  1. @Caedrus : I had angel eyes and howard langston from scratch and finishing 2 orderlies, heartsbane, scion and grimwell. I've done all the starter lot but I've not even managed to start howard yet. I have all sunday to do it, but I don't want to rush it and screw it up so I might have to take the fail.
  2. My plan is Howard Langston and Angel Eyes from scratch, and finishing touches on Scion of black blood, nurse heartsbane and an orderly (I did them a bit for a game I had mid month ). Also a wizkids D&D ranger, fwiw.
  3. Ok. Completed this about a week ago, but not had a chance to post them so I'm going to sneak in before it shuts. (With/without flash) Layering has yet to properly click for me, and I ended up being a bit frustrated at points with what was going on here. But it's done. Just need to try something a bit different next month.
  4. My guess would be Test Subjects in Bayou. Part of Mah's crew.
  5. Like this model/art. Mortimer's not really a sinister guy imho, and this reflects his jolly nature. He's the guy that makes you think nothing weird is going on and keeps you distracted whilst Nicodem sneaks up behind you with a hammer.
  6. Was reading a one of the older stories from the 1st edition (at the end of storm of shadows). That has a dude that's killing people in order to charge soulstones, which he uses in an exoskeleton in order to extend his lifespan. I mention it because he gets called a vampire by the people trying to stop him. Not really what you're looking for but maybe interesting anyway.
  7. @bedjy There's some great stuff in there and the detail work on the hinamatsu's obviously special but i can't stop looking at that piglet. Amazing texture there.
  8. Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I've been diluting my paints a bunch when doing layers (as per the gw meme), but I found myself wanting to have it thicker when trying to do highlighting work, as I felt it just wasn't coming off the brush properly otherwise. WRT to wash, I was definitely a bit too guilty of putting too much on there. I did one of the starter set minis a few months back, and I just slathered it on him and he ended up looking p bad, so I tried to tone it down a bit with this and just do the sunken bits, but even still I need to be more tidy. My biggest dissapointment were with the faces, I was hoping that the wash would add a bit more definition to the eyes and mouth, but as I said, it mostly just ended up making them look dirty. For now I think I just need to focus on the motor control, going in with a bit more of a plan, and having a better idea with what I'm doing with the paint consistency. I might skip the steamfitters for feb and do some gamin + punk zombies instead, do something a bit more uniform rather than fine-detailed. I know the photo's not great as a said, mostly I was just making sure to post it because I wouldn't have another chance before the end of jan.
  9. I'm open to it (though not with a crappy photo like the one I took). For the minute I think I just need a steadier hand, and that'll hopefully come. The main thing that didn't come to me at all despite a couple of tries was edge highlighting. So that and keeping an eye out for drybrushing application circumstances is a thing going forward.
  10. This is somewhat cheaty "proof" as I still need to drybrush the base mud white, waiting for it to dry properly atm. Not especially happy with them but that's because these are the first minis I've really painted, and everyone around here is so great, so it's always going to take practice to make it look as what others are showing. And they're miners, they're allowed to look dirty, which helps with things like wash overuse. Good stuff on this challenge forcing me to do it though, they'd still be unpainted now if it wasn't for it. For next month I'll probably stick to theme and try 3 steamfitters, similar but a bit more colourful.
  11. I played brewmaster and he feels very functional. There's a small chance of setting fire to all your own models but it's not chaotic. Cooper's definitely got fun flavour though, with all her abilities based around ramming barrels on things.
  12. Hopefully this just results in a "launch" where people have a more critical eye towards certain things than if it was a full launch. Echo chambers are for sure a thing but i think there's also something to be said for the advantage of many voices working together.
  13. I know it's a bit late, but I need some pressure to do some models, and signing up to this is as good as impetus as any. I'd like to get a union miner done before the end of Jan. (Ideally all 3, but I am starting late.)
  14. Yeah, maybe if the average people were more scared of them it could work, pushing fearful people into the arms of the guild. But people aren't really scared of the M&SU in quite that way, and it's too fundamental to their bottom line to be something they'd plausibly mess with. Your average malifaux conspiracy theorist would probably have a better time saying that the guild created the Ressers. They're obviously scary and have a lot of ties to the guild.
  15. No, just outcasts. That clause is to stop him being hired via keyword by Nekima, presumably.
  16. Maybe some of it just new poses. I think we've had some great raspy sculpts, and the last marcus one was amazing too. Really anything that comes after them is going to be a step backwards just on the law of averages. I'd like to see the images for some of the models that had more boring sculpts in the last edition. EDIT: To clarify i really liked most of the wave 5 art. I thought it had a lot of character.
  17. Like the fact that she plays with other players hands, and the guessing stuff is fun. Hopefully her crew is bad enough that models actually need to spend the pass tokens to be good, making it a bit more of a decsision as to whether you use them or not.
  18. Would if I could. Applications have been closed for ages and there are no intentions to reopen it. A shame but hey.
  19. Raspys got a lot going on and deserves a bit of leeway, imho, she's practically a deep cover agent. Also her association with the arcanists is really just because they're the only sane people that she can rely on.
  20. I imagine you're right to an extent that they've pared it back, but I can't see things like the mechanical porkchop and Lazarus losing it. I still think that Hoffman will get something else and constructs will continue to be the thing that drops scrap markers though. The alternative is having a special rule on all relevant models that they drop scrap markers, and that seems untidy (although maybe they've completely changed the mechanics and now no markers are generated on model death, only through other means).
  21. There's no limit on hiring enforcers generally. Some enforcers have the rare keyword, and you can only hire that many of that specific enforcer. Oxfordian Mages for example have rare 3, so you can hire 3 of them. Other than that have as many as you want.
  22. Depends what they're doing with scrap markers now. If constructs are still the things that drop them I could see it being one of the keywords that goes over multiple factions and not being relevant for faction hiring. Give Hoffman something like Amalgamations relevant to his office. It just lets Ramos take his traditional crew of all the robots plus cyborgs like joss and howard who might not be in Hoffmans thematic crew.
