  1. I have just seen a video dating to 1940's Russia, which details the reanimation of a dog's body (in whole and in literal parts). For those who wish to see this video, be warned as it is rather disturbing, and details what can be considered cruelty to animals. I do not endorse such things, take note; I just want to gauge people's thoughts on the matter. The video link extension for YouTube is here: /watch?v=HkBiflN1dF4 Allegedly this was a real, and successful experiment. Others were able to replicate results and modify the experiments to end up with two-headed dogs, an ape with the body of another ape, and that's about where the experiments ended, because there were not enough willing humans for the experiments. The ape story is here, if anyone wishes to read it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/1263758.stm Now, credibility aside, my main query is this: I am wondering if the creator(s) of Dr. Douglas McMourning as a character looked into this video at all when conceptualizing him. Does McMourning go beyond the fantasy of Dr. Frankenstein? I would like to know, and I'd hope that this thread makes others wonder as well. ~Lil Kalki P.S. - If this is the wrong board for this, my apologies, and could someone please move this thread to a more appropriate board if so? Thank you kindly in advance.
  2. Hey guys, I have played some games before but took time off for school and now that I'm returning I see McMourning can now manifest and get a bigger flesh construct! I was wondering if you can slice up your dogs or another character on your side to get Simulacrum 29 out or does it have to be an enemy unit? Responses would be much appreciated!
  3. Rafkins ability Preserve bodies allows him to gain a body part counter whenever a corpse counter is discarded or sacrificed. Does Mcmourning exchange of corpse counters for body part counters count as discarding the corpse counter? Or is the keyword here "exchange"
  4. I'm playing Dr. Douglas McMourning more and more lately. The more I play him, the better I get. It's a great vicious circle. Anyways, critique my P.H.D. (Dr. Douglas McMourning...P.H.D...lol) 35pt General List: Master: Dr. Douglas McMourning (6 Cache) - 2 Body Part Counters, 4 Soulstones Totem: Zombie Chihuahua (1 Cost) Minions: Canine Remains (2 Cost) Canine Remains (2 Cost) The Hanged (8 Cost) Dead Rider (10 Cost) The Drowned (4 Cost) The Drowned (4 Cost) Rotten Belle (4 Cost) 35pt List vs Summoner: Master: Dr. Douglas McMourning (6 Cache) - 2 Body Part Counters, 4 Soulstones Totem: Zombie Chihuahua (1 Cost) Minions: Canine Remains (2 Cost) Canine Remains (2 Cost) Bete Noire (9 Cost) The Drowned (4 Cost) The Drowned (4 Cost) The Hanged (8 Cost) Rotten Belle (4 Cost) (1 Soulstone left over added to Body Part Counters, totaling 3) 25pt List: Master: Dr. Douglas McMourning (6 Cache) - 2 Body Part Counters, 4 Soulstones Totem: Zombie Chihuahua (1 Cost) Minions: Canine Remains (2 Cost) Canine Remains (2 Cost) Dead Rider (10 Cost) The Hanged (8 Cost) (2 Soulstones left over added to Body Part Counters, totaling 4) Available Summons for any game: Canine Remains Flesh Construct Rogue Necromancy I usually Surgical Implements Strike a Canine Reamins/Zombie Chihuahua until I get some Corpse/Body Part counters built up, then summon a Flesh Construct, or if I'm doing alright in position a Rogue Necromancy. I use The Hanged to target the big guys my opponent has and either take away half their health and healing or rope them in with a little bit of damage and pull them 4" toward that model (usually sitting in a pile of my models). I use Dead Rider to pull models around the bored as well as allowing McMourning to Strike him to gain Body Part Counters (with his Regneration 1 and Adjust Purpose, 2 Wds for a (0) Action, it's really not a worry if he takes a hit here and there). He's great for throwing my opponent off as well as dragging my models into a fray and watching my opponent freak out for a minute as they readjust their entire game-plan. I haven't ran the Drowned in a game yet, but I foresee myself using them as distrations and mini bombs. I'll use them to toss bile at my opponents while advancing towards their clusters of weaker models, and when they attempt to swarm me, Bursting Spray will take care of the rest. Although I haven't run Bete Noir in a real game yet either; against a summoner she is a no brainer...killer a weak model (or wait until they do) pop her up and deal as much as I can to anything and everything around her, if she dies, oh well, she'll be back again and again. Rotten Belle's haven't ran along side the Doctor either yet officially, but their Lure will make a great way of getting models around the bored. They can pull my models to them as escape or advance; as well as bring enemy models into ranged for Body Part harvesting. Zombie Chihuahua is giving me some problems. I use him as a back up Body Part generator by using him to Magical Extension Dr. McMourning's Wracked with Pain spell, to mainly get Counters...but he takes away so much utility with the taking away of (0) cost actions until the Closing Phase, plus he doesn't actually cast it most of the time either, if I really want it to work I have to cheat or get really lucky! Finally, Flesh Constructs, well to be honest, they haven't seen much board time lately, I bring out the Rogue Necromancy as fast as I can now and then pop up a Construct or two later on in the game. I use them as meat shields and just let them soak up as much attention as they can get. When they're dead, I use my other Canine Remains to scoop up their Counters they leave behind and that's about it. So there it is. Sorry it's kind of a ramble post, just wanted to toss it all out there. Critique away. I welcome the good, the bad, and the ugly! My feelings won't be hurt. Thanks in advance. Happy Ress-ing!
