2020 Monthly Painting Challenge - August
GlowingFruit replied to Caedrus's topic in Miniature Showcase
Thanks mate. The scars on the left one are freehand and the hands on the torso of the right one are decals. The decals are from a chaos space marines box under the night lords part of the sheet. The freehand was applied with a dark red to a brighter one and I use my basecoat of green to make it pop by painting the edges of the markings. -

@GroundPounderX Yeah, it happen sometimes that a model don't appeal to you when it comes to painting it. I have experienced this sentiment doing my 40k possessed, I've done 5 of those and I don't think of growing the squad before long. -

Sharing some progress. I'm quite happy with the free-hand as basic as it is, especially since I'm not use to do any. Plus I added something to the cauldron because I felt like it was empty. -

Hi, for this month I'm pledging Mah for a whole 15 SS by herself. I may add other thing if I got the time to buyback a mulligan. June Challenge - 3 Fave Paints As for my 3 favorite paints, well, it was a hard choice. I have so many greens that I like so I want to display other paints I use and that I really like. -Vallejo Yellow Ochre, I have to thank this community for this find. It is marvelous to work with a color that is hard to work with: Yellow. -Master Series Paint (MSP) Amethyst Purple. It a good color that mix well with purple and violet. It has a good coverage and mix well with other paints. Bellow you have an exemple. -Citadel Screamer Pink. A wonderful redish pink. Pro: Make a good base color, Con: Its in a pot... -
Did a quick job on my little gasers and soulstone miners just to be sure I won't miss this month like the last one. 24 SS of green things.

Hello everyone, starting up as henchmen pledge. Burt Jebsen (8 ss) and Sutdent of Conflict (4 ss) for a total of 12 ss. I'll try to build up at least two crews to introduce malifaux to some friends. Starting up with the Vikis crew and I will continue my bayou crew(s) along the way. -

Leaving engagement by breaking LoS
GlowingFruit replied to Hollow's question in Malifaux Rules Discussion
To make it clear, let's make a dumb situation with two units having the same size and different range, the first has 1" range and the other has 2". The first one is engaged by second at a range of 2". Now since #1 is engaged, he cannot take the walk action nor the charge action (p.26 of the Rules Manual, Engaged effects). If a third model of the same size or taller would place itself between the first two #1 could walk off freely since LoS would be broke off. Else, he could use the disengage action since he is engaged by an enemy model (p.26 of the Rules Manual second paragraphe of engagement). The thing I'm not sure in this situation is about model #2. I'm not quite sure he could use his walk action to leave (It would be logic for me since model #1 doesn't have the reach to get a hit on him). This make me think that the engaged effect (If we look at it as a statut effect) only affect a victime or both model in cases were they have the same range. When looking by the rules we have at the moment, I'd say no. I think it is weird that there are no clarification about moving through terrain while being engaged since Incorporeal models are a thing. The reason behind my no is that the engagement range of units generaly doesn't see over high wall and there range couldn't go on the other side anyway (except if it is a 1" or 2" and the engaging model has a big enough size + melee range so that he could still see you and able to target you). Maybe it is an intentional nerf to incorporeal models or just a miss from there part. Personally, I would like if incorporeal could walk away if they can break LoS by using there ability. But from my understanding, at the moment, disengaging seems to be the only way to pass through wall or other things that break LoS. Once engaged, they feel like a standard unit, just more resilient . PS. Sorry for my first post, I had used my physical copy of the M3E Core Rulebook so the page numbers were different. I used the online Rules Manual for this post so nobody would be confused. -
Leaving engagement by breaking LoS
GlowingFruit replied to Hollow's question in Malifaux Rules Discussion
I may be wrong, but it doesn't seems like that to me. In your exemple, Euripides want to go around the corner to "walk out" of the engagement, but he couldn't. The rules state that you can't use the walk action to leave an engagement, but you can still use the disengage action. Lady Justice longest of 2" can't target an enemy the other side of the wall (go see rules about Line of Sight, Height and maybe Measuring CR p.49/53-54). Lady Justice attack could only go up to 2" + Lady Justice size as " upward on the wall (it can't go over it) AND if none of them have Line of Sight none of them is considered engaged (See Engagement CR p.62) I'll post the most important of engament of p.62 of the Core Rulebook to help people here: Every model has an engagement range based on the range of its longest Action. If an enemy model within a friendly model HAS Line of Sight to the enemy model, the friendly model is considered to be engaging the enemy model, and the enemy model is considered to be engaged by the friendly model. If the friendly model has a longer engagement range than the enemy model, this could lead to situations where the friendly model is engaging the enemy model, but the enemy model is not engaging the friendly model (because the friendly model is within its engagement range). Models that do not have Actions do not have engagement ranges. Plus here are the 5 primary effects of engagement: Cannot take actions Cannot take Interact actions Cannot use Walk action to leave engagement range of the opponent Cannot use Charge action Targeting engaged or engaging models with actions incurs Friendly Fire Here you have it (CR means Core Rulebook just to be clear). I could simplify all of this, but not today, I'm too tired.
