    Thanks all. I should have been clear the group is sticking with 2ed for the indefinite future, so I'm happy to pursue marcus as he currently works. Ill take another look at warpigs and molemen. Proxy them a little before committing

    Hello, another new player. Had my first game with Marcus yesterday. Schemese plant evidence, spring a trap, line in sand and squatters rights - so a swirling mess of conufsion, scheme makers and death along the center line. List was claw and fang (myranda sacing for sabre turn three), kudra, 3xhoarcat prides. I was up against a minion wave Macabe list, and was slaughtered... although having checked the errata I actually had 9 points spare, so some expansion is clearly needed. I have all the gamin and the shasta vidja at the moment, along with the medical autonomota. I think I'm starting to like a walk of 7 and a fast moving game. Even with Marcus, Myranda and Kudra on the table I had trouble using up my soulstones. I was alphaing every turn, but with no big target on the other side it was mostly getting cojo to places quicker. In retrospect I feel like I gave up marcus's turn to double cojo's and I'm not sure that is a good trade. The rattler was sent as a tarpit against the dawnserpent, mcabe and luna. It took up 2ap of mcabe before dying quickly. Cojo was where I learnt the perils of Danzey's Chaunt. Sabre was slowed and machine gunned to death in a single turn. Hoarcats are incredibly efficient guild hounds swallowers and good little scheme runners (and now cheaper!). Kudra and Myranda match each other for speed, can defend each other and work quite nicely (difficult to shoot them becuase of Kudra's soft cover and butterfly jump, diffucult to charge them because of Myranda's skinwalk threat), but the duo is quite expensive. Questions: 1) is my 'i like high movement' feeling becuase it's a compensation for being inexperienced at placement to start with, and I should focus on schemes and activations more? Molemen? 2) why have I never seen Marcus with warpigs or wild boar?, Pull My finger suggests he can take them: https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/1293024/pages/marcus 3) I'm not a fan of the models for the raptors, or the slate ridge mauler. I do quite like the waldgeists (which I know people recommend) and the grootslang (thoughts?). 4) Ranged options. I could just take some arcanist shooty goodness, but how do people find the dawn serpent?
  3. If im reading the short guide correctly, marcus as leader has access to the neverborn beasts even when run as arcanist. So things like the rattler, the bandersnatch, the rougaru ect Or does that confuse the listing post too much as they are not available to others? (Id just picked up marcus hence the interest)
  4. Any reason not to have neverborn beasts for marcus? His box rattler has switched faction after all..
  5. Huh. Sandeep's third string of poison minions gets rafkin to join kudra and the poison gamin. Bit baffled why hes gone arcanist. Mithridization for everyone! Except sandeep who remains a little embarrassed by the idea.
  6. Im a beginner two games under my belt. One was sandeep "wall of gamin" vs a five strong Tony gang. The second was sandeep "small tough elite" vs brewmaster and pandora threeway. Obviously the games played very differently. So i am wondering what rules of thumb people use. Do you choose schemes based on vp available, then buy models for that scheme at five soulstones per vp probable? Do you budget x cards per scheme or y cards to caster, rest for criticals? Wall of gamin i had so many low value activations i could afford to keep all cards for Sandeep, but with a small tough force every activation was precious and sandeep starved for cards. Do you split forces along beat down and area control? Im starting to think of summoning as a movement trick, not a resource one, dropping a tough metal gamin on an objective is better then dropping a fast wind gamin that will not survive. But it feels like area control/ denial is not critical in malifaux compared to potential move and reach of actions. Do you put any consideration into guessing/ preventing /frustrating opponents schemes? Or is the complexity distraction and focus on scoring more important?
  7. A moments silences for the poor rail golem then. The grave golem is a vessel for the Grave Spirit no? Theres also electrical creations. I suppose fire and ice have cherufel and December, but metal wind, whiskey and poison have no association with a known tyrant (unless mei fang is the other half of the dragon). Steam gamin. Weak attack with a push, but can charge through models scalding as it does. Coal gamin - literally same rules as union rail workers Print gamin. "Intriguing papercuts. 0/1/2 2"range gives slow on trigger Spoilheap gamin. Lobs like fire or poison gamin. Triggers a dust cloud of soft cover Fabric gamin. Im stumped. Luggage gamin. Trunk with teeth. melee only. On trigger transports you to base to base with nearest other luggage gamin.
  8. I love the models and rules for the fire, wind, ice, metal and poison gamin. But as types they are a bit generic. We have a rail golem, why not a rivet gamin? Types id love to see: Steam gamin Coal gamin Print gamin / ink gamin Spoilheap gamin Fabric gamin
  9. One small request for 3e. The scheme flip table - can the numbered schemes also be alphabetical in order? It doesnt change the odds and would make looking their details up much easier.

A similar topic that did not cover it is here: Cannot be moved and pushed 1) i read that as 'can be placed' so sandeep's 'place within 6"' spell allows the gamin to move on cast. 2) Magentisim "push this model 6" towards target construct, then target suffers 2 damage which ignores armour" Does this mean the damage cannot happen unless you are pushed the full 6"?
