  1. This is a reference to the narrative nature of character creation in TTB. Root skills signify what you learned because of your upbringing/environment/parents/mentors etc... while Endeavor skills are specifically skills your character chose to learn. So essentially root skills are skills chosen in-line thematically with something while endeavor skills are yours to decide with only your own story choices determining them. The part about not being worried about skills at creation I think is referring to the instinct to make sure your character is perfectly designed to be optimized at creation which leads people to pick things unbefitting to their Root skills in fear of having a weak character. As we built multiple characters now in my group we have learned that you can generally build a competent character with just the skills from your Endeavor and its more enjoyable to let your Root skills be strongly determined by creation rather than a pre built idea before cards flipped. Hope that helps!
  2. Oh, well that is specific but certainly works to atleast confirm it can be a thing without you dieing if the dust runs out. It does raise the question I mentioned above but I'll rephrase it to make it more specific. Are Pneumatics ever subtle? Or is the idea that generally speaking malifaux/ttb technology isnt making life like replicas? I assume, if you get get a eye replacement its not going to look like a subtle glass eye for instance. Swiped through the M3E app trying to find any examples of subtle pneumatics and didnt see any at quick glance.
  3. Curious if I missed something or if there is no rules for replacing just an eye? Talked amongst my group and settled that it may intentional without a full on head pneumatic. Is there a lore reason or science limitations to linking a replacement eye directly to the brain without a full pneumatic head? Could make sense, but it does mean that losing an eye is one of the worst injuries a fated can receive given a head pneumatic makes them "never quite the same" and if their dust runs out they die. Also, I assume pneumatic eyes are assumed to be those obvious big lenses and not something thaylt can resemble a real eye in a subtle way? Is that right?
  4. Oh, wow. Yea... I was looking under armor and such for each book. This is a far easier solution, thanks.
  5. Not sure what they are called in the lore, but how would someone go about getting something like the steam construct suit that appears on the core book cover or something like Hannah Lovelace's suit? I skimmed through all the books and there isn't really any vehicle rules or exosuit rules. Is this something that would be handled by just creating a construct subordinate and just flavoring it so rideable? Would it be possible to have it not be magical and controlled by more conventional means fuel/manual controls?

    Outcasts Book

It certainly does, I'll be working through reading all of lore presented in these books in preparation to run my first campaign but il make sure to pay extra attention to the areas you pointed out. Thanks!
  7. So recently I picked up all the TTB books and thought you know, maybe we don't need a Outcasts book because alot of the iconic Outcasts is more or less covered. But then, my player who is a big fan of outcasts in malifaux immediately asks me if he can play as something close to Hamelin and I did some quick scans through the books and realized there really isn't any vermin manipulation stuff (unless i totally missed it). Hilariously the new NB book has something to summon beasts and swapfiends but that doesn't apply to vermin. With 10 thunders book likely being the "X" book it makes me wonder if this is the end of the originally intended bookline or if it was just something fun they did. Curious other people's opinion if we need a Outcasts book or if we generally already have other pursuits to cover the stylings of the masters and whatnot within that faction. Also, I know that if there isn't a direct vermin summoning option I can always extend summon malifauna to include them, I doubt it will break anything. Just thought it may be intentional and saved for an Advanced Pursuit following Hamelin's powers or something. Thanks for any replys and feedback.
  8. Bought the core book after my group really enjoyed the world of Malifaux. I'd gladly buy the rest of the expansions for it and jump in with both feet if I had confirmation the final faction books were still coming.
