  1. so when m3e first dropped they tried to limit summoners to one per faction, so ressers got kirai with mcmorning having a supplemental summon and molly having a enforcer who can summon , since then titles have dropped so now seamus 2 summons and mcmorning 2 dispite the action being the game his summon become a much more important part of his kit 

    vonstook is your "zombie" master now (the guy who replaced nico) and original version kind of summons but only part of his kit

  3. Starting in January i'll be running a league based out of element games in stockport south manchester 

    the league will generally be ran on wednesday nights which is our regular meeting nights although games can be played on other nights. league games can be in any order and fixtures and results will shared though the northwest malifolks discord  found here - https://discord.gg/qWX2Pqg2F8

    sign ups can either be done here or thought the discord 

    games will be played at 50ss with the fixtures each having assigned pools, usual hiring rules excluding no hiring of additional masters

    prizes to be confirmed but hoping to get wyrd support as well as few other places as well 

    each player is restricted to two masters throughout the event to use, though these masters don't have to be from the same faction (og and titles count as a single master for this purpose, duel faction masters have to declare which faction representing throughout the event) 

    to sign up i just need you name, your discord id and the two masters your playing (this can be edited prior to the event)

  4. honestly 80-90% of masters are compeatively viable, and crew knowledge will generally beat crew power, though obviously crew power will have a factor for 2 equilly skilled opponents) 

     

    Playstyle and liking the models is a huge factor in staying in the game to some degree so yer making sure you like what your playing is important 

    If your wanting to try a crew before you buy, vassal might be worth a look which is a computer program allowing you to play online (essentially free table top simulater) obviously no where near as good as real thing but might be worth trying a couple of shortlisted crews out before you buy

    essentially giving you two schemers in carlos and fire starter, two tanks with Elijah and golem, a healer with the Firebranded, and kaeris herself is an allrounder#

    for kaeris 2 you might consider swapping Firestarter for deacon?

     

    if your friend was willing to soften the theme restrictions slightly, the arcane emissary and the mech rider are both models with a lot of flame on them that that can match with kaeris play style quite a lot. the emissary is a beat stick with a lot of pushes which kaeris likes as more pushes means more triggers of her pyre markers, where as the rider works quite well with Elijah as hes quite a static model who can get left behind in a kaeris crew on occasion. the rider also adds some scheme marker dropping which is something the crew isn't amazing at, while also gives some card draw to supplement the card manipulation from blaze of glory  

  6. so first of all, only some people think Firebranded, suck, a fair few people quite like them, the heal a lot and are relatively tanky with a decent ranged attack 

     

    your magic liking friend, have they had a look at sandeep, there not usually the first master I'd suggest to new players as there a bit expensive to collect as their crew is spread around several boxes, but thermality they fit a lot of what you listed, he himself is a ranged magical summoner that also gets to make his models take extra actions outside of their activations while his crew is diverse featuring everything from tanky elemental golems, to fast moving wind gamin to human mages as well having a fair few movement tricks. 

    the other possible crew to look at would be molly who would prob be cheaper but has a lot of the same appeal. she's a ranged spell caster, who doesn't summon herself but does have a model in her crew that does, and is more controlling than sandeep and her crew has a ton of movement tricks.

     

    for your model who likes guns, perdita, raspy, parker, lord cooper and ophelia are generaly your "gun" crews, where as if your looking for conditions, mcmoring and brewy are your poison crews, kaeris, Reva and Sonia are your fire crews and then pandora kind of uses all conditions 

    if your looking for control crews, then youko, colette and seamus all can be controlling, youko actually makes your opponent start with one less card, Colette is highly mobile while having tones of movement tricks while seamus also has a ton of movement attacks while also carrying around the biggest gun in the game

  8. Sandeep summoning toolbox minions also is effected by summons not being able to score schemes 

     

    Yer i guess some summoners losing ability to summoning and some non summonerd gaining summon changes how you build crews but doesnt change keyword 

     

    Hoffman 2 doesnt remove the fact hes leading a bunch of armoured power tokens consuming models (its just how they get tokens) 

  9. one thing to consider is no one has changed keyword (other than levi) so the keyword functions in much the same way, a few of the master want more in keyword support now (there is a reason to take death marshals in lady J 2) but nothing has changed in that regard,

    so this is my thought on arcanist one 

    Meifeng is a difficult one because Mei one has so many issues so her position is mostly based off meifeng 2 which i don't have a lot of experience with but has been doing well in world series, although how much of her effect is down to a gimmick that will be countered is yet to be seen 

    Ironsides as a "bubble master" is restrictive in her flexibility although Ironsides 2 opens her up a lot more and i think she might drag her maybe to a 5, but its hard to say with so little play time and lack of info from MWS

     

    Sandeep and Marcus feel fairly similar, both of them have a fair amount of flexibility with diverse keywords but have weakness. Marcus has some terrible match ups and can be quite fragile, while sandeep is quite card intensive with little card draw now and his summons and with his powers combined seem quite neutered with gg2 changes 

     

    Kaeris is quite powerful in what she does and is a hard one to rank in terms of flexibility, one one side she has one of the best scheming flankers in game in carlos and a realy good tanky beater in Elijah, and fire golem, deacon (in kaeris 2) and fire branded all have good roles. but then you don't have much beyond that. iggy can be a good disruption model but doesn't offer much else, Firestarter is generally a worse wind gamin outside of his disruption and fire gamin arnt worth taking so she needs veracities to fill in spots, but then kaeris one can operate with almost nothing else in keyword 

     

    Hoffman has an amazing keyword full of diverse models and then hoff1 has extra synergies on top of that with the various veracities and even coryphée duet (i think metal gamin/golem are the only construct I've not brought in a hoff crew) he might not have the raw power of Colette but hes still pritty good and in some pools superior

     

    Colette despite her nurfs I still think is top of the arcanist tree, Don't mind me is such a great ability in gg2 and no other keyword has as much as Colette has. add on the mobility of Carlos, the ap of duet, flexibility of Cassandra and even the movement tricks of angelica and you have a some great models. then you have option of solo coryphée, Harrata, Dorian and mannequins. 

     

    Raspy I've not ranked cos I've almost no experience with either version so i don't want to put a pin in a yet. if your were going to force my hand id maybe say 6/7 in both categories but I could be clutching at straws either way 

     

    obviously if someone else wants to chime in with their thoughts on arcanist be my guest, but thats my thoughts

  11. I guess it depends on upgrade and what it does.....or i guess more likely is it ancient Pact/magical training or something else 

     

    Ive see ancient pack/magical training on cheap models kept at the back cos they are almost seen as crew upgrades rather than model upgrades, and the model is just there to caddy the upgrade over anything else 

     

    Meanwhile some upgrades are there to make a model work but dont do much for the crew overall and then and wont be seen otherwise
