  1. I don't really see the danse macabre part in the singles, but congrats to the winners.
  2. Kinda late upload as I just got back from expat working, but here is my contribution to October - the would have been dance macabre crew, totaling a full 25 SS for October, achieving my pledge. The figures have been modified, as I have removed the swords from each punk zombie carefully, and even made a makeshift battle vest for one of them - which is my current best miniature and is my pride and joy. ❤️ I am also especially proud of the necrosis painted on Sloth's severed arm. The Twisted Firestarter: The Screamer, hommage to my good buddy, the drummer of E.N.D.: And my prize and joy, the Punk: Sloth:
  3. I feel you, I still have to get my hands on some greenstuff, but milliput is definitely NOT the tool to be used for detailed work, as it simply dissolves in water and makes a mess in anything else.😅 Wishing you the best, eager to see what you came up with for the diorama! @Diddick I wish you the best as well, I think your Misaki was also looking amazing But contest are just that, pushing us to learn and become better at what we do.
  4. Demi chipping in! I'm going to be an expat for most of October at work, which means I won't be able to take any minis/paint with me. I'll be finishing the remaining kunoichi for this month (needs a little touch-up, as one of the cats gnawed on it), as well as am working on a big secret project in case the new, Rotten Harvest themed competition starts in October. For the latter, I can already coin a total of 18ss, but can't reveal the figures just yet... Would that count? In case not, I'll throw in enough figures until I'll reach 11 ss for the month. The tool that changed my painting game was definitely my wet palette. I am using much less paint for much longer now and my mixes keep longer.

    Demi's mini den

I have started mini painting in January 2022 and have been happily trashcrafting and painting ever since. Follow my journey as I'm aspiring to become a decent painter!
  6. Finally! It is done! I have officially worked off my mulligan and am finishing September with a total of 24 SS! I will still work on projects but don't intend to finish anything by the end of the week, given all the hassle with IRL work going on. The kunoichis follow the box art more or less; they have given me an opportunity to try to paint silk and nylon-like textures. Which I now officially put on my top 3 hated things to paint (next to space marines and horses). EDIT: I have some issues with the picture upload, apologies. EDIT 2: Managed to delete some old material, you're up, girls!
  7. Either upload the files here in the post, or upload them to some sort of cloud (like in the Forum gallery in your own folder (make one shouldn't you have one already), imgur, etc.) and just embed the links here.
  8. Probably, I only found a bottle of Model Color "magenta fluorescent" and it has the same consistency as my canvas acrylics, like glue (despite shaking it like crazy). The frankenmagenta stuck somehow, I'll shoot a pic later when the varnish dried. Painting miniatures made me realize how important magenta can be, it makes everything more vibrant in the mix. For anyone who saddled over from canvases to miniatures: Liquitex paints are amazingly vibrant if you can somehow find the best solution-ratio (suffers from gloopyness otherwise).
  9. This looks amazing! What brand of magenta are you using to paint? I am on my third brand now and they are horribly blotchy and gnarly, but (given it is a "fake" color) it's extremely hard to mix it out of others. I have tried Vallejo, Liquitex acrylics (still working the best, but huge pigment for minis) and Louvre acrylics (same issue as Liquitex and it worked even worse). Pictured: my fight against the paint to achieve a bright magenta silky smoothness on a kunoichi.
  10. I can finally contribute something! Working half off of my mulligan in August I officially tank in 12 SS for September, and will push to finish 2 Kunoichis to make up for the missed month. The bunrakus are officially finished, I'll eventually put them on nicer bases when I finally figure out how to work with Miliput. I have tried to incorporate some traditional elements, like the seigaiha pattern, as well as some traditional kabuki colors. Speaking of which, I finally put Chiyo on a playbase with some traditional japanese toys scattered around as fluff (no claim, as she was already presented as my Flowers & Showers entry a few months ago). Creating such tiny "wooden" toys out of Miliput was definitely the wrong idea to use this material for, but hell, here we are!
  11. Trying to mosey as many stones as possible to be completely honest. I'll exclude them until they can be revealed then.
  12. @Hawkoon I vote for either 6 or 8, both of them are intrigueing models with tiny details you can get lost in. A public service question: how do modifications count (if they do at all)? I am preparing early for the next competition with a concept I actually have been cradling a while, and it requires some heavy modification of the figures. Do these count, or should it be eventually counted towards the month when they are actually painted? I am almost done with my bunrakus, expect a picture soon when I'm released from the sweet caress of IRL work.
  13. I am from Hungary and no shops carry E3 Malifaux anymore, we usually do our shopping in Wien, Austria when we visit. I got the Easter Angelica for an invoice from Siren Games (home delivery), so it shouldn't be a problem. Although, I don't know if the policy changed.
  14. Demi reporting in after a hearthy mulligan in August... I'm trying to finish up my August minis, so Bunraku 3 and Kunoichi 1. Due to autumn kicking in and thus, most of my work-life projects spring into overdrive (and weekendly overtime...) I most probably won't be able to finish much in autumn, so I might have to drop out of the challenge. #reallifesucks Discussion part: Starting from the back: 2. I am feeling a little burning out myself, despite the peaks of inspiration the forum brings me - the painting feels more like a chore now rather than something that makes me happy. It's hard to sit to it, however, after I started painting, it usually works itself and I'll get a boost to work on a model for a couple hours. Also, since I mostly use mixed paints from a limited palette I own, getting that shade I needed on the first try is always a huge emotional lift. 1. I am working on a schedule for my Pile of Shame, so what I am painting next is never a question (given half of said pile is owned by partner yours truly, who either has explicite ideas or just wants the box art to the T). When I am given a free hand, I am trying to sneak some sort of authenticity into my pieces: for the Wastrels, I went through a ton of Wild West pictures; for the Qi and Gong crew, I spent some time researching Japanese kimonos, kabuki theatre culture, textile patterns and their meanings, etc. I am trying to put effort into the self-built bases as well (like creating little Japanese toys scattered around Chiyo's base, which I think I did not publish just yet...). I demand near perfection from myself and I want each piece to be a standalone little "story" on the board. Once the mind-work is done, it just needs to be done! I usually build the figure and then paint it, however, I have recently started to partially assemble a figure and glue it on the go once the pieces obstructed by other pieces are already done. This way, all shadows are correctly cast. Reading all this back, now I see why I am so damn slow with a pledge of 2 figures...
  15. Due to a whole ordeal of madness happening in August and an unsuspected covid session which took a pleasant 1.5 weeks out of my life, I have managed to finish a whooping 0 soulstones for August and hence, pulled a mulligan. I did manage to squeeze some painting in and might finish one figure today, but I don't want to cheat and count it towards August. Given that it currently is in itself challenging to sit for longer periods, I might have to drop out of the challenge, but we'll see in September. Great content however, peeps, you keep the eagerness to paint alive in me! ❤️

