  1. I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm trying to create a terrain set for the Malifaux Museum of Natural History. I remember reading somewhere that the exhibits include a two headed dinosaur skeleton, a stuffed nephilim, and used to include the Gorgon's Tear. I cannot for the life of me find where I read that. Does anyone know where the inside of the museum is described?

  2. I'm assuming Sandeep will be focusing on the Academic part of his keyword instead of Elemental, so I'm hoping he gets paired with von Schtook. Transmortis University recently decided to accept living students, so an exchange student Academic/Transmortis would make some sense and they have prior history. Sandeep apparently gave von Schtook his first book on necromancy.

  3. Hi all! I'm looking to get my hands on the M3e Mechanical Doves from the new Colette core box.

I purchased the M2e box, but I've found it impossible to attach the doves to their flight stands and would much rather have it integrated all as one piece. Thanks!

  4. The announcement mentions "Additionally, we'll also have this month's new releases available during the sale. Those latest releases have already been sent out to distributors and will hit local game store shelves soon. " Does that mean March releases or April releases? Specifically, I'm looking for the Crack in the Foundation, Makin' Bacon, and Waiting in the Wings boxes.

  5. Hey all. With the release of the Night of the Harvest Men scenario, I've been inspired to get our group to try some Halloween scenarios for Malifaux. I've found some good ones in old issues of Wyrd Chronicles that I can update to M3e, but I was hoping someone on here had the old scenarios from 2009 and 2010. I've found lots of old posts online talking about them, but all the links are broken. Presumably because they're ten years old. Anyway, if anyone has the pdfs I would be very grateful. Thanks!

  6. Hmm. I've never used an Acolyte before. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the idea of it being a fair trade for the Ice Golem as he's been a very effective beater for me so far. I guess there's no other way to find out but to do it.

If I swap the Hoarcat for the Soulstone Miner but leave the magical training intact, I'm only left with two stones. If I purchase a Soulstone Cache for the Blessed, that will leave me with a cache of zero stones. Is the return rate on the Soulstone Miner high enough that it's worth it going into the game with zero stones?

  7. Hey all. I'm hoping my fellow Arcanists can help me with an upcoming match.

I'm scheduled to play our local Gremlin player on Sunday. Masters haven't been declared yet, but there's a very good chance it will wind up being Rasputina vs Mah Tucket. Last time we had such a match, he brought two Soulstone Miners and the Lucky Emissary and spent most of the game merrily destroying all of my carefully summoned ice pillars.

The game is 40SS, and this is my usual load out for Rasputina:

    Rasputina

    Wendigo

    Snowstorm

    Ice Golem

    Blessed of December

    Silent One

    Hoarcat w/ Magical Training

Any tips, tricks, or recommendations on how to handle a Mah Tucket crew hell bent on destroying each and every ice pillar?

  8. For anyone still interested, I checked with my opponent and I was indeed wrong about the monks. It was two Low River Monks and one High River Monk. Here's the full list:

    Shenlong

    Aspiring Student

    Sensei Yu

    Charm Warders x2

    High River Monk

    Low River Monk x2

Also, in the interest of full disclosure I played another game with Sandeep against Captain Zipp. It was close (5 to 4) and I definitely made some mistakes, but I'm hopeful that Sandeep isn't as OP as I originally thought.

  9. 1. You're definitely right about the hand size. Nuts. I had thought you needed to discard down to the hand size at the end of the turn, but I clearly didn't read the rulebook enough. For those curious, it's right on page 7. "If, after resolving any Action, Trigger, or Ability, any player's hand size exceeds their maximum hand size, they must discard down to meet their maximum hand size." I hate it when I cheat by accident.

    2. Everyone pretty much focused once per turn for the first three turns, so most of my models had between 2 and 3 focus when the game was called.

  10. I didn't take detailed notes and I'm not 100% sure I have his crew right, but here's the basics:

We got corner deployment with Turf War as our strategy. I picked Harness the Ley Line and Breakthrough as my schemes. He picked Harness the Ley Line and Assassinate.

