These are excellent! Love the portal and the OSL. You've really improved since you started posting in the forums👏

I'm no expert on NMM gold, and I think this looks really good, it's hard to belive it's your first attempt. I think you can go even darker to enhance the illusion of reflecting metal next time. If I've understood the colour theory right, you also want a slightly green hue in the darkest shadows. But I've never actually attempted it myself, so I may be wrong.

Hello, dear Wyrdos!

It's me again. While I enjoyed hosting the painting challenge last year, my time for painting and follow-up just didn't work out, and sadly I had to give in to real life issues.

However, one month into 2024, I feel a deep hole inside where the challenge used to be. So I am starting out a thread to post community painting progress. No time limits, no pledges, mulligans and buybacks.

Just post what you paint and get friendly feedback from other painters!

I have no idea if this will fly or just rot away in the forum backpages, but thought it worth a try.

You could always make a conversion/proxy. I made one out of a wild boar at the beginning of 3E. But you'll probably want more nephilim in a Nekima crew anyway. They're a quite keyword oriented lot.

Thought I'd just point out that if you want to play a crew led by Nekima, you'll find that you're missing her totem (new in M3E), and missing out on a free model when hiring.

As the year is approaching the end, I'll have to admit to "fumbling at the finish line". With all the stress of the holiday, life kinda took over all my spare time this december, and I had to put the challenge aside.

As the interest for this challenge has been dwindling through 2023, I don't have the motivation to keep this going in 2024. If anyone feels like keeping the wheels rolling feel free to take up the torch and I'll gladly follow.

But that's a lot of negative emotion from me on a day that should be optimistic and looking forwards instead of backwards. So I would like to thank everyone that's been following through the year and posting some impressive painting, both in quality and quantity. 

I have no intention of leaving the hobby, and have great plans for 2024. Not only do I still have a sizeable pile of shame left to paint, but there are also some interesting new stuff in store for 2024 that I'm quite eager to slap paint on and put to the table.

So I wish you all a happy new year, and see you again in 2024!

Now that the Wyrd competition is over and done, and I've finally managed to eat all the leftovers from Halloween, it's time to get back to the painting challenge!

But wait...  I'm not done with competitions quite yet! The Cult of Paint are once again holding MPO, so I guess it's time to get that Nekima model finished! That will probably take up all my painting time until the end of the month.

Enough about me... What will you fine peeps be painting this month?

As long as you're not targetting the markers or otherwise doing something to them, I don't see why they wouldn't be counted.

While I absolutely agree with the praise, I don't think you need to be so modest. I've seen your work, and it's quite stunning as well!

It's not new. I guess they just repacked existing stock from 2'nd edition.

Love the Noxious. Strangely stasifyingly putrid 🧌 Love the desaturated browns and greens!

@daemonkin Looks very promising👍 Airbrush is really useful tool, but can be hard to master. I always have to combine it with regular brushwork to get a good result. Sometimes to such an extent that I wonder if I had any use for the airbrush at all...

I haven't had time for much painting this month, so not my best work...

Realised after I started painting that I had forgot to fill gaps, but just didn't have time to fill them. And that kind of broke my motivation to paint them as best as I can. Not a big fan of the sculpts either. Oh, well...

Atleast I got them "ready" in time to play them in my league.

Now I can finally put all my efforts into the competition entry. 🥳

(Just waiting for some green stuff to cure, and I'm all set😉)

Hello again!

September went by so fast, and now we're here at October already. The month of darkness and horror. Yes, Halloween is coming, and so is Wyrd's painting competition:

I know just what I'm going to paint up for this one, but you'll have to wait to see it. Hope to see some entries from the rest of you lot as well😉

I'll also be contiuing with some more swampfiends for my escalation league. Next up are some Silurids that I hope to get done this month.

@Hawkoon Zoraida and the Toad look great. I love that totem so much - one of my favourite Malifaux models.

I like the sculpt of the toad too, but I'm not that happy with the material. I don't really know what I dislike about it, but the paintjobs tend to end up more dull than the regular plastic models. Still a fun model to paint though😄

Love your alt emmy. It might not be Wyrd, but it certainly fits the role. And that base looks fantastic! Cork with cracklepaint?

Some good advice above, I'd just like to add that the emissary is really really good with Titania1. It might as well be a keyword model, I can't even remember playing a Titania1 game without it....

Between both titles I'd say she's different enough. If you want to cover everything you'll need more than 2 masters.

You already got 2 of the best beaters in faction in Hinamatsu and the Rider, and Zoraida1 makes very good use of these by obeying them to do more of what they want to do. If you need schemers, silurids are probably one of the best models for that in the game and can be used to good effect with both titles (though Zoraida2 does not have a range limit on moth witch, and is probably the better pick in scheme heavy pools). With a powerful obey on Zoraida1, you also have tools to deny your opponent scoring certain schemes and strats as well.

I feel it's also worth noting that both titles have a fair amount of card draw/manipulation as well.

The weakest point in a Zoraida crew is that both titles are quite dependant on other models to do the heavy lifting, so losing key models can be devastating for her.
