  1. Hi all So I've been pondering picking up some bayou in the new year to give me a change from ressers and arcanists. However only played vs bayou a couple of times so don't really know what's good and what not (beyond first mate) I'm interested in orphelia, mah, zip and ulix. Brewmaster semi interests me but looking at his crew not sure what they are good for. Zoridia isn't gremlin so she doesn't count. Not sure on if I like sommer or not and wong I've got o interest in So bayou players, teach me your ways
  2. Hello! This thread will serve as a place for me to post battle reports so I don't end up flooding the board with them. As the title suggests, the focus of this thread will be on my Outcast games with Parker Barrows, and a little Freikorp, Viktorias or whatever else I feel like playing on the side. This OP will be updated with links to each Battle Report as I complete them. Any suggestions, thoughts, or comments are welcome! 3. Howdy! I’ve taken a break from Parker, and have been enjoying playing Ulix with his new upgrades. I feel like Ulix, and Pigs in general, have a lot of play in GG18 with the emphasis on durability and mobility. One of the issues I have had with him, though, is his need to get in close to the enemy to do anything. This got me thinking about what I could do to give the Pigs a bit more ranged “oomph”. That’s when I remembered that Somer has “Pig Feed”, and upgrade that gives him Pork Whisperin’ and an action to push Pigs toward an enemy and maybe even get an attack. Add to that his Boomer, and the guns of Bayou Gremlins, and we have some of that ranged support for the Big Pigs. I definitely plan to give it a run for a few games, but I’m curious to know if anyone has given Somer with Pigs a try in GG18, and if so- what have your experiences been?
  4. Hello piglovers. Ulix is currently my only gremlin master and i love him. I mostly play summon + pigapult list but i also love the burt+gracie pair. The main problem i have is that most of the people in my local meta are playing a lot of alphastrike lists. Most of them are outcast with a vik/tara player, a von schill/tara/jack daw player and a tara/lynch one. So i very often (almost everygame in fact) some variations of bury-alpha-strike with bloodwrecth, death marshal, scion of the void, emissary + any beater (vik of blood, bishop, killjoy and so on). If i'm not very careful about my deployment and my first turn i can (and i often did) lose a lot of model/a key model (old major for example)/the pigapult (hello bishop and vik's mark of 'i don't care you die anyway') very early. I would like to know if you have any tips or tactics to answer alpahstrike lists in general and outcasts one especially. I think big brain can be good to deny some triggers (whirlwind or bishop triggers) and help pig wp weakness but maybe you know of other interesting models. I look forward to see your answers.
  5. So, I'll start off by saying I'm not a huge fan of ulix, since in all the 4 games I had with him I got quite bored of how he played out (generally with a bunch of big pigs from which to summon, transitioning in a more support role) but, since I'm getting a lot of satisfaction playing new Tt masters I bought, I figured that it might be because I'm getting again that feeling of "discovering" a master, that I don't quite get anymore from my main crews (Somer, Wong and Zipp), where I generally just discover some niche things, but nothing mind blowing (after almost 60 games with Somer it's not that weird). so, to get on with the topic, I started to analyze the rest of the faction, starting with old man ulix and I had this "core" crew idea of: Ulix (d.c. Hunting bow, husbandry) Old major (corn husk, liquid bravery/quality mash) the sow (that's 23ss) Generally i bring 3 big pigs from which to summon 1 turn, and than generally I keep 1 or 2 close to continue with the piglet/warping summoning, tho I really don't like it. I found this play style really slow, and not that efficient ap wise. With this core, the idea is to summon exclusively from the sow following this order (ideally) turn 1) 3 piglets (6 wounds) followed by proper care (leaving the sow at 6wounds) the piglet than proceed to walk in position for setting up the warpig-schemes-triangle next turn turn2) sow walks into position so that ulix can summon the warping than ulix summons 3 other piglets+ 2 coming out of the sow dying followed by proper care, leaving you with 6 full hp piglets (counting the 3 made turn 1) and 2 with 3hp. From there you focus either on support/summoning warpigs/summoning piglets out of Major It's not a ground breaking strategy, but it sounded good to me cause that allows you to "save a summoning turn" thanks to the sow passive ability, and frees up a lot of space in the crew. there are downsides (snipers for example, that can wound the sow before you can do both summonings), but st the same time you could always do something else if you want to save the sow so that she can deal some damages, like skipping a pig summoning for a warpig, to let the sow charge in the thick of battle before dying (while hopefully healing something before so you can get the s) would be good to have 2 hog whisperer (or one+ Penelope) to control the pig horde. It's just an idea I wanted to throw out there, so any feed back is welcome and appreciated
  6. I currently play Ulix and am just starting to get a sense of how to play with a plan rather than just flailing around randomly with pigs. So I'm not dead set on interrupting my learning, but I've been contemplating what master I might try next. Because I still feel like a complete noob, I think I'm still finding my feet with my particular playstyle soooo I think the basis for my choice is initially going to be based on synergies with models I already own. And since I pay Ulix....no surprise....I have a case full of plastic bacon. I think I own: every flavor of pig slop haulers hog whisperer Lucky Emissary Sammy LaCroix taxidermists My impression is that Wong has some decent synergy with pigs and Zoraida may as well. Brewmaster sort of interests me, but I think that's a poor choice. As for Ophelia and Som'er I'm just not all that interested at the moment. But...I'm taking all advice I can get. So, if my goal is to maximize use of models I already have, am I sane to be considering Wong and Zoraida as my next expansion?
  7. Ok I have some questions that I'm failing to find answers to if they've been asked before. Last night was my first Malifaux game in quite some time and it was for the Shifting Loyalties campaign. I started with Old Major, two piglets, a war pig, and a wild boar. This is the first game I've ever put pigs on the table without a gremlin and mistakes were made and questions came up. My first turn was messed up because I believed that the pigs had to charge the enemy front line and couldn't move normally. I basically fed my opponent my crew. So I just want to double check. The charge only happens if the pig has a target in charge range? The stampede trigger came up and I realized that I've never used this before either. I've only ever used pigs as catapult fodder really. Does a pig take disengaging strikes from stampeding?
  8. With the coming wave a foresee quite a few pigs that will need to be painted. I've never been extremely satisfied with how my pigs look and am looking for some advice about how best to paint them and what colors look the best. Thanks in advance.
  9. I'm looking to start a Som'er "Teeth" Jones Crew, yet the sheer amount of models he'll be fielding has me a little bit flustered. I've been perusing the tactics pages and doing as much research about him as I can. I've come to the conclusion that I would like to have a fairly pig heavy army, along with that I love the gremlin taxidermists model but I'm not sure if stuffed piglets are a tactically sound choice. I should probably mention what I'm trying to achieve with this thread, I'm asking you what models I shall need to be buying to have a (relatively) competitive pig heavy Som'er Crew, keeping in mind I loathe all the Lacroix models, and the pig-a-pult is another model I despise. I do apologise for being picky but the models are what really draws me into an army (I'll be waiting for Som'er's Alt. because I assume it has to look better than his original) Anyway, whatever advice you can provide would be fantastic! ~Yeti