I basically divided my crew into two groups. The ice gamin formed and Ice Golem and went off with Banasuva to secure the turf marker to the left of my deployment zone. My plan was for them to then march forward to claim turf marker just outside his deployment zone and then park in his deployment zone for the scheme points. Also lay down some scheme markers in my backfield to get the Ley Line. I figured Banasuva could force ice pillars out of the Golem which it could then eat to keep itself alive. Plus, before they formed into a golem I had Banasuva toss the gamin to cover ground more quickly.

The rest of my crew marched forward to meet him in the middle. Ideally this would mean securing the center turf marker, but mostly I figured it would tie him up and maybe kill a bunch of guys so he didn't notice the Ice Golem and Evil Genie sneaking into his homebase.

He did much the same. A few monks (and a charm warder I think) peeled off to secure the other turn marker, and the rest met me in the center.

That's largely where it started to go wrong (although my opponent said the moment it went wrong was in turn one when I had ten cards in my hand). Kandara got off a really lucky hit on Sensei Yu and killed him in one turn. Sandeep had ordered her to perform a ranged attack on his action. She managed to score a Severe wound despite a negative flip and teleported next to him. On her next activation she beat him to death with three attacks thanks to flurry, all of which were supported by her previously hoarded focus.

That left my opponent with Shenlong, a Charm Warder, and some monks against Sandeep, Kudra, Kandara, and three fire gamin about to become a Fire Elemental. All of them where shielded and/or on fire and had banked focus. He didn't see a way out at that point and conceded the game.

  11. Deployment was Corner. The strategy was Turf War. I had chosen Breakthrough and Harness the Ley Line as my schemes. He had chosen Harness the Ley Line and Assassinate. By turn three this had turned into a large scrum in the middle. To my left I had sent three Ice Gamin which turned into an Ice Golem and Banasuva to secure one of the turf markers and then march upfield into his deployment zone. He had sent off some monks to his left to secure the turf marker and lay down scheme markers on the ley line.

The problem seemed to be the scrum in the middle. I got really lucky with Kandara and managed to kill Sensei Yu in one turn. (Sandeep gave her an order, she threw a knife at him and scored a Severe despite a negative flip on the damage, teleported next to him and proceeded to murder him to death with three attacks thanks to flurry and spending all her focus).

That left him with Shenlong, a Charm Warder, and some monks against Sandeep, Kandara, Kudra, three Fire Gamin soon to become a Fire Elemental, and an Oxfordian Mage. Everyone had some degree of Shielded and/or burning as well as focus. He didn't see a way out of that.

  12. Hey all. I’ve been playing Malifaux since the closed ME3 beta and have recently switched from Neverborn to Arcanists. Last night I had probably the most frustrating, unfun game of Malifaux so far. The game was Sandeep Desai vs. Shenlong.

Around turn 3, my opponent was so frustrated that he conceded the game as he felt there was nothing he could do and to continue playing would be an exercise in masochism. Between the overlapping mantras giving out burning and shielded and the insane card draw, it seemed to him that there was no way to hurt any of my crew or resist being murdered.

    My crew was the following:

    Sandeep Desai

    Banasuva

    Kandara

    Kudra

    Oxfordian Mage

    Fire Gamin x2

    Ice Gamin x2

I’m working from memory the morning after, but I believe this was his crew:

    Shenlong

    Sensei Yu

    Low River Monk x3

    Aspiring Student

    Charm Warder x2

While I technically won, neither of us felt good about it and it definitely wasn’t a fun evening. I play Malifaux primarily for fun rather than competition, so this is a bit of a problem. I’d hate to stop playing Sandeep since I just got this crew and really love the models, but I also really don’t want a repeat of last night.

My opponent has access to Shenlong, Yan Lo, Asami Tanaka, and Misaki for Ten Thunders crews. Is there a known solution to Sandeep available to any of those Ten Thunders masters? Is there a way to play Sandeep that is fun for both players?
