  1. Continuing my inability to actually post on time.... I did a few things in August and tries a couple other. In honor of new J i painted up a bit more necro verson and put it on a 40mm base: A vernon and welles for a friend: When I was giving that vernon to the friend, their boyfriend told me to paint a rider for him cause he hates painting, so i tried the white highlighting with contrast paint method everyone links people to lately. Whitelines: Finished: (is it bad i kind of prefer the white line version). While I was at it, i was like 'sure i'll paint that rider, but give me back that seamus avatar I painted last year so i can make it a bit more comic' So seamus from last year: Update with a bit of comic lining: That one, i think looks better with the finalized version. So that puts me at 15 + 11 + 8 for 34 stones @Caedrus
  2. From their site: The pack includes: 7 Soulstone markers 5 “sunken ship” Scheme markers 5 “sunken treasure” Strategy Marker 3 Poison flag markers 3 Drowned Corpse markers (Red fluor) 8 “Wave” Activated markers (Smoke trans) 16 Wound markers (8 small, 4 mediums, 4 big) (Red fluor) 3 Fast & Focus”compass” markers (Yellow fluor) 2 Slow markers (Blue fluor) 3 Shielded “shell” stance (Blue fluor) 3 Paralyzed markers 3 injured “broken paddle” markers 1 Stunned “fish” Marker violet 2 staggered 3 confused “Seahorse” markers Obviously you could repurpose some of them, is just still annoying that they haven't seemingly updated to m3e.
  3. Kinda frustrating that they produced a new nightmare marker set... But haven't updated their markers to match m3e? 7 soulstones + paralyzed markers + no distracted? Seems sloppy work as m3e has been out for a while now.
  4. As burning man tends to be connected to portals of any kinds, the teleport nature of misaki's bury / unbury with shadow markers or the 'personal portal' that the thunders have could be the connection point between them. I know it's not connected to the lore as much, but from a mechanical stand point there is a similarity between how misaki plays with how the burning man allegiance plays in ToS. Off topic, but it's part of my reason why I have difficulty getting excited about allegiances other than burning man in ToS, they have all the best toys! (Card manip + teleportation + fire???? who can say no). I also wonder, while the other masters in Thunders should be able to see signs of madness in her... what would / could they do about it? It's been a while since I read all the lore, but how would the greater thunders deal with a crazy leader? Kill em and replace them? or try and minimize how much damage they do / clean up messes / try and project strength? Both of which could be difficult if the burning man change is enough that either the status quo is knocked aside (so there's no time to do things bout it), or it helps her win a significant victory.
  5. Agreed. There's no simple answer, I'll sometimes take dupes (scheme runners) if I need them, but Malifaux has so many great options (even if you stay in Key) I have had times where I only am hiring a single minion, and the rest is enforcers+. So it's just more that I like other options. I also have issues hiring a lot of minions as a lot of my keywords have minions that die to a stiff breeze, and if my opponent can easily 1 shot a minion off the board, I wonder 'why didn't i just take 1 9-10 stone models' or 'if i need to strap on an upgrade to make him survive more, why not take something that didnt need the upgrade as 2 upgrades is a lot of stones' That said there are times I take multiple minions, hucksters / torakage / operatives / gamin / etc have a habit of showing up in lists in pairs either because they're good models, or I expect one to be wiped off the board. Also depends on the pool, if I feel like going for martyrs, a few low cost options to confuse my opponent are always nice.
  6. And here I assumed the true intro would be realizing 1/3 the cards are errataed and they've been using the wrong ones....
  7. Sorry no, I'm not taking promotional copy as rules law. The faq is clear about targeting / changing targets for take the hit. That's an official vetted responce. As it is I read it as 'has take the hit' 'has vengeance' just cause they put it in the same sentence doesn't mean it works together... As anytime I target the gwisin to try and remove the bodyguard ill have to decide if it's worth my while.
