  1. Alas at this point of time I will have to part from the yearly painting challenge as I am currently busy with painting a whole lot of 3d printed minis, mostly bloodbowl teams. Still have a large backlog of malifaux but can't bring myself to paint them atm. I'll still drop in and post pictures of my painted minis though. For all of you still in the game/challenge, godspeed and happy painting
  2. More Pigment Pirates in here! Need to battle that crew again now it's fully finished paintwise
  3. Could ask a friend for some mousu black. But to be honest I think I will switch my background to something lighter and circumvent the problem alltogether
  4. So just in time to finish another month of tyrant level My Bete Noire almost completes my Redchapel crew, if it wasn't for the man himself (which will be the first faux model of the new month). As for my current photography setup. I took craftworld studio's advise and invested in a light ring that illuminates my models quite well. Sadly I'm still shooting with quite a dated camera. But oh well, don't have the money to replace it as I'm spending it on miniature 😅
  5. Found out how to delete my attachments and also realized I had a 12mb Pic of my pile of shame floating around. Finished my copycat killer. Tomorrow work on Seamus and Bete is starting so I can circumvent dropping out of the challenge.
  6. Well I won't ruin my yearly process and fall out of the challenge, so I will finish the rest of Redchapel crew in the next couple of days. First of all - Sybelle. 3hours in one sitting. Very content with her and the super minimalistic palette And as I reached my attachment quota (and can't seem to find a delete option) and the Imgur permalink is not working when inserted in the "other media" part I can only give you this link (halp mods please) Imgur Album
  7. Really have to do some efficient painting to reach my SS count this month as I get totally sidetracked by owning a 3d printer and painting a lot of Bloodbowl
  8. Not a company that I am supporting as their business practices include ripping off creatives. Bunch of videos about that on youtube. But lucky enough they are not the only ones producing clump foliage
  9. @Moinetbeard I will once I got my new photo setup finished so I can more easily take pics while painting. But I demand to know where you got those lovely flowers for the base in exchange! Those bases look gorgeous!
  10. @Shock & Aweirst of all, nice Bultungin. The fur coloring is really working out well! The picture taking is done on a little pillar of black primed wood in front of a black cloth. Posing the model on a small pillar blurs the background some more. Afterwards I slightly increase the highlight brightness, add a vignette and increase the shadow values. This leads to a consistent black background (well, sort of. Still room for improvement) @Gheist to be honest, the only thing keeping me from doing tutorials is the lack of a good camera being able to capture what I am doing in video. And with a 3d printer setup still on the horizon the next hobby investment is already planned. But someday, promised!
  11. So, ehm, well this ain't a gremlin alright. But I said I'm gonna paint whatever I like from my Backlog, so 😅. This piece was a big milestone somehow and I never planned it to be and I don't know how it got to that stage. Things just made sense and "worked": Creating texture and glazing it over, creating more contrast in the skin by glazing some purple and reds in, putting focus into the right spots etc... This happens to be the best miniature I've painted to this date. Lady Justice
  12. That's a nice skin color for the gremlins and a really well done base design. I especially like the rooster feathers. I usually tend to paint the base rim black, as it frames the model very well and just looks a little "cleaner" in the end.
  13. Aaaand the last Banjonista is done (a tad too late for the April party) and most of you know who is left in that box, coming up next - the walking mad max reference!
  14. As last month showed me I love digging into my big box of primed and based models and paint whatever I like best at that moment. I think that there will be a lot of Gremlins joining the fray this month though. To the topic of gap filling, as I am asked this very frequently (especially on my Malisaurus). I usually use green stuff. The big game change for me when working with GS was using sculpting pens to smooth out the work. The other way to fill gaps that are larger or can be sanded used to be milliout that I stirred into a paste with some Isopropanol alcohol (thanks Marco Frisoni for that knowledge). Nowadays I use some sprue goo or a little bit of glue applied with a brush that creates kind of a weld on the model that I remove with a hobby knife/sanding tool carefully (that's what I use for most clothes)
  15. And right away the next Banjonista, just a lovely lady Gremlin left to complete the trio and Georgy and Olaf to complete the box
  16. What I love about Gremlins is that every sculpt is full of character and I usually can finish one in a single session. First Big Hat model finished and more to come
  17. And the lovely lady with the big relic hammer ready just in time for the game of viks vs wildfire later on tonight.
  18. I was at that point and got motivated by playing my first game with the redchapel crew vs bandit. Moonstone is also very tempting from miniature design and the game itself. Did you play? Is it enjoyable?
  19. And already done with the other doxy! Now onto Bete Noire!
  20. And the first of two dead doxies joins my crew
  21. And clocking in the Belle that fulfills my tyrant pledge. Did some meandering this month after basically just painting Malifaux models the first two months of the year. Pretty hooked onto my redchapel crew and can't wait to finish them in the style I chose
  22. Coming back to my Malifaux minis after painting marvel super heroes for a while. Quick 1.5 session job on this dead dandy, already started with a rotten Belle to meet my Soulstone count for this month
  23. Forgot to post the work I did for @Gheist in February 🤦‍♂️ As this base is (due to the model) rather minimalistic I will go into detail on this topic once I finish the bases for my redchapel crew
  24. I'll hopefully start and finish my redchapel keyword this month. Already finished building the high society part (bete, 2 doxies and a dandy) and will base + gapfill and prime them til the core box arrives later this week. If they prove to be nice and quick to paint maybe I'll add the dead rider as well
