Looks like something straight out form an anime 😮 good job!
  6. Those are very nice trees 😮 mind sharing how do you make them?
  7. I thought i might share some stuff i am working on, definitely not Malifaux or anything Wyrd, but related to the Base Challenge. Is not 100% finished, but I'm working on a 75mm mini from Big Child, and yesterday I worked on the base: The idea is to set up the guy in a mine under construction, and here's the guy double checking some blueprints
  8. How did I miss the painting competition anouncement!!! 😓. I love those challenges and how people go the extra mile with their submissions. @Caedrus can the competition submission be the may pledge? If so, my May pledge is a secret 😬
  9. welcome @LightningJuice very nice job on the hinamatsu, and killer bases for the titania crew, super them aproppiate 👏 @Caedrus i really love those drowned @Brushgit as caedrus already pointed out, those belnds in papa loco are INSANE 🎩
  10. Hi there! i managed to paint minako this weekend for 8SS. Used a nº1 brush, have been using it for a while, and the tip is a bit messed up, so at the end i'm glad i picked a mini with no eyes XD I spread the glue for the base with a toothpick, does it break the rules of the 1 brush challenge? So April pledge is complete, hopefully i might paint some more mali minis during the month, still don't know what
  11. Hi there! challenge accepted! I'll go back to TTs, and paint Minako Rei with a Nº1 brush 👍
  12. @Boomstick amazing job on the tartan 👏👏👏 @Brushgit you nailed the dogs fur colors, they look real 😮
  13. Hi there! i finished the Emissary! painting the guy and the trinkets in the baskets was a serious steady-hand test, i didn't do great, but i didn't have to correct many things after At the end i enjoyed it more that i thought i would.
  14. Thanks! i felt the same way, but I faced the mini as an exercise on textures, this motivated me to finally work on it. left the guy and all the knick-knacks for the end because i fear the moment to paint the face and the stuff in the baskets 😆
  15. First of all congrats to all of you who managed this month's challenge, i'm seeing very good results 🙌 @Harlekin i think that your work with the mourner is amazing. I really like the clash between the dark model and the bright base. If anything the green on the hat is the only bit that seems out of place, only from close and still gives an interesting effect. From playing distance looks very good. On my side i managed to work a bit on the hodgepodge emissary, it's a truly beautiful mini, with lots of details, and different textures, a tricky pleasure to paint ^^ here's a couple of WiPs
  16. Hi there! I'll pledge the Hodgepodge Emissary for march. I'll skip the primary colors challenge, at least for the emissary, I'm not confident about the potential outcome XD. i might try it with some other mini, malifaux or not, because it's something i've wanting to do for a long time ^^
  17. Hi there! today i did 2 bone piles (12SS), i stuck to the february challenge rules, and built & painted them in one day: Here's the result: And some of the wips: It was a fun thing to do, the hardest part was to find a whole day when i could focus 100% on painting without getting in trouble
  18. I might try this with a bone pile which will suit my 6ss for my enforcer pledge 😬
  19. @bedjy all of this in 1 month is insane, specially seeing the customizations in the minis, loving the bases and sparks wrench 👏👏 @Caedrus cool scheme, it totally works, very nice osl on the stalker. @Engorn super cool colorful paintjobs, also brilliant idea for the markers, genius👌
  20. Yesterday i finished my January pledge! 2 tiny guys for 4SS each witha total of 8SS The Hodgepodge Effigy: And the Kamaitachi: I wasn't very hyped about the Kamaitachi, but then I tried to paint it adding the texture myself, with tiny brushstrokes fro the hair, and just trying this i've never done before (bc i'm too lazy) made the whole process more interesting and enjoyable
  21. Hi there, a bit late for the feedback, but i hope is welcome nevertheless. I just want to add a couple of points to what has been already said, all of it very good advice. First point is that the key to paint a mini is contrast (NOT THE PAINTS, but the concept! 😆 ) There's a lot of theory around better explained than what i'll mention here, but 101 is that you want to differenciate a lot the areas where the light hits from the areas that stay in the shadow. And the more obvious is this difference the more the mini (or some details in the mini) will pop. You can do that by going from dark to light, or form 1 color to another, and sometimes by combining both. Check @Harlekin sybelle, in the top left picture is where is easier to see it, look at the pants, the corset or the feathers, they look great, and in all cases the color form the shadows is far from the colors in the illuminated areas. It goes from super dark to super light. Another good example is on @Vessien Fuhatsu's face, zoom on it and see the cheekbones and the space right under the cheekbones. Same with the nose & eyebrows vs the bit under the eyes. the contrast in those areas is huge, that's why you can see the face perfectly form far away. @Woody71 in your teddy you did it in the cotton that comes from his belly. My eyes went straight away to the cotton when I looked at the mini, there's a gray at the bottom and goes to white or almost white on the light areas. Nailed it! (also, killer job on his eyes too 👌 ) But then the color on the top of teddy's face is the same that the color on his underbelly, this makes the mini quite flat. Since is quite a big surface it will be hard to work on it, but even some good ol' drybrushing will create an easy light effect (for those large areas get yourself a cheap big make up brush, and do very very light drybrushing as many times as you need until you are happy with the result) then add final touches in the most illuminated areas with a regular brush. @Maogrim i really like the color scheme for the illuminated, is not easy to paint a mini with similar colors (browns in this case) and still separate the parts. I like specially the rightmost illuminated. The glow in the eyes as it has been said doesn't look right, when i have to do something like this I go to the internet and look for references, every single time, because is super hard to get it right, and the way the light behaves is sometimes counterintuitive, so better have a reference form a pro. Doesn't need to be a mini, could be from any artwork, or picture. Another very important point is keeping in mind what do you want to achieve with the paintjob. Do you want to reach a super neat paintjob? or just want your minis to look great in the table? Because if it's the first case yes, it makes total sense to spend a lot of time glazing and trying to get a transition between areas as neat as possible, but there's absolutely no need for perfect transitions on a great paintjob (see again vessien's fuhatsu armor, if you zoom in you can see the transitions perfectly, but is a super cool paintjob, it has the right brushtrokes in the right place with the right color, and it works 👌 )
  22. Yeah, looks totally doable, right? but the main problem is not the time, but the focus, or the lack of XD I know myself, and half way to the project i'll get bored and had 3 different ideas on which i'll want to start working ASAP, and while working on one of those ideas, i'll have a couple more, and then a cool instagram challenge will come across, and it's already october which means Rotten Harvest, and look! it's december and I only painted minako rei and the archers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  23. Hi there! checking late, but 100% in for this year's challenge too!!! (i'll keep going with the enforcer level of 6SS @Caedrus ). For this month i'll pledge 2 small minis, the hodgepodge effigy, and the kamaitachi, fpr 4SS each. And for the hobby resolutions, mine are: 1- try to get skilled familiar with the airbrush 2- paint more bigger scale stuff, like busts & 75mm 3- and this one is a long shot, but I'd like to paint the entire last blossom keyword (i've only painted shang so far) Have a nice 2021 everyone! ❤️
  24. Hi there! Done for the month with the obsidian statue (9 SS) I tried to keep it as much "obsidian black" as possible while also creating a color contrast going from blueish grays on the top highlights to red/orange on bottom fire OSL highlights. The images are so dark is quite hard to see the bottom OSL though... i might try to take pics with a lighter background and see if looks better. Next year there will be more and (hopefully) better ^^ And in case there's no chance to write here again in the next days: merry Xmas to everyone, and have a happy entrance to a less crazy new year!
