  1. I thought I better start a little thread here about our show because, hey, feedback is always great and some people may not even be aware we exist. "What is SMP Radio?" A fortnightly podcast all about Malifaux and every aspect of the hobby. The show is usually around the 2 hour mark and we discuss; our hobby, tournament and battle reports, tactics, painting and much more. Each show we try to have 2-3 different style segments to hopefully include things that you (the listener) would want to hear about. Thanks to the fantastic Austin Capewell, the show is broken down in segments with nice little soundbites meaning that you can just check the show-notes and listen to what you want if for example you dislike painting, don't want to hear about UK events or whatever. Amongst the bigger discussions we like to get our "roving reporter" Mike Hutchinson out on the field and get interviews with people within the community, so far we've had a fantastic painting discussion with GT double paint prize winner James Reeves and Legendary Tournament Organiser Dave Brown about running events. On top of all this hobby chat, we endeavour to run competitions and our first competition "Faux Selfies" has gone down great. "Who are SMP?" Austin Capewell, "Chuckles", one of the funniest and most loveable people in the Malifaux scene. He's our sound guy with actual knowledge and education about this stuff, which isn't me mocking, it's just genuinely rare for a podcast. Also Austin is used to podcasting as he hosted Isle of Faux Records with another one of our hosts... Benjamin Crowe, "The King of the South", Ben is currently the no.1 ranked Malifaux player in the UK and winner of the last GT (soon to be UK Nationals), suffice to say he knows his stuff about Malifaux. Aaron Bailey, experienced in podcasting being on the Lost Lighthouse's Tabletop Project and Tale of 40k Gamers, Aaron is all around hobby machine. Painting award winner and one of the up and coming players. Me! Previously of Malibros and then Malifools, a lot of avid podcast listeners may have already heard from me. Midtable mediocrity is where I sit but I would say I am ever improving. I've been hobbying for a long time and I have done and listened to enough podcasts for a lifetime already. I just don't want to stop. Also, as well as the main crew we have: Mike Hutchinson, our roving reporter, a man with a lovely voice and a good grasp on the pulse of gaming. Mike is also a solid player, great hobbyist and also has a lot of experience with gaming too. Jan Proudley, like Aaron is also on TLL TTP and TO40kGS as well as formerly Malibros and Chasing Bacon that one time. Jan is a great laugh and a top bloke. Jake Barlow, I mention Jake as he is SMP to the core but, suffice to say bar a recent short interview he hasn't been on the show much yet, we are however only 4 episodes in. "All right enough, where can we listen?" http://smpradio.podbean.com/ That is the main address and we are also on iTunes. Also feel free to tweet @SMP_Radio if you'd like to get a hold of us there. Episode 4 is due out as I post this and if you want to hear what we are about then please go back and listen to the previous 3 shows. Thank you for your attention. Much love. -Ben
  2. Hello! I know we announced this on the Wyrd Place facebook group, but I also frequent these forums quite a bit, and figured I would make an announcement here as well. Alan (Al the Zombie) and I (Rudy (EntrepeNinja)) have started up a podcast called "Mistakes Were Made". Derived from something that I found myself saying after making colossal screw ups in games. "Mistakes were made, Dan. Mistakes were made!" So Alan and I started this podcast with the premise that we both have too many masters that we haven't played enough of, so we've started trying to make goals and learn from mistakes, chronicling the lessons we learn, and the games we play, and above all the mistakes. We try and produce every other week, we're three episodes in, recording a fourth tonight with CheatedFatesJoe (aka Rancor). Listen in, if you're looking for something listen to while driving, riding transit, painting, playing minecraft, whatever! 3. Joe and I sat down with Justin to discuss the changes to Gaining Grounds in 2015. Aaron was unable to join us and we had some connection issues, but we hope you enjoy the information we provide. Please let us know any feedback as always. http://cheatedfatesradio.podbean.com/e/cheated-fates-flip-gaining-grounds-2015-with-justin-gibbs/?token=08946e8c522fcb54717a176b1f19f3de
  4. ...and we are back! That's right. Joe and I decided to do some plus flips. They will be releasing the next few weeks. We kick things off with an intro to the short series. We'd love to hear feedback as always and if you have any experiences with 'Changing things up' and want to come on the cast throw us a line and we will see what we can do. Stay tuned for more to come (for our longer format shows you can download our latest ep. Counters and Carebears). And of course we are on iTunes. http://cheatedfatesradio.podbean.com/e/cheated-fates-radio-plus-flip-and-the-case-for-something-new/
