  1. I run Canines pretty regularly with Asura for carrying those summoned Zombies to the front line. They cost the opponent actions or score schemes and Sebastian can summon a new one (helps sometimes if you need an independent speed bump or Schemer in turn for 3 or 4). It's 3 points. I don't expect more.
  2. Hi everypainter, it might become a productive May for me: i want to finish my Dr. McMourning and paint my Asura. I also just today started a few terrain pieces. Cross your fingers for me, fellow painters.
  3. So, after the Rabble Risers, two weeks ago, I finally finished my Rogue Necromancy. I have to confess that I was a bit lazy with this one, did the wings with meager drybrushing. But I just ran out of motivation. Maybe I will try to improve the wings in the future. With finishing the Necromancy I am done with my Forgotten Keyword.
  4. That was the reason for me asking about "themes" more as more Elemental Keyword stuff. On the other hand this could also be solved by corresponding rules.
  5. Hello fellow gamers, I just recently got myself a Sandeep Crew (still lacking a few miniatures but working on the crew). Now, I am totally triggert by the Elemental theme and can't wait to get more of it (probably not so much inside the Keyword but more as a theme). I also own Brewmaster (of course) and Kaeris. Now, I am quite sure, that there will be a Poison and Wind Golem in the future (or at least hope for it). Are there any other "elemental" themes you think we will see in the future? I could imagine something like "Wood" - maybe shared by Titania and Sandeep. Or "Electricity" (victorian steampunk setting withouot electricity? - no way) - shared by Sandeep and a new Arcanist or Explorer. Maybe Von Schtook? Earth - a classic - would fit the Explorers, I can imagine. Same for Water - another classic and I can see a "pirate" theme or something similar for Explorers. There is a Grave Golem - will we see Grave Gamin? What about a Soulstone Golem and its Gamins - or better an Arcane or Magic Golem? - would fit in the Arcanists Chaos or Madness? - Golem and Gamin within the Neverborn? Are there any other elemental themes you can think about that would fit in the Malifaux setting?
  6. As Sebastian and the Chihuahua both got new artwork there probably will be new sculpts, too. Maybe those will address the problem. The Chihuahua artwork seems to hint at him/her growing in size.
  7. Would you mind to elaborate? Didn't face him, yet. But will add him to my collection, soon ^^
  8. There is only one thing the keyword lacks to some degree: creation of corpse markers, as the summons of more Canine Remains by Sebastian and the even more important summons of Flesh Constructs by the Doc himself depend on Corpses around. But this gap can be filled by the Emissary (at least to a certain degree). Gravedigger, Mortimer, Grave Golem can also give a hand, here. I usually prefer Asura, though, as she is very reliable (although with expediture of a few stones) for those precious 2-3 Corpse tokens on turn 1. Still not 100% sure if spending 2-3 stones and 3 actions (2 on Asura, 1 on McM) are worth the "free" Flesh Construct on turn 1 but up to now it worked quite well for me. No need to be careful with the poison AOEs as literally all Keyword models profit from more poison. Just go all in and spread the green ooze as much as possible. It might be a different story only versus Brewmaster or to a degree versus Oxfodians but that's very special matchups.
  9. So, here I am, now. A few month later, a lot of listening to podcasts, a lot of reading in the forums and about 15 games wiser. Malifaux is even more awesome than I initially thought, as i just start to see all the tiny things and the value in models I didn't recognize on first glance. I still am very glad with picking Rezzers as my first faction and own all the Crew boxes, now (besides Von Schtook - still in delivery - and Yan Lo; very likely will get him, too). My main crews atm are Doc MacM and Molly and I am just starting to get into Reva (didn't play her after the upgrade but already liked her a lot). I am still struggling a bit when not being able to summon as it always is a tough choice for me to pick a model as sacrifice or bait. But I guess I will get used to it when starting some other crews. My typical setup for McM is Sebastian and Asura for more Flesh Constructs and Doggies. With Molly I usually bring the F Marshall to cruise missile Rabble Riser into the opponent's crew as often as possible. Besides that Molly does Molly things And Reva is mainly dealing out damage and I have my Draugr dealing out even more here and there. I even win a game every now and then and already visited my first tournament. What I am still struggling with is match-ups and I am hoping for some advice from you guys: Which Master should I never pick versus a certain faction - and why (which are the main models/combos to be afraid of)? And which Master is the perfect choice versus a certain faction - and why (why are my main ressources and what do I prevent/counter with it)? I am totally lacking the knowledge and experience to have an even close overview and math hammering only gets me this far. So, any feedback and advice will be greatly appreciated.
