  1. So, I found out Tara's "faces in the void" is kind of a broken action. That's the 2 action that unburies an enemy model in base which chain activates. Well, there's no provision for the enemy to be considered friendly. So, it starts off engaged with Tara, making it unable to charge or shoot. All it can really do is walk and then take another another one action. Is my take on that correct?
  2. From the album: Outcasts

First model I painted using a wet pallete and I feel it came out quite nicely. Paint scheme is very simple to represent the drab hollow nature of Leveticus' totems - I see it that essentially they have nothing to them anymore, devoid of life and anything that gives them character.
  3. From the album: My Crews

    My very first Malifaux crew!
  4. I was a little surprised that there wasn’t already a Leveticus tactica on the forums here. I figured I would take a shot at one. I'd also like to link to an essay I wrote a few months back, Why I Love M2E Leveticus. Much props out to all the badass Leveticus players I’ve learned from. Especially drool_bucket and Lucidicide, who are premier players who really know their stuff. Leveticus is a steampunk necromancer, a scavenger who recovers stray parts both dead and mechanical and salvages them into horrible new creations. He’s quite a departure from most Masters, in that his mechanics revolve around the fact that he’ll probably die several times and keep coming back. He also has the dubious pleasure of having the absolute largest possible hiring pool of any master in the game. Playing against Leveticus the first time can be a shock: he’s easy to kill but keeps coming back. His attacks almost always hit, do decent to huge damage, and bypass most defenses. He jumps around the board. He summons by killing you, and his Core Crew models all have unusual mechanics of dying, being reborn, being created, and combining together. Once you get used to him, he’s still very dangerous and potent. His resilience and his mobility all rely on odd crew mechanics: to come back from the dead, he needs a Hollow Waif, plus another model to anchor the Hollow Waif.

  6. Hi guys! I'm going to be filming a 4 game beginner series for Malifaux featuring Outcasts and Neverborn. The Outcast master will be Von Schill and Jacob Lynch and Co. will be heading up the Neverborn. This series will start with a Henchmen game at 20SS and then escalate to a Master led game at 30, 40 and 50SS. I figured why not ask for input on the four lists. I'll be putting the Neverborn version of this in their forum. I will be sent and be painting up Outcasts from the following model pool. This will be all I have for models so no subs! - Von Schill Starter - Hannah - Hans - Strongarm box (I guess I'll have an extra?) - Vanessa The Neverborn pool will have access to... - Jacob Lynch Starter - Mr Tannen - Mr Graves - The Depleted - Waldgeist We will be focusing on basic Strategies. First two games will be Turf War, then Squatters Rights, then Stake a Claim. Schemes as normal. Thanks in advance! Ash