  5. Hey everyone. Some of you may have heard of this podcast already but I figured I would throw it on here as well. I just recently started his podcast and just put up episode 5 today. What is this podcast about you might be asking. Well let me tell you. Very quickly this show is about setting up a game of malifaux all the way to the flip for initiative. I am using vassal and a different guest each week and we are setting up the game on there and then going through and discussing our crew choices and what schemes we chose. We also run through our general impressions of what we will be attempting to do in the early turns of the game. That's pretty much it. I don't talk about any new releases, wyrd chronicles, or general ranting as there are plenty of great podcasts doing that out there already. My podcast is just focused on tactics and strategies that go into the game of malifaux. I am also hoping to sit down with my guests and play through the games we have set up and then do a follow up episode which will be a battle report and things we learned. I have been extremely fortunate to have some great guests on the show already and many more lined up to appear in the future. So far on the show I have had joe and Adam of cheated fates radio fame, and also mike and Joel from malifools. So yeah that's it in a nutshell. You can find the show on iTunes and also at the following link. Thanks guys. http://beforewebegin.podbean.com
  6. ...and we are back! It's been a while but it's been a busy past month. In this episode we discuss a popular topic the past month across podcasts, Wyrd Chronicles, and Blogs. Sit back, take a listen, and hear what we've been up to past month. Let us know any feedback. http://s52.podbean.com/pb/002ca3b3e0548b8c1730472095c3b4ea/53a359ad/data1/blogs41/441963/uploads/Controlhand.mp3 http://cheatedfatesradio.podbean.com/e/cheated-fates-radio-and-the-control-hand/
  7. Josh has his M2E Checkers/Chess aha moment and joins Biggles and Myself to discuss. And Oddly Josh takes the time to talk him through the mental baggage that can happen while your fully fleshing out an idea. And I know this episode may cause some yelling at the Pod catcher so feel free to tell us your thoughts. And for Episode 46 Malifauxlady, and Abraxus04 join me for a very in depth overview of the Arcanists. Stay tuned for next week and enjoy! Episode 45
  8. You read it right, we're back! Back from the depths of the internet, we've brought you a jam-packed episode full of Wyrd goodness. We talk M2E, Jetpack Unicorn, Kings of Artifice, and Showdown:Icons. Get ready for a triumphant return, because we'll be back next month with even more gaming to fill the airwaves. Episode here
  9. Hey fellow Malifauxers! Some friends of mine recently started up a new website called GuessingZero.com that talks about tabletop gaming, war games, and some video games that includes a bi-weekly podcast. There's a few of us here on the Malifaux forums that write for the site and we recently recorded the second episode of the podcast talking about our GenCon 2013 experience. If you guys would take a listen and give us some feedback, we'd appreciate it. As a new podcast, everything helps! There's two episodes so far, check them both out! Links: http://guessingzero.com/gz-a-crit-of-gamers-episode-2/ http://guessingzero.com/gz-a-crit-of-gamers-episode-1/ Also, there's a ton of content being worked on, so check back regularly for new posts!
  10. While other podcasts are concentrating on the new shiny that is m2e, we want to do something a little bit different. We’d like to just take time to appreciate what first edition has given us over the last few years and we’d like as many of you to get involved as possible. What we’d like is to hear what your favourite thing about m1e has been, it can be a character/ability/moment, anything you want really. If you want to record your own short bit (that’d be awesome!), all we need is who you are and what your favourite thing/moment/whatever has been. The file format doesn’t matter (I can pretty much work with anything) and I can edit them too. Audacity is a good (and more importantly free) bit of recording software if you don’t already have something. Just email us your bit to soulstonetrain@gmail.com and we’ll use as many as we can. If you don’t want to record your own but still want to contribute just post the info here of email us at the address above and we’ll read them out. We’ll be recording the bulk of that episode on Friday June 14th (add at least a few days on top for editing) so we’ll be looking to get the episode out towards the end of next week.
  11. I'm sure by now we have all worked out which Malifaux podcast is the best to listen to but, which podcast crew is actually best at playing the game? (Clearly it's going to be the Bayou Broadcast but let's pretend it's not otherwise this idea is pointless!). Following the launch of the Malifaux Vassal module, we may be able to definitively answer this question. What I would like to propose is a Vassal based league between as may regular podcast hosts as are interested to see who comes out top. Please note that I did say REGULAR hosts, therefore bringing in a ringer (e.g. the Malifools using Joel) would not be allowed. Apologies if I miss any but I think the list of eligible podcasts would be; Soulstone Train Malifools Bayou Broadcast Tartan Skirmish Radio Cheated Fates Radio Aethervox Lost Boys Radio Malibros (the new one from the Black Sun guys) Gamers Lounge Through the Breach SeanHammer There's a couple more that I know of (e.g. D6 Generation) that cover Malifaux along with other games and some other formats (e.g. Joeyfaux on YouTube) that would be more than welcome to join in. If I missed anyone, please let me know (more than anything so I can subscribe to them!). Please let me know what you think and, if you're a host, if this is something you'd be interested in.
