After being pelted by the sweltering summer heat, the relentless sun finally begins to set. Soon, beneath the glistening moonlight, the city comes alive. Streets glow from lanterns and hung torches. Taverns with fresh ale welcome you in with both candlelight and faint neon magic. And even the darkest of alleyways flicker with well-lit cigars and glowing eyes. Even in the night, the darkness is kept at bay. City Nights is our first light-based painting contest, focusing primarily on Object Source Lighting (OSL) to light up characters by using the light from objects on the model itself, highlighting both the glow of the object and the darkness behind its shadows. Let’s shine a light on the details: Submissions will be accepted from now until midnight EST (UTC -4) on August 14th, 2022. We encourage you to submit your entries early as no submission will be accepted after the cutoff, with no exceptions.
