  1. Thanks for the replies, very helpful! I figured #4 might have been a bit unclear. I guess I'm just looking for something a little more abstract than for example Infinity (which felt almost like a simulation with the reactive movement and a million different modifiers everywhere). The victory conditions in Malifaux I like a lot, strong selling point for me. For the terrain, I actually have to apologize I briefly forgot this is the official wyrd forums, a bit rude of me to ask about another companies product here. Are there terrain guidelines for roughly how much you need for a table? Thanks for pointing out the base sizes for Puppet Wars, if that's the only thing I'd need for them to be legal then that seems like a decent way to start simple.
  2. Hey there, I'm looking to try to rope a few friends into some miniature gaming, and one of my alternatives is Malifaux, but I have some questions I hope you fine folks could help me with! 1) How much hidden information is there in the game? Most of my friends are not fluent in english, so if there's a ton of secret information to keep track of then that's a little bit of a drawback. For example, I've recently played a decent bit of Shadespire and while we really enjoy it and are going to play more, it does take some away from the game if I have to translate or clarify card effects that should be hidden. I know malifaux has hidden schemes (I think they are called), but there's not as many right? I.E we could reasonably go over them prior and then after they pick one there's only one they need to know. 2) One of the other games I'm considering is the new Kill Team from GW, would the terrain in that box be sufficient for a low points malifaux game? I am not much of a terrain building person (at least not on the scale of creating a full table), so being able to square the terrain away easily like that would be great, could try both games at once. 3) Would Puppet Wars Unchained work as an introduction to the game? I know it's different from malifaux but might it work as a stepping stone - getting used to the whole cards-as-dice thing and what not? Also, can the puppet wars crews be used as their Malifaux counterparts or would there be scale issues? I love the little puppets, and you get 2 fate decks as well... :) 4) How game:y is Malifaux? What I mean is... something like Warmachine or Shadespire feels very game:y with points victories and scoring zones etc. While Infinity or maybe 40k feels more like a war-sim if that makes sense? I haven't played either much so maybe I'm off-base. But basically, I would strongly prefer something more game:y over war-sim:y. I tried infinity recently and while it's really cool, it just felt a bit... fiddly and dicey? I'd like something a little more abstracted I think. 5) Last one I think. With M3e coming up, is it still safe to buyin now? What I mean is, are the crew boxes still going to all be legal or are there any I should avoid? I've done a little research and know that Lilith, Collodi and.... I think there was one more, aren't going to be fully supported going forward, but barring those three, should the rest be 'future proof'? Phew, that was a lot of questions! Really appreciate any answers as well as other suggestions :) Oh and I'm in Korea so if anyone else is and knows somewhere to play (I think Miniature Zone in Seoul does, but it's a little far for me to go there regularly), let me know!
