1 point sorta free. Essentially the list would function similar to my viks list with lilith and nekima playing the role of cleanup beaters. Would it work well? Or should I just stick the list with the viks?
  21. Does Lilith DF trigger stacks ? For example when model with flurry or enemy Master miss two times with ML action and Lilith flip is mask for both DF flips, will Disappear "-2 to ML actions" apply twice ? so this model next attack against Lilith will be with -4 ML ?
  22. I can't imagine this hasn't been answered somewhere, but sadly my search abilities are not up to the challenge. Fuhatsu's Braced Ability states that "This model is immune to movement and push effects that are not caused by this model taking a walk action." So my question s whether Lilith's Tangle Shadows -- and "place" effects in general -- are movement effects? From the big rule book, page 42: "Any time a model is moving across the table it is called movement." Which sadly doesn't clarify for me whether a "place" is "moving across the table" or not, since all the other aspects of "moving across the table" (like moving around other objects) aren't relevant to a place, which in some ways seems obviously "movement" -- the model gets moved -- and in some ways obviously not a movement -- the model doesn't move so much as disappear and reappear. And just so it's all here, Lilith's Tangle Shadows: Select a friendly model within 6" of this model and place it into base contact with the target model. If the friendly model can be placed, then place the target model in base contact with this one. I did notice in one the 10T threads someone mentioned having their Fuhatsu Tangled by Lilith, but that doesn't seem definitive. Thanks in advance.
  23. I've played about a dozen games so far with Neverborn, most with dreamer and a few with Lynch. I've been looking at Lilith and want to learn how she plays. The crew I've thought of to start this is - Lilith -- 7ss +Beckon Malifaux - 1ss +On Wings Of Darkness - 1ss Primordial Magic - 2ss Insidious Madness - 5ss Insidious Madness - 5ss Mysterous Effigy - 4ss Nekima - 13ss +The Mimic's Blessing - 1ss Tuco - 7ss +The Mimic's Blessing - 1ss Waldgeist - 6ss Any suggestions as to if this is usable as a general start to learning her would be greatly appreciated.
  24. So I'm playing a league and I'm thinking of premaking a list for this round since we already know all the information about the match. Opponent: Outcasts Strategy: Reconnoiter Schemes: LitS, Assassinate, Bodyguard, Frame for Murder, Make them Suffer Deployment: Corners List: Lilith (Cache=4+0) -Wicked Mistress 1ss -Beckon Malifaux 1ss Nekima 13ss -Fears given form 1ss -The true mother 2ss Angel Eyes 9ss -Rapid growth 1ss -Strange aliances 1ss 3x Terror Tot 12ss Primordial Magic 2ss Black Blood Shaman 7ss ------ Basically the idea would be taking Make them Suffer and Bodyguard on Angel Eyes. Since the strategy requires fast (weaker) minions, Nekima and Angel should be killing at least 1 model per turn, while trying to summon some Tots with Nekima thanks to her own (0) and the Black Blood Pustule from the Shaman. Both Angel and the Shaman create a 12'' bubble of growth, though the Shaman's only allows to grow Tots into Youngs. I'll try to be aggressive with Nekima, maybe swapping her in in exchange for a weaker model (rat, waif, freikorpsmann...) to spawn some extra Tots and evolving others. The idea is to make it look like I'm going for frame for murder on Nekima, while scoring Make them Suffer, and then reveal Bodyguard on Angel by turn 4. Thoughts? First time trying a proper growth list.
  25. Hi, I'm a fairly new Neverborn player and I have been rapidly buying into the game. I've played largely Lilith so far, since I really enjoy her versatility, but am also comfortable playing Pandora/Dreamer. That said, where applicable, I prefer to play Lilith because Beckon Malifaux is the shit. So, I have a GG2016 tournament coming up on the 2nd of April that will be using Turf War for all three rounds (deployment/schemes randomly determined). To me (and my limited experience) this would seem that Pandora would rock the hardest. I'm trying to decide which of the above three to play, and I know that generally you should play what you're most comfortable with, but I'm also looking at this tournament as more of a valuable learning experience than to WAAC - so if I lose, but learn a lot, I'm happy to kick it with a non-Lilith master. I've got a few generic starting lists here, and would love your advice on which you think could get me further (they only go to ~40 points since I figure I can tailor the last ~10 towards the particular schemes). Lilith: Lilith w/ Beckon Malifaux and On Wings of Darkness - The Master, with my standard loadout. I can't imagine playing Lilith without either of these. Cherub - Totem, could switch it for pMagic, but I want to try the pushing shenanigans. But who knows, Rush of Magic is pretty dandy. Black Blood Shaman - Just got my hand on them and want to try it out. I think the healing along with the Pustule could be super helpful, but unsure. Maybe a better use of 7 points elsewhere. Doppleganger - Honestly if all she did was cheat initiative, I'd still love her. Nekima w/ FGF - I've had some good experiences with her massive engagement range + FGF, and figure it would be nice alongside BBS. Tuco - Advance deployment, blast markers, pushes, prevents walking/charging... and given a good hand, allows me to shunt Nekima into the enemy's face with Tangle Shadows. Pandora: Pandora w/ AEther Connection and The Box Opens - The Master, figure this setup is better for when I know where the enemy's going to be. Doppleganger - I really love her. McTavish w/ Hexed Among You - Another 'I'm getting the model and want to try it out'-case, I also like the advance deployment on Waldgeists. But maybe a Bad Juju would do well, since the enemy's going to have to deal with the Waldgeists? Being able to shoot into melee and getting a bonus for nearby Swampfiends seems pretty sweet for Turf War, though. Sorrow - Aura could do work, but dunno. Maybe an Insidious instead? This is where my inexperience kicks in... Maybe a Mr. Graves to push McTavish up closer to the action? Waldgeist Waldgeist - Dat engagement range. Dreamer: Not too sure, since I prefer the above two, but if he has a clear advantage over them, I'm happy to throw down with him, too. Gotta learn sometime! So, yea. TLDR: upcoming 50ss tournament this weekend that uses the GG2016 scheme pool and Turf War for all 3 rounds. Fairly new player wondering if he should run Pandora because she seems sick at area control or Lilith because he's more comfortable playing her, and then any advice on lists is appreciated. Also the lists deliberately do not go up to 50ss, since the last few is to be tailored to the specific pool/deployment/faction. Thanks for any and all advice!
