  1. I decided that I'd post up pictures of the minis I've paitned for what is probably my favorite space marine chapters- the Salamaners. I have painted a lot of them over the years. The first is a whole army that I painted over the course of several years for a client. For this force, we went with a sort of combined interpretation for Salamander skin- they have an African skin tones with the yellow hair that older Salamanders have had, but not the drow skin or eyes that some of them have. The force was started before the more recent wave of Salamanders, and the fluff on them has g
  2. Hey, thought I'd post some pictures of stuff I've been working on and also can serve as my commission portfolio. So to start things off, I painted up the new death marshals today for my tara crew, they're a mid range paint job with 3-4 highlights on each model. I'm tempted to try and do some source lighting on them, but not sure how to go about doing it. I don't have access to an airbrush and i'm not a fan of the watering down method. not sure about drybrushing it on, although i find that tends to be the best result for a smooth transition of light. Let me know what you gu
  3. The movie Armed and Dangerous was about a couple security guards in an armored car. I though to play off that with an Armored Mouse from last years Reapercon. I wanted to do a chapter theme so I went with Fire Whelps (Salamanders). The head on the shoulder was an impact model and I made his eye a targeter. The opposite shoulder was a dragon head sculpted. The cloak and tabard was sculpted as were the rope and medallions. Thanks for looking he was very fun.
  4. Good evening Malifans! My name is Jamie an I'm from sunny Stoke-on-Trent in the UK (although I'm originally from Nottingham, home of Robin Hood!). Back when I was 13 (half my life ago) me and my friends were introduced by some spotty, nerdy types to a miniature wargame called Warhammer 40k. We swiftly built and rather choppily painted models (Blood Angels for me, thanks!) for about a year until we got distracted by other facets of teen-age such as growing mustaches and kissing girls. But in those 12 months, me, and one of my closest friends James, really developed something of a passion
  5. Well last night I was battling insomnia, so I took this mini, which has been sitting on the table, primed, for months, and tried to finish it in one night. I succeeded (for the most part) except for a few highlights this morning when I got up. I think for a grand total of about three hours work, it turned out pretty good. Pssst - its also for sale... /end shameless self promotion.
