  3. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo welcomed us back from Gen Con with open arms. After a moment, however, it became clear he was simply asking for an armful of food since he had run out while we were all out of the office. So, while we get back to the grocery store for Waldo AND recover from the convention, let’s look back at exactly why we think Gen Con is truly The Best Four Days in Gaming™. Thursday Opening day! As soon as the clock struck 10, the doors opened, and the halls flooded with people. Within minutes, our booth was full of fans wanting to pick up the latest Witness keyword, Iconic models, and Vagrantsong scenarios. Have you ever wondered whether Parker and Basse could team up to defeat Reva and Kaeris? Over in the Event Hall, 12 brave players took part in our first official Double Random Rush event! Each round, players were assigned random masters and random teammates to face off using a thematic Double Rush format. While it may have been a snapshot of chaos, the whole event was a great time, and everyone seemed to embrace the entropy. Friday Gen Con didn’t cool down at all during the second day. We sold out of a bunch of stuff that we expected to last the entire convention. Our booth remained filled with people speculating the models we had in our cabinets and new players wanting to find out more about why Malifaux is so awesome. And on Friday night, we held a special Vagrantsong event for the Fox Sisters. 32 players joined in on the fun as we all unraveled the puzzle of who they are and what they wanted with us poor souls. While two groups went Westbound in this challenging Scenario, everyone walked away with Vagrantsong-themed prizes and memories of some wild antics. Saturday On Saturday morning, 28 Wyrdos sat down for our annual Tyrants Tournament. They battled for three rounds to claim the ultimate prize: The Tyrant’s Belt! This year was an exciting start for the new Season of Gaining Grounds and we are looking forward to seeing the community embrace it the coming months. It was also a great start for our favorite new Witness-watching Arcanist, Damian Ravencroft, who made his first official start at the tournament being played in all three rounds by one very daring player. At the end of it all, Doug Bowman playing the Neverborn came in third place, while Andre Demings piloted the Explorer’s Society to second place. But it was Landon Sheehan and his Ten Thunders who ended up taking home the belt this year. Sunday To celebrate the end of The Best Four Days in Gaming™, we spent a Steam-Powered Sunday trying something completely new: the Honeypot Casino Bonanza Brawl! An extra wacky version of the standard All-Out Brawl, this event saw groups of 5-6 players stapling various treasures to their model of choice and battling for control of a Honeypot Casino-themed board. This event led to the inception of some interesting… creations… like the Uncomfortably Slippery, Still Drippy, Peacekeeper. When the dust settled and drip finally dropped, each player left the Casino with their very own copy of the Loot Deck. If you’re interested in trying out this scenario for yourself, check it out here. Special thanks to the Steam-Power Scoundrels, who pioneered the new game mode, helped to run this event and without whom this Casino Brawl would not have been possible. Lastly, we wanted to give a huge thank you to all our incredible volunteers across the entire weekend who helped us put on the best Gen Con show we’ve had in years, and to everyone who stopped by to say hello! We can’t wait until we get back together next year, so thanks for keeping it Wyrd.

  6. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Joss when we thought we got to the K.O.R.E. of preventing Waldo’s machinations, he tried making a trebuchet out of office supplies. All of us became Watchers as Waldo’s contraption somehow flung itself into the air and left its paper ammunition on the ground. We all think it’ll need some Creative Salvage to get working again. Despite its spectacular failure, the trebuchet got us all in a medieval mood. Every year, we release alternate models for an existing crew box. These Nightmare Editions offer you different and visually stunning ways to play your favorite Masters and crews. Last year we had the Deepest Depths show us what lurks below; now, we journey to the far corners of legend once more. A castle rumored to have a mind of its own, a prince driven mad by forbidden knowledge, and his loyal servants Augmented so their forms can serve new purposes... Let’s take a look at this year’s Nightmare Edition models, and what’s in their first box, The Fallen Kingdom: As you might’ve guessed, the Augmented Keyword has gotten brand-new Nightmare looks: Emaciated Hollow Fiends fly overhead instead of Watchers. Joss and Melissa K.O.R.E. are represented by the colossal Porphyrion and the elegant Weeping Huntress, respectively. Little Stiltzkin has replaced the Mechanical Attendant, though we’re sure he’ll receive just as much love. Leading this force is Charles Hoffman, Inventor’s alternate, Lord Galehault, Fallen Prince. This is the first time we’ve included Titles in the Nightmare Editions, so you can bring either version of the Guild’s beloved engineer onto the field. If you’re looking to expand the Keyword, you’ll want to pick up their second box, Legend Reforged. This contains: The mighty Galvanic Wyrm is an imposing and dangerous replacement for a Peacekeeper. Lord Galehault himself, represents Charles Hoffman’s original version. This fiendishly handsome prince and his drake will be available for purchase online and at Gen Con as well. If you are looking to further expand your collection, The Walking Fortress box will be available later this year for Black Friday. It contains three Juggernauts, who serve as alt Riotbreakers. Lastly, it wouldn’t be a Gen Con celebration without a Miss model! Miss Tique takes to the stage this year as an alt Carlos Vasquez, ready to put the burn on her competition. For every $100 spent during Gen Con 2022, orders will get 1 Miss Tique included for free. Spend $200, get 2; spend $300, get 3, and so on. These unassembled boxes and more will be available on our webstore (and in person at Gen Con) during our Gen Con sale. This sale will last from Wednesday, August 3rd - Sunday, August 7th, so make sure you’ve got your wish lists sorted! That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Next time, we’ll have a full breakdown of everything that will be available for sale, including a very curious group indeed… Bear Witness.
