Hello Southern California Malifaux and tabletop gamers, WE"RE BACK AGAIN! Malifaux will be present with several events and lots of local players ready to have a great time. Everything from Henchman Hardcore, Demo's, and open play will be at ORCCON, (Strategicon) on Saturday. If you have been interested in Malifaux then please stop on by. We will be there Feb. 17th from 12:00PM - 5:00PM and will have several tables set up with terrain and supplies. Now is a great chance to jump in and see what Malifaux has to offer. For all those Tournament Players out there, we will be hosting a Gaining Grounds Henchman Hardcore, (pending registration,) on Sunday from 12:00PM - 3:00PM. More details below. Purchase your Malifaux ticket here: http://www.lasvegasopen.net/ Balleys, Las Vegas Nevada Friday : Enforcer Brawl 12:00 pm Start Time 4:00 pm End Time Max Players 24 Wyrd Official Enforcer Brawl Format: The Enforcer Brawl is an arena death match where players take their favorite Enforcers and wreak as much mayhem as possible! This is a great format to use if you have spent all day playing competitively and your group is looking for something more laid back for the evening. It is also a great way to spend an afternoon if you want something different. This format is best played with between 4 and 8 participants; if your group has more people than this, you may want to consider breaking up into multiple Enforcer Brawls which are played simultaneously.Rules:Each player selects one Enforcer and attaches up to one Upgrade to it. The Upgrade must be something the Enforcer could have attached at the start of a normal game considering its Faction(s). (Leader only Upgrades may not be selected, for example.) The Enforcer must be one with a Cost which may be hired (no Coryphee Duets, for example). The game is played on a standard table. Each player flips a card to determine deployment order; the player who flips highest deploys first, followed by the second highest, etc., until each player has deployed their Enforcer. If two or more players are tied, they reflip amongst themselves. Models may be deployed anywhere on the table which is more than 6” from another model. Play proceeds for 6 rounds. Each round, all players flip for initiative; the player who flips highest must go first, followed by the second highest, etc. until all players have gone. If two or more players are tied, they reflip amongst themselves. If a model receives Reactivate, it receives a second Activation at initiative -1 (if multiple models Reactivate, they flip to determine which goes first). Before the game, assign a suit (R, t, etc.) to each table edge. On a player’s initiative, if they have no models in play or buried, they must flip a card which may not be cheated (reflipping jokers). The player places a new copy of the model they chose at the start of the Brawl (including its Upgrade) within 6” of the board edge corresponding to the suit flipped and then proceeds with their Activation as normal. Restrictions: The Enforcer Brawl has the following restrictions/rules:Players have a hand of 4 cards, instead of the usual 6.Any Actions, Abilities, or Triggers which summon models are considered to be “blank” (they may not be used and have no effect on the game, as if they were not printed on the model).When a model is buried, it may choose to be sacrificed instead (in which case it counts as sacrificed by the model which forced it to become buried). Scoring: At the end of 6 Turns, the player with the highest Victory Points wins. Players score VP in the following manner:3 VP for each opposing model killed or sacrificed. A player scores 4 VP instead if the model they killed or sacrificed had a higher Soulstone Cost (including the cost of Upgrades) than their model did.1 VP for dealing 1 or more damage to an undamaged enemy (this may stack with killing the model). A player scores 2 VP instead if the model they damaged had a higher Soulstone Cost (including the cost of Upgrades) than their model did-3 VP for each time the player’s model was killed or sacrificed.Groups are encouraged to come up with their own variant methods of scoring by including things like hidden Schemes, bonus points for killing certain models, area control, rules for attaching more Upgrades, etc. These are the base rules, have fun with them! Friday: Henchman Hardcore 5:00 pm Start Time 7:30 pm End Time Max Players 24 Wyrd Official Henchman Hardcore Format: Henchman Hardcore is a tournament