  10. Really nice for the first time using an airbrush. The contrast on the skin is very strong and still smooth.
  11. Here are my first two entries for April: Two Rabble Risers for 6 Stones each - 12 Stones Next will probably be the Rogue Necromancy. Tips: 1. Only get an airbrush if you are willing to invest a lot of time into learning how to use it. It is a totally different way of getting color on your miniatures. 2. Thin the colors. Seriously, thin them down. Never ever use colors straight out from the pot. 3. a) When using an airbrush: When you are done with one color, use a few drops of thinner after emptying the airbrush from the color to keep it clean for the next color. 3. b) When using a brush: Never mix your colors with brushes you want to use for painting if you don't want to destry it.
  12. @Stranglelove Just klick the pics and you will enlarge the preview. Another click and the pic becomes even bigger
  13. @Caedrus Thanks for the feedback. I really like what you did with the burnt/burning wood on Wanyudo. Maybe just adding some more coal (black) between the glowing cracks would do the trick? Also very nice effective work on the Mourners. Will try to do something similar with those and I am a bit afraid of those almost black only models.
  14. I finally finished my Archie: So, another 9 Stones for March (that was close). For April, I am aiming at painting 2 Rebels Raisers and the Rogue Necromancy to "finish" my Forgotten Crew.
  15. Wow! I really like what you all did here in this challenging and weird month! Hope all of you and your loved ones are well! I finally found some time and motivation to grap my brushes and here is my first entry for March: The Forgotten Marshall. I am aiming for Archie, next - although I really dislike big models. Cross your fingers for me. Already kind of screwed up the first layers on the skin.
  16. Why not check the corresponding tournament organizer if they could allow it. Should be no big deal, I guess, as long as you make it clear to your opponent before each game.
  17. Thanks, both of you for your input. That helps a lot. I am really looking forward to introduce not only my fellow tabletop/miniature gamer buddies to the world of Malifaux but also my RPG buddies. About the time needed for introducing and going for a one shot - how many hours would you recommend (or guess) I should plan for? (Yes, I know, things can escalate within any gaming session/group in good and bad ways. Yes, I know, every group is different. Yes, I know, it depends on the players a lot... your personal and individual estimation will be gladly appreciated.)
  18. And here is miniature number 2 for February: Carrion Effigy for 4 Stones Took me way too long for those meager 4 Stones. But hey, it's the details nobody will ever recognize except me ^^ I now will try to finish another model for February - cross your fingers for me! @Antinea don't worry too much, your choice of colors is perfect and the capes will look great on the gaming table. If you want to improve: as long as you still see the single strokes of your brush and want to avoid it you didn't thin the color enough. For absolutely smooth blending of colors you should use glazing.
  19. As we are always looking for oneshots, mainly to see new systems when one of our regular players is away for a few weeks, I am seeking your advice fellow RPGamers: Which adventure would you recommend for 2-3 gaming sessions? And if there are any quick start rules, a link would be greatly appreciated.
  20. First miniatures finished for February. And I finally decided what I will do with the Rezzer bases. Philip and the Nanny - 8 Stones So, at least 3 Stones more to go for February - should be no problem.
  21. Here is a first miniature for my February pledge: Phil and the Nanny - Next will be the greens and the blacks And I hope to finish those two before Sunday.
  22. Oops, totally forgot to sign up, before I post some pix. I'd like to join and will try to achieve Henchman in 2020. Hoping for everybody's support.
  23. About the yellow, here are a few tipps: 1. Apply a layer of brown, before the yellow. If you want your yellow to be as bright as possible: first grey, then white, then yellow. 2. Thin the paint and apply layer after layer, until you like the result (seriously, that should always be done with all colors)
  24. Hello everybody and thanks to all of you for sharing your inspirational pieces of art. After entering Malifaux about half a year ago I finally started playing (kinda) regularly and this feel some pressure to finally paint more. I have to confess that I am a rather slow and lazy painter but nevertheless decided to enter the 2020 competition to get some stuff done - sharing the hobby stuff with fellow minds always help a lot to keep the spirits up. I am aiming for Henchman level for the competition. 11 Soulstone should be possible, especially with 2 mulligans and buy-backs. Let's get this done! So, here are my contributions for January: This is: 2 Crooligans for 4 SoSt each - 8 2 Night Terrors for 5 SoSt each - 10 18 Stone in January - I call that a good start. And here is my Molly Crew so far: I am still unsure about where to go with the bases but already have a few ideas.
  25. Max hand size will increase to 7. ("one or more models"... "increase hand size by one")