    CITY 7

I absolutely adore this setting! The glowing butterflies really give off an Umineko no naku koro ni feeling...
  17. Demi checking in! This month is gonna be packed full, so I might will have to pull a mulligan. I am trying to start and finish my competition piece (4ss) as well as continuing Qi and Gong, this time with a Kunoichi and a second Bunraku (12ss). @Viruk Can't wait to see what you make of them, especially Lady Yume, she is such a gorgeous and interesting model! @Kogan Style Huge congrats on tying the knot mate, wishing you the best! @Caedrus I feel you, I have the rest of my Plague crew in a box as I simply can't make myself to paint teeny-tiny RATS... 😅
  18. First of all: @Viruk Thank you kindly, I am madly in love with your techpriest-lookalike lady figurine there as well. I have finally had some time to finish the minis, although I am still waiting for my Milliput to arrive in the post, so nekkid bases for now. I have spun the wheel and it has chosen Bill and a Bunraku for me, so I finish July with the total of 15 soulstones. Bill was followed to the box art, as requested by my partner: The Bunraku really drove the challenge home because I am a moron and can't give up a detailed, patterned kimono. I couldn't figure out how to paint that traditional box-art mattern for the life of me, so changed it up a little bit. I am particularly proud on how woodlike the puppet came out. This concludes this month's challenge - I have started to work on the super sekrit City Lights challenge piece as well, but I might not be able to finish it before time runs out. Expect to see it in August if I missed it - in September when I don't.
  19. If any fragment of what you say is true, I'd be happy to somehow send it to someone in the US, as there is absolutely no way I can afford a trans-Atlantic flight right now.
  20. I have just opened a Jedza core box and it contained a white card, with "Blank Please Pull" on both sides. It doesn't seem to be a stand-in card for anything, for all the cards are neatly packed and none is missing. Has anyone found one of these? Are they good for anything besides being a bookmark?
  21. Month is halfway done and I am buried under of a ton of work. But at least Bill is coming along nicely (excuse the mess), he just needs some highlighting on his straw hat, his cape done and some pupils and then I can cash him in: I am trying to pay more attention to proper skintones and nice blending. I probably should eventually start NMM, too... All of you did an amazing job, I marvel at the talent present in this community and hope that I can reach this level once!
  22. Thank you kindly! I love how gritty your rat kings look, it really gives back the plague feel of Hamelin!