version of Malifaux which focuses on quick, brutal decision making. It is perfect for a group which wants to face a new challenge and experiment with Malifaux in a slightly different environment. The key differences between Henchman Hardcore and regular Malifaux are the reduced game size (20 Soulstones) and the fact that all Crews must be led by a Henchman. Due to the emphasis on speed it may not be the best format for new players, but this can be overcome by adjusting the round times to the needs of your group. Restrictions: Henchman Hardcore is different from standard Malifaux in the following ways: All Crews must be led by a Henchman, not a Master.The game size is 20 Soulstones. All Crews must contain exactly 4 models, no more, no less. Upgrades may be purchased, as allowed by the standard rules of Malifaux. The size of a Crew’s Soulstone Pool is limited by the Cache of the Henchman leading it; any Soulstones above this amount are discarded.Any Actions, Abilities, or Triggers which summon models are considered to be “blank” (they may not be used and have no effect on the game, as if they were not printed on the model).Only one Scheme will be available.The same Crew must be used in each round of the event. Set Up: All rounds use the following set up: Deployment: Close. Strategy: Hardcore Turf War. This Strategy uses the Turf War rules (Core Rulebook pg. 66) with the exception that VP may be scored on the first Turn. Scheme Pool: Assassinate (Core Rulebook pg. 68). This is the only Scheme available and it must always be taken. Tournament Rules: Use Gaining Grounds to determine pairings and score the event to determine the winner. Only the round times are different from the Gaining Grounds tournament standard: All round times are 30 minutes. Saturday: Broken Promises, Vegas Style 50 SS Gaining Grounds Tournament 10:00 am Registration 10:30 am Start Time 7:30 pm End time if 3 Rounds. 9:00 pm End Time if 4 Rounds. Each round is 105 minutes plus 10 minutes for setup Lunch from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm Paint and basing required (basing has to have at least paint, sand or flock on it) Max Players 24 Sunday: “Malifaux Open Gaming” 10:00am to 6:00pm Free to participate in with the purchase of your Convention Badge. Come celebrate ROCK-CON's 45 Anniversary and enjoy a weekend of Malifaux. http://www.rock-con.com/ Friday - Enforcer Brawl Royal 7PM - 11PM, 45 minute games with up to 4 different rounds depending on players. Casual play with novice and experienced players alike. Have fun playing in this modified Enforcer Brawl. Players choose up to three enforcers from any faction with a soulstone cost of 10 or less. NO UPGRADES. We will be using upgrades from the campaign pack during the event. Full rules will be provided at the time of the event. Saturday - 2017 Gaining Grounds Tournament 9AM - 7PM(?) This will be a 3, possibly 4 round tournament (depending on numbers of players and player preference) Standard 50 SS tournament using the Gaining Grounds 2017 format. Registration will begin at 9:00 AM with play beginning at 10:00 AM. Full rules at the event Sunday- Harried and Hurried Hardcore Henchman 9AM - 1PM Speed Dating for Malifaux! This is a modified Hardcore Henchman format to allow maximum carnage in minimum time. Score points as quickly as possible, total points scored will determine the standings. There are 5 scenarios in the demo which will take you step-by-step through every mechanic of the game. Each scenario will take about 20 minutes and you can play as many or as few as you wish. For those interested in the Henchman Hardcore we will be hosting a Gaining Grounds 2017, July 2017 Errata Henchman Hardcore tournament starting Sunday at 12:00PM, registration starts at 11:30. more details in below links. So I am a pretty good DM for other systems. I've played TTB a couple of times at my local store in pick up games, but I've never Fatemastered before. So naturally I got convinced to run a game at a nearby convention. Submitting events is still open, but I have no idea what Penny Dreadful to run... I've run organized play events for D&D for a few years so I think I've got the basics down as far as organizing this. Just the adventure is the hard one to pick out and allocating for the time. So far I have access to the following: Honor Among Thieves In The Gutter Legacy of Darkness Night In Rottenburg(Seems long...) Recruitment Drive Crossroad 7's box set I also know there are several inside the Wyrd Chronicles that I could possibly run. The main thing is I want something that is Fun with equal parts combat and roleplaying. What do you suggest? I am willing to buy a new Penny Dreadful if necessary. -

