  1. Hey all; just picked up a box of crooked men today from my local store Element Games and was wondering if anyone has had any fun experiences getting shafted by these minions and their aptly names tactical ability 'Shafted'. Also where are people using these guys - I squeezed one in a hardcore game recently and have one or two swelling the ranks of my Mcmourning crews; found them to be really fun especially with that paralyse trigger.

  4. So I though it would be kinda cool to put these out there and see what people thought and why. I will answer most questions (if there are any) after 20+ votes are cast. I tried to take the best pics I could for you guys. Nighthater
  5. I'm starting Yan Lo; this is what I have so far: Yan Lo Chiaki Soul Porter 4 Ashigaru 5 30mm Objective Markers (graves) 1 50mm Objective Marker (torii) And this is what's to come: Izamu the Armor Toshiro the Daimyo Yin the Penangalan 3 Samurai Punk Zombies Graveyard display base I'll be doing something special with Izamu, he's going to be the centrepiece of the Crew. I'm working on him now and he is to be finished by the end of the month (hopefully even sooner so I can enter him to the Wyrd contest on Wamp).
  6. EDITED: I´m posting this topic here because I did it in a wrong sub-forum earlier. .-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.--.-. Hi all! (sorry for my bad english..) I´m starting in MX and I´m decided to play with Ressers, but not sure about the master: I like Seamus and Mc Mourning for different reasons, but I also have some doubts on both of them. So, I´d like to have your advice about which one would be more Competitive and more kindred to my way of play; considering this facts: 1 . Competition In my gaming Club I´ll mainly have to face: 1. Lady Justice 2. Victorias 3. Ten Thunders (Misaki) 4. Nicodem 2 . My gaming style I like Ressers for affinity (creepy… jeje) and the game history. Talking about style, I´d like to combine summoning and melee. This is where doubts come to my mind, for example: Seamus Pros: He´s a decent melee guy and have a simple kind of summonings. Fun to play for what I´ve seen. Seamus Cons: Like his history, but not that much.. Don´t like to much the "attack and run" style… Mc Mourning Pros: LOVE his history and miniatures! =) Mc Mourning Cons: Poison Based Strategy… This is the main reason why I still having doubts on him. Feel like the poison technic is quite complex and boring to play; don´t like the idea of being poisoning around, waiting for the enemies to die and escaping meanwhile.. What if my opponent can make a full "Poison Immune" crew? … Well, this is the question. As a note, we are ok to play with proxys, so there´s no problem about how many and which miniatures I´d need to get for each one. I just want to decide based on this two points; all opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance guys =)

  8. Hi there, My first post on the forums after skulking for a few months. I'm relatively new to the game and still learning and expanding my first crew, Kirai. Here's my Master then. Painted fairly typically, I have changed the head on her base into a soot sprite! I've got a twisted version of Kirai running through my crew's theme, which is a sort of 'Return to Spirited Away'. All my my crew will be mounted on wooden boards too, a reference to the bath house from the Spirited Away film. Here's the Ikiryo. Amusingly the second figure in my crew immediately clashes with the background theme. Rather than dwell on it, Ikiryo signifies the darker world of Malifaux that Kirai is in and has no link to Spirited Away. I've painted this a bit differently to the standard look. Anyway, feedback very much appreciated. I've got more figures on the way :Rat_RedPaint:
  9. Hey everyone. I'm starting work on my first crew, Resurrectionists with Yan Lo as my main Master. The first member of the crew is done! May I present, Toshiro. More to come soon.
  10. The last couple of years or so have been busy on the Malifaux front and I just thought I'd share a few pics of where I'm up to with my Ressers! Taken with my phone so the pic quality isn't great but you get the idea! Seamus McMourning Nicodem Kirai Some Minions The Big Guns! Included Killjoy here as I never use him with my Outcasts (which is just Viktorias at mo). Hope you like, more coming soon!