  5. As I am needing to tweak a really hurty list I figured I'd post my thoughts here for critique and suggestions. Not worried about objective grabbing as I have lists I'm comfortable running in those circumstances this is strictly slug fests against other killy crews like the Viks. Douglas, 8 SS Chihuahua Canine Remains Dead Rider Shikome x 2 Rotten Belle Totem and Canine for quick body parts to get a Rogue Necromancy to hunting partner with the Shikome. Dead rider to Drag Douggie forwards for a turn 2 scalpel to the face if they leave themselves open to it or to string them out if they do not. Its a fairly fragile crew but given the amount of heavy hitters they should have problems deciding just what is the bigger threat and should 2 Shikome and a fast melee master Rogue Necromancy get close enough to something with its CB7, paired, good damage line, and 5 AP for attacks not much should be able to survive regardless of how many SS they can burn. Thats the plan! Will it however work?
  6. Here's some pics of my McMourning stuff, really can't wait for rogue necromancy to come out as a model, also a guild autopsy just cause. And before you ask, I pulled my Miss Pack IN my McMourning boxset by sheer luck. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Animal_Delos/Malifaux/?action=view&current=Ressurectionists.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Animal_Delos/Malifaux/?action=view&current=CanineCorpses.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Animal_Delos/Malifaux/?action=view&current=McMourningandNurses.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Animal_Delos/Malifaux/?action=view&current=Sebastian.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Animal_Delos/Malifaux/?action=view&current=MissPackandConstruct.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Animal_Delos/Malifaux/?action=view&current=ZombieChihuahua.jpg Again comments and such welcome. And yes I realize unlike my freikorps these aren't all based. Also none of my mercenaries from my Viktoria set are based yet either but I'll upload those in a dif thread.
  7. So, anyone had any experience with those (yet unreleased) models? They seem like they'll mesh really well with Resurrectionists, and especially with McMourning. They cost 2 SS, and when they die, they give you a corpse token. Thus far, you lose nothing compared to the K9s, which is already important. If you hurt them some, they get +flip, and you can get some body counters from them with the good doctor this way. You can use a Belle to pull them ahead early game, or pull an enemy to them so they won't need to spend any AP on moving before they begin on shooting. Now, we get to the fun part, "For My Family" has you sacrifice them at the Start Closing, and if I got the rules down correct, this does not run afoul of also dosing them up with the Nurse. In an optimal setup, you could have a Desperate Mercenary unleash 4 shots, at CB 7, with +2 flips for damage. Alternately, you could get 8 shots at CB 5 with +2 flips for damage. If you damaged them before they activated, then you're also at +flip for attack. You can damage those high DEF models who often have less hard to wound and wds, or if you come across a low DF model, you will either kill it, or whittle down the enemy's hand/SS pool (if caster), this is of course, if you did this before they had a chance to already spend their hands. And then, if you kill them yourself after they unleash hell, you get your corpse tokens, you get your healing flips, which can also help with McMourning hurting his own crew, and you get them corpse tokens to summon more stuff, especially as now the forces should be closer to one another so things will be able to get where they need via melee. And if you have McMourning kill them, you're even going to end up with additional body parts. They seem pretty fragile, so it might take some tricks with who to activate first, them or the nurse. If you go nurse first, you can give them Painkillers, and Reactivate, and they'll get to live till their turn comes. (BTW, how do you handle Reactivate prior to activation? The model activates twice, or you activate, enemy activates, you get a chance to activate again?). If the Desperate Merc activates first, "For My Family" turns them into WP 7, DF 8 models, which has a good chance to survive more than its fair share of hassle. And of course, I keep hearing about Convict Gunslinger for range, but this is 3 Desperate Mercenaries for the cost of one Convict Gunslinger, which also means plenty more corpse and body counters. This is my preliminary thoughts, after reading some McMourning threads and eyeing the Desperate Merc and its cost, in a list where dying before third turn is no big deal, you'll just get recycled. Thoughts?