  9. My entry for Round 2. More, bigger pictures can be found here.
  10. Hi, all! Thought I'd post up my scratchbuilt Ashes & Dust, Ashen Core and Dust Storm. As you can see, they're almost finished priming, and will hopefully get painted soon... I have a lot of WIPs, so will post those later. Quick rundown of how they were made... Ashen Core: This is the one which is less sculpting and more kit-bashed. First I made two square-profile rings of Kneadatite (Green Stuff). Then I filled the bottom of each with Magic Sculpt to give rigidity. Added plasticard rods side by side between them to create a sylinder. Added studs made from 0.5mm square profile plasticard, sharpened with a scalpel. Sculpted a small smooth sylinder with a platter on top to for the base for the arm/skull. The arm is sculpted from Magic Sculpt, and so is the skeletal hand. The big skull is an Ogre Skull from Battleforge. The horns are from the Warhammer Chaos Knight musician bit. There is a piece of jewelry chain there, and the row of skulls are white metal skulls from a eBay seller archeotech-uk. Great stuff, by the way! It all rests on a mound of green stuff with skulpted cobblestones and textured paint (Vallejo Black Lava). Ashes & Dust: Sculpted over a wire frame. First Kneadatite for stickiness, them bulked out with Magic Sculpt for rigidity, finally green stuff for getting the texture. On the base there's a small splash of dust and dirt made from green stuff, casts of sculpted cobblestones, and Vallejo Black Lava. Should look nice once painted; there will be a trace trailing the miniature on the base... The details on the torso are identical to Ashen Core, and the same is the head with the addition of extra horns from a Warhammer Beastmen banner. Actually they are cast from a mold originating on the banner, needed some adjustments for me to be perfectly happy! The tip of the claws are carved from plasticard, easily the most tedious part of the whole sculpt. Greaves are otherwise sculpted from Green stuff. Dust Storm: Sculpted before Ashes & Dust, and using a slightly more primitive technique. On A&D I used a scalpel to "pull/cut" the pattern on the surface. On Dust Storm I used a long sausage og Green Stuff, twisted it and wound it around the bulked out frame. The result looked a lot liek the Michelin Man, but with a Disney-evil-monster face, so I added a liberal coating of Vallejo Black Lava. I think it seems like it will turn out somewhat decent, but might end up redoing it later. No bits used here, all sculpted by me (probably not for the better...)... All three use my outcast basing, supposed to evoke the Quarantine zones. Grennstuff stamped with a fishbone cobblestone pattern from HappySeppukku, added loose cobblestones originally sculpted from Greenstuff by me and recast in both Squadron Green Putty and Milliput. These fracture differently when destroyed, so they make a nice mix IMHO. Debated sculpting an extra pair of greaves to add to the base of the Core, but my wife not liking the idea and me being tired of carving plasticard got me off the idea. Let me know if you disagree! All in all pretty happy with these, particularly A&D. As most of all minis are self-made they should be GG-legal, but wil probably get the official minis when they're done anyway... A&D is pretty huge, especially for a Ht2 model, but I like it. I imagine the whole thing waxing and waning, stretching up and shrinking down on the battlefield. One could hardly expect it to stay small just for the sculptor... ;-) Let me know what you think, will post WIPs if there's any interest...
  11. Hello All, I have a few questions regarding this game. I hope you can help me. If you don't want to read my long post, there is short summary at end. Thanks in advance. @off-top: I am not native English speaker, so some mistakes may occur. Long story short: I never played any other wargames. But I have experience in board / card games. I discovered Malifaux by coincidence. I wanted to start playing Warhammer: Conquest but my friend showed me his gremlin crew. Now I want to start playing Malifaux! It's better to have some nice figures, than hundreds of cards in drawer (old times when I was playing MtG).I already played game at my local club. I asked a few questions there. Firstly I need to choose faction. I have some requirements: - I don't like "monsters" and "scary" stuff; - Want to have all figures in "more or less" one theme; - I would be nice to have master with different play style: My conclusion about each faction: - Ressers: too filthy and totally not my taste, but I must admit summoning skills look great; - Neverborn: also nope, appearance + gameplay are not for me; - Arcanists: Differs to much with each master, for example: Rasputina and her "Icy stuff", Colette with show girls and Ramos with constructs; - Gremlins: Unfortunately my friend has this faction, and I don't want to copy him; - Guild: A lot of shooting and crazy cowboys / Mexicans; - 10T: Everything at one place, could be fun (and costly) playing them; - Outcasts: A lot of healing, and answer for mostly all problems; Guild, Outcasts 10T are all great for me, with some exceptions. But I fall in love with Hannah and Von Schill. So my question is: Can I be competitive player using only „human” part of Outcasts? That means Von Schill, Viks, Hammelin (painted as nice white lab rats etc.), all freikorps, Sue, Hans, Johan etc. But without Void Wretches, Desolation Engine, A&D, etc. ? If answer to first questions is not, what faction would you recommend for me: 10T or Guild? Short Summary: Can I be competitive Outcasts player when only playing human part of this faction (Von Schill, Viks, Hammelin)? That means without Levictus, Jack Daw, A&D, KillJoy Void Wretches etc.

    Scion?

So, who can sell me on the Scion? I hadn't started playing Tara yet during the beta, so I'm just now learning her and thinking of adding him into the crew. As a sometimes-Arcanist player, this guy looks to me like a sort of Firestarter: a cheap henchman (cheap relative to other henches, I mean) with a lot of mobility: between blink and his bury/unbury trick he can move around the board pretty effectively. Other useful synergies I'm immediately seeing: using a Death Marshal while the Scion is buried to first hit a model with Empty Lessons triggering Forgotten to Time, and then burying it with the Pine Box, giving it four damage. If you've got the Nothing Beast with his 0-upgrade in range, you could do the same thing with everybody who has the Glimpse the Void trigger, but otherwise since you've already got the Scion buried no Glimpsing the Void for you. Hungry Emptiness, while it's buried, adds a decent ranged attack to all your non-peon models, if you've already managed to put damage on the enemy. I particularly like the idea of, say, using Lazarus to blast 3 damage onto a bunch of models, and then letting your Void Wretches steal the attack to pile on more. As long as you make sure a Wretch heals the Scion periodically, you're ok to keep doing this. I guess occasionally borrowing Blink could be pretty sweet: it gives a sort of leap to all your models, as a 0 action, meaning something like Deliver the Message gets a whole lot easier. A Fast model could leap, walk, and still have 2 ap to deliver, attack, or whatever. Now that I think about it, this actually seems like one of the most useful things the Scion can do. But then you've got to remember to heal it after you've done all that damage by borrowing its attacks, and then use somebody else to unbury it, probably by borrowing its 0 action. It seems to me like having him on the board would threaten to take over my brain, particularly given that Tara already eats up a lot of brain power making sure everything activates in the right order, figuring out which things can and can't still be buried, maneuvering to deploy the fast bubble correctly, and all that. Have people run the Scion to their satisfaction? What other tricks am I missing? What happened that made you glad you took him? Is he really your Henchman for Tara now, or would you still pick Hannah most of the time?

  14. A young adventurous child set out on his epic quest to gain great wealth. His search led him to a desert where he was able to find as many gold nuggets as he could carry. His joy at finding a place where he could buy some water to quench his terrible thirst quickly turned to dismay when he realized that his wealth was in fact only Fool's gold.
  15. As Viruk said on a comment in my last picture, here is another angle of this "little" fool! I hope you all like it.