  11. I just realized I had these posted on my FB & G+ stuff, but not on the actual Malifaux site and that seemed backwards! So heres a little Resurrectionist love. The bases are just apoxie sculpt and a press mold from a silicone trivet that had a honey comb pattern- it took alot of hand smoothing to get the 'grout lines' to a reasonable size as they were too wide off the origianl press. But it turned out OK. Just more work than I had hoped. Just need to clean up the base rims and add some little junk and seal them- and fix the nurses shoes the red shoes get scratched up when I was getting them socketed to the bases. Which sucked because they have/had like 5 layers of shading... Did these guys tonight during The Walking Dead(Nicodem lives in Atlanta and is the cause of the whole outbreak!!) and a few hours after watching some friends RP online(D&D via webcam is a form of comedic entertainment!). But Im pretty happ with them for an evening of work. Need to work on the chubby dudes face a bit, and hit boots, the two zombie guys clothes need highlighting...Nicos legs and hat...bird....stick...belt... But I like the zombie chick. Even got her dress all dirty!
  12. Got a big weekend of Malifaux coming up next weekend (Gottacon in Victoria, BC), so I'm taking the opportunity to paint up as much as possible! I just finished up McMourning today (except the base) and splashed a bit of red on Izamu.
  13. I have just seen a video dating to 1940's Russia, which details the reanimation of a dog's body (in whole and in literal parts). For those who wish to see this video, be warned as it is rather disturbing, and details what can be considered cruelty to animals. I do not endorse such things, take note; I just want to gauge people's thoughts on the matter. The video link extension for YouTube is here: /watch?v=HkBiflN1dF4 Allegedly this was a real, and successful experiment. Others were able to replicate results and modify the experiments to end up with two-headed dogs, an ape with the body of another ape, and that's about where the experiments ended, because there were not enough willing humans for the experiments. The ape story is here, if anyone wishes to read it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/1263758.stm Now, credibility aside, my main query is this: I am wondering if the creator(s) of Dr. Douglas McMourning as a character looked into this video at all when conceptualizing him. Does McMourning go beyond the fantasy of Dr. Frankenstein? I would like to know, and I'd hope that this thread makes others wonder as well. ~Lil Kalki P.S. - If this is the wrong board for this, my apologies, and could someone please move this thread to a more appropriate board if so? Thank you kindly in advance.
  14. Molly has a spell that basically steals a spell until she casts it or casts whispered secret again (the spell that originally steals it) , can my totem use it when it uses its magical extension? It states "gain one of the target's (1) spells. " rest goes on to say the spell expires after cast by this model, etc. and can't use spells that have specific model's names in it. Here's the scenario, molly casts whispered secret on to my rogue necromancy and steals its acid breath, then my Necrotic Machine moves up and casts it through magical extension. To me this sound legal but a bit dodgy, I'd like a clarify this before I start doing this more often. also on a side note would that be considered cast by her for purposes of whispered secrets expiring?
  15. Greetings all, First, let me say, that I really love this game. I have been a wargammer for almost 20 years now and I have never seen a game which combines the same depth Malifaux does in terms of unit selection, scenarios, RNG, etc. However, I wanted to point out one concern I have had since I started as a full time rezzer player. Hopefully, this can be resolved with a go-here-stupid response =) Okay, in general, I think the rules for Malifaux are quite clear. There are some redundancies with duels, etc., but that is what a 1.5 is for, right? However, there seem to be several rulings which have significant changes on the masters beyond rules-as-written. Two examples regarding Nicodem. First, the trigger on his weapon apparently does not work on Ashes and Dust--no zombies are created when it is "killed". Second, on the avatar form, zombies that are killed in his aura (6") drop as corpse counters which he cannot use. Now, this is not intended complain thread, I understand the need for balance--although "balancing" Nico when you have Kirai is...never mind. The point is that these rulings should either be in the PDF or they should be easily accessible. One thing that killed Legend of the Five Rings was a ton of "stealth" rulings that completely boned you when you showed up to tournaments without knowing them. These ruling seem buried in the forums. I could honestly not find them (again) when I looked for them. To simplify, I would suggest a locked thread with all these rulings, perhaps, for each faction.
  16. So my friend and I want to start a group of Malifaux players in our town. I want to start with the Red Chapel Gang box set, maybe add the Undertakers set as well. Then of course get Bete Noir. However neither of us know how to play and therefor I'm not to sure on how to design my crew. I haven't bought anything yet so please feel free to tell me what sounds absurd. The Undertakers box set I'm not too sure on (Is it wise to get 2 box sets or just go with one and add some characters from another?) I am pretty dead set on the Red Chapel gang. Pointers? Thanks P.s. She wants to start with M&SU assets box set, we also have one guy interested in The Mercenaries box set, and a few other people just interested in the game (so we should have at least one crew from each faction)