Malifaux returns to What-Khan in 2016! Located inside the Mercy Sportscore 2 Complex, at 8800 East Riverside Blvd., Rockford, Illinois 61111, What-Khan is a three day event taking place Friday, October 21st through Sunday, the 23rd. Malifaux events will be held the Friday night, and all day Saturday. There's a lot going on at the convention, including a silent auction, door prizes, and lots of vendors; Be sure to check out http://www.what-khan.com for all the details. Registration must be completed on the What-Khan site in order to participate in the events, and badges can be purchased for the entire weekend, or just a single day. Friday, October 21st, from 2pm to 11pm: Open gaming, demos, and the Divergent Paths global event will be available all day. Come play some games, mingle with your fellow Breachsiders, and have some fun. Saturday, October 22nd, from 9am to 11pm: Tournament day! This will be a three round tournament, scored Gaining Grounds 2016, at 50ss, locked faction, for up to 16 players. On Saturday, March 5th, I'll be running a 4 round 16 player Gaining Grounds Tournament and a 16 Player Henchman Hardcore Tournament at the Games and Dice Convention (Gadcon) held annually in Aberdeen, MD. This is the first year that Malifaux will appear there, and I'm excited to help bring the Wyrd-ness to the con! Gadcon's website is here: http://jestergamesmd.com/ Registration for the Con is required to attend, but both events take place on Saturday, so you can attend on a one day pass if need be. There will be an option for each event to be purchased ala carte, but there will be a reduced price for purchasing both. Registration for the Malifaux events are not yet active, but I will post once that option is available. Space is limited, and once spots are sold out, there will be no more! Prize support will be provided by Wyrd and by Bel Air Games, an excellent store for those in the Bel Air/Baltimore area! I highly recommend a visit!

Malifuax is returning to What-Khan in 2015! Located in the Indoor Sports Center at 8800 East Riverside Blvd., Rockford, IL, What-Khan is a three day event beginning on Friday, October 23rd and running through the Sunday the 25th. Malifaux events will be held every day of the convention, and registration on What-Khan.com must be completed in order to participate. An entry fee to the convention will apply, but there are no entry fees for any Malifaux events. Visit What-khan.com for additional details and registration info. Schedule Friday, October 23rd, 2pm until 11pm: Open gaming, demos, enforcer brawls, hardcore henchman battles, and story encounters will be available to all players and attendees of the convention. Saturday, October 24th, 9am until 11pm: Tournament Day! This will be a three round tournament, scored Gaining Grounds, at 50ss, for up to 16 players. Rounds have a 1:45hr time limit with a 15min break between rounds, and a 1hr lunch/dinner break after round 2. Prizes for first and second place, and a raffle will be held after the tournament. Raffle tickets will be awarded throughout the day, and there will be a bonus round allowing players the opportunity to earn more tickets. The bonus round will not affect tournament scores. Check-in will start at 10am, and cards flip for round 1 at noon. Round 1 - Guard the Stash, standard deployment. This coming weekend we'll be have our yearly convention, Salt City Gladiator Games. The fun begins on Friday at 10am when the doors open. We'll be running demos and a continuous Enforcer Brawl that gives players tickets for the convention raffle until 4:30 pm when we start signup for our first event, a Henchman Hardcore tournament. Saturday we'll again be running demos and the Enforcer Brawl until 12:30 so we can get ready for our 50 ss Gaining Grounds Tournament. Depending on participants, the event will last 4 rounds after which we'll be going out for pizza and drinks at The Lucky Slice. We'll finish off the weekend Sunday with our continuing Enforcer Brawl and speed painting contest at 10 am and a Story Encounter tournament with sign up at 11:30. We're really excited to be back for a second year at SCGG and we have lots of fun events and prize support from Wyrd, Wizard Widgets, Secret Weapon and others.