  12. This is a shorter than normal episode in which we have a discussion with Justin about the Wyrd Chronicles, Puppet Wars Unstitched, Showdown and the campaign rules amongst other things. For those of you that haven't listened before or only listened to the first few episodes (the format has changed a lot since then!), give us a whirl, you might be pleasantly surprised It's available now on iTunes or on www.soulstonetrain.podbean.com.
  13. Hey there everyone! Here in Mexico, there´s not that many people who play Wargames, and there´s even less of those that like Malifaux. I´m working on promoting the game locally, and we have gathered a little club in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. A local Media studio called Lateral Images has a small Internet show that´s all about reporting on Mexico´s board game scene. I was invited to participate in 3 episodes and decided Malifaux needed some love. The first one was an introduction (in general) to wargames, and this one is all about the game. The next one will be about rules. They tell me subtitles are coming soon. But here you go on the meantime
  14. Ok ladies, gentlement, gremlins and Neverborn.. Episode 7 of Through the Breach is available in all the usual places. As the other three wanted a break to spend some time with the families. I had ample opportunity to completely go off the rails this episode. However... I think It all plays together nicely. I would like to thank Lord Zombie for joining me for some campaign talk. Thank you to my co-hosts for not fighting the release schedule :Powerful_Puppet: If the Bryan Steele stuff at about an hour in doesn't interest you, I recommend you at least jump forward to 1:20 and listen from there. He gives great insight from a game developers stand point and as one of the hands involved in the CMoN kickstarter projects on the state of game design, kickstarter, and Gencon. And as always feed back is appreciated. Happy Holidays to all!
  15. Episode 2 of Soulstone Train is now available at http://soulstonetrain.podbean.com/ and on iTunes. In this episode we add Shane (underdog6750) to the lineup of hosts (along with myself and the 2am superstar Baby Jake). We have a discussion about ressers, answer people's questions off twitter and break Baby Jake. We'll be recording episode 3 in the next couple of days. If you have any questions you would like answering or have suggested subjects for future episodes, please DM me or Shane (underdog6750). Alternatively you can email to soulstonetrain@gmail.com or tweet @soulstonetrain.
  16. There's a new podcast pulling into the station and it's called Soulstone Train. Episode 1 can be found at soulstonetrain.podbean.com (it's not on iTunes yet but i will be at some point) and is co-hosted by the legend of the UK GT, Mr Baby Jake. In this episode we introduce ourselves, discuss the recent UK GT and answer some questions received from Twitter folk. This will be a roughly bi-weekly podcast hosted by a variety of players from the York Malifaux scene. We're recording the 2nd episode tonight so if you have any burning questions you'd like answering or feedback on this episode, please email us at soulstonetrain@gmail.com.
  17. Episode 10 - The Guest We're back! And we've got an extra-long episode for your listening pleasure. Please excuse the fidgeting sounds as we adjust to 'equipment issues' involving our first guest host ever! Who has rest assured, already had his fingers cut off in retaliation... We review the already pre-released models in Storm of Shadows as well as Level 7 from Privateer Press. Week in Gaming 00:01:21Through the Breach 00:52:12Game Review 02:29:37
  18. Episode 8 Our first full episode since Gen Con, and we had a lot to catch up on. This episode we have a first look at Storm of Shadows, Wyrd Plastics, and War Room; as well as some exciting upcoming events, including your first chance to win a Santana, and an in-depth review of Zombicide by Guillotine Games and Cool Mini or Not and our biggest contest yet! Extra-Life Team
  19. A little shorter this time, but no need for filler here. We talk about Bangarang! events, Malifaux, a peek at 6th edition, and of course our regularly scheduled review and giveaway! Link is in the sig! Don't forget to subscribe!
  20. This week we've got a tournament report straight from NOVA along with some Pandora tactics. We also announce the winner to our last giveaway and have a great review of Gears of War: the Board Game. Link is in the Sig!

  22. Howdy Wyrd Fans, Eric and Dan were kind enough to sit down with us at GenCon and share the story of how Malifaux was developed, the challenges that were involved, and how it was received at GenCon 2009. Special thanks to both of them, for taking the time to chat. And thanks to the many members of the Wyrd staff that showed us the ropes of this amazing new game. Link the interview: http://www.thed6generation.com/index.php?post_id=517425 Oh, and a special shout out to old friends who we meet again: Redstripe: Great to put a face to a name after all these years! Ambrose: Nice to see you again, and thanks for that full playthrough.
