  1. I think OG Parker also just as heavily suffered from power creep, so choosing him, as much as I loved running him in GG0/1, doesn't make a ton of sense when for much less work I could run other masters and garner better results.

But ya, Protection Money in Parker didn't break anything, since you really only ever got the draw off reliably on Parker's activation. So an "optimal(?)" draw-turn involved Parker shooting 3 times while within 6 of the target(s), and either stoning/cheating for the (checks notes) not-built in trigger to force the marker drop.  And that was removed for....reasons? I guess?  I'm happy with Wanted Criminal now because its fantastic on ronin and i'm stupid enough to keep trying to make Viks viable, but ya, it wasn't breaking the game and they clearly intentionally removed it from Outcasts (now only factions with it are Thunders and Guild - on Steward).

Overall though, oh well.  This will jsut force us all to figure out the most effective hyper-alpha we can drop into Thunders if we face them. If this gets changed, i dobut it'll be before 2024, so at at certain point vocalizing on the issue is just us venting.  I'm think sometime of Freikorps Hannah blasting bomb to disrupt it is the way I want to try and go about it, but now sure yet.  On the brightside, I'm sure I'll have tons of chances to learn to beat it, cause its gonna be played all the !#$%@# time :D

Meanwhile Bandit players are over here in the corner wondering how on earth Koji managed to swing getting to actually place the dropped markers himself... and why they lost access to Protection Money too despite not being remotely as exploitable.

    #unnerf Wanted Criminal.

Dangit mate I was SPECIFICALLY trying to not think about this, for fear of having my blood boil and head explode in rage....lolol

  3. So I played against this last night, and found it crippling.  I'll fully acknowledge I 1) made poor list building choices 2) didn't respect 4 Winds Kidnap with Up We Go 3) Had poor target selection 4) Played all together significantly worse than my opponent at what i consider "normal" for me

That said.  Shenlong has a massive flexible keyword that allows him to do many many things well, and combing that with near endless cards to cheat makes him a terrifying prospect to overcome.  In the 1 and a half(?) turns we played, i counted at least 20 cards drawn over the course of using the Koji/4 winds/totem/Shen combo.  I resigned roughly in the middle of T2, after I had lost my master (Title Viks), Taelor, and Hans was at 1 wound.

My opponent was able to use 13s 5 times in the first have of T2, while continuedly keeping his hand at 6 cards.  A hand of severes, coupled with Ch (+2 to duel total) left him consistently at a 19 or better on his attacks (or defenses) with Shen, while the 13s were able to be dumped into Futahso's/Wind golem's attacks without any recourse on my part.

The 20 cards drawn include me spending a stunned AP on the viks to bonus action remove all scheme markers in range - so this name, had i not done that, would have been at least 4 higher; my opponent also elected to use Shen only attacking T2, rather than drawing another 12 (4 per attack) on his activation.

I resigned when he had killed my Leader and other primary beater, and still had a hand of severes (he told me as such) without even using the totems T2 to draw additional cards.  So, 20 cards (at least) drawn in a combined total of 21? activations in the entire game before we called it.  It was a legitimately unfun experience that had my opponent apologizing to me.

I do not know what the fix is; but something clearly needs to be change. Is it distruptable?  Yes, I could have dove Viks in 1st activation of the game and theoretically could have killed a totem or 2 and that would have cut the engine, but in my viewing, outside a extreme hyper alpha (which without a easy focus engine i did not bring) it is a coin flip at best to pull off.  If I had done so and it failed, now my Leader is inside his crew while he draws a dozen cards.

Does Protection Money need to 1) Not Stack? 2) Be Once Per Activation? or Koji 1) Enemy Only?

Of course Molly just single-activationed Arik start of turn 2 while Archie tied up the whole backline, so maybe it'd be different in a more usual-case game.

You're a monster.  I thought kiwis were supposed to be kind! :P

Though that really does show the problem with the whole "10ss 8 wd" henchmen...even armor doesn't do much....honestly surprised against irreducible Arik even hits the board 🤐

  5. When do people consider playing Darth Schill instead of OG?  Since Burns dropped, I've found reason to play Darth exactly 4 times, with one of those games being a showmatch against Title Hoff.  The other times were just random practice for an event and then 2 event games against Pandora.  In every other case, when, OG feels the pick without question.

What pools/matchups/reasons do y'all look for to take Darth?  I'm stand firmly by that he's a solid pick into Dora, but beyond that, I really don't know.

It is almost entirely in Keyword though. Shush.

The Hanged comparison in particular though is funny because their version uses a Tome trigger which actually works the way Parker2 is seemingly designed to work.

Lololol yup, i noticed that too when i was building the list.  Not only does it "work" as Parker is intended, its easier to get cause they can 1) stone 2) attack Mv with a +1/2/3/(4?!?!) advantage (que evil laughter)

was this after your Zipp rudely attacked a peaceful group of sisters who were having a picnic?

I played Von Schill in the second round of the tournament this weekend and my poor opponent hadn't faced Freikorps before. Although I explained what the crew did and that Hannah and Arik can put out a ton of damage, I think he was shocked at how easily Arik deleted Howard Langston. Those two models can do a lot of work.

While much of this discussion might not seem relevant to the original post, I do think the evolution of the discussion helps to highlight why there  are much better options in Freikorps than Lazarus. I really want him to be good, but there is almost never a situation where he is a useful addition to the crew.

Yes, Hannah can copy actions from equipment upgrades. It's great for her because she can use the leap from Rocket Boots, which will be on Arik to hop forward and fire her rocker launcher round one. Opponents don't always see that one coming but more importantly, Arik still has his boots on! That's often a turn 1 move, since turns 2 & 3 you're likely copying Arik's charge up to increase melee damage (or at least that is what I am normally doing).

I copied Arik’s bonus a couple times in my most recent game. Coupled with Siphon Power (Ram) and the cheatable high Ram, I was hitting moderate 7, which was rather sexy

  9. Levi just needs to have Channel changed to Once Per Activation.  Besides that, Scavenger probably probably needs a touch, as Shin as mentioned, along with necropunks...but thats a Resser model

Beyond that...nerf Outcasts? Lol.  We really don't have stuff that appears above the curve, when comparing to basically anything existing in the game (besides the afore mentioned)

  10. Flank Recover? I’d play either Levi, Daw, or Parker. Maybe Von Schill if I’m feeling spicey.

Levi IS the natural take he excels at killing, but Parker projects threat arguably better (run & gun is OP 😍 ) and Daw being about to start roughly at the center line (servant of dark powers push) can wreck face really well, while tarpitting early. Abd guilty are the ultimate “feels bad man” models to force your opponent to kill in evidence

That's what we like to hear! Leylines is such a good one for cheeky lists. I've come up with several variants of "your model gets pushed off the leylines."

So watch me get paired against someone with each access to tech that stops that xD

Dude for realz.  Brightside: Outcast has literally no Laugh Off/roots lol. Torments IS very good about small pushes....