  8. As everyone else has said, you're trying to get more than it is made for. Distracted + focused are great examples. As for why not everything is written exactly the same, because english is an imperfect language and the game is written by developers not language scholars. As for the serene countenance example, it could be because it was part of the m3e push when some of the terms were still new, it could be a different dev writing the description, or it could be because people were afraid someone would try and rules lawyer it like this if they didnt write it more specifically.
  9. This evening the app just hangs on the 'loading user data page' keep trying to close it and it just goes back to that page when i reopen it.
  10. Sure. I guess I have difficulty with 'change the mechanic a month before go live, it's easy' mentality as any change really needs to be tested to see if it breaks something else and that can't be done in the time before the book is released (which doesn't count reprint costs / etc that a late change would encompass). In theory I'm more excited to play into this than cadmus as for this I just need to bring a anti marker piece (easy in most of my crews) rather than building the whole crew to mitigate a bunch of parasites.
  11. Sure but we also don't know what else is in store for the rest of the book (as we got what? 3 masters with removal right now which is a lot). If more factions end up looking like explorers with models like jesse/tannenbaum to remove or move generalized markers then I don't see the 'place a marker such that it blocks out any score possiblity a slam dunk. Similarity if you know Hoffman is across the table during terrain setup you can change the terrain so there's less dead spots on the board (similar to how people define forests / etc differently with jedza). But also (and a possibly harsh statement) but I'm not sure the competitive scene is the most important consideration for new cards. As there must be more non-competitive players than competitive. But hey play a bunch of games with him and see how it goes. Right now feels like a lot of knee jerk theorycraft for a book that hasn't fully dropped matched with the static (and harsh large tertain piece) nature of a lot of vassal maps.
  12. Somehow I doubt they'll change the core mechanic a month before the book drops specially as most of the changes would possibly affect the crew build / strategies. Like hazardous... Would that mean Hoffman models ignore it? So now you can slide haxardous onto enemies? Or would you not ignore it and it be an issue for you (similar with concealment, would it just make spots that Melissa can't shoot through without a negative?) That said I'm still in the camp that the possible case of blocking people in with pillars is an edge case that an opponent can tech around with the marker move / remove options in factions.
  13. Yeah I always assumed conflict boxes were the way as wyrd already has a spot for dual keyword boxes.
  14. I'm going to use the same excuse for not loading my images!!!! (kidding, i just totally spaced out, super sorry). I'm also not sure why the concept of taking a picture + loading it to imgur (which takes like 5 minutes) feels like a 'plan my day around it' task..... that's on me. Continued some of my Misaki crew before splitting off to build the june/july explorer releases, got 2 torakage + shang + a crime boss for 24 stones @Caedrus
  15. I like this Jedza with some caveats. I like that she can do some direct damage to her opponents and the summon / dredge / etc piece sounds very fun and effective. I also like that it seems that 'crowd around me to stack chronicles' isn't as needed with this version.... but she gets these changes in exchange for weakening her core chronicle mechanic. Ancient bones is nice, but staggered isn't going to really scare certain opposing crews the way turning heals into damage did in OG, and I feel like I'll spend more time trying to generate life tokens .... which makes me feel like she could play a bit like a condition master, where a portion of every round is 'punching yourself' to generate a few resources. Obvs with a max 3, it's not a lot of work to stay topped off, but it is something to note. Overall pretty happy, and I think it'll take me a bit of time to realize that jedza 'probably should charge that guy' and punch, as I'm so used to playing her as a support piece.
  16. Agreed with dannydb. Vassal is less a full tool for start / finish faux, and more of a way to do the 'models on the table' section of the game. The other pieces (crew building / strats / schemes) are generally easier outside of the tool. That said there's some things that will probably help you a bit that took a bit. To find the crew models go to the objects > models tab and models should be organized by faction / station. If you wanted to record your scheme / strat info in app for your choices go to Objects > Strats and schemes and there should be banner for each strat / scheme there (if you drag it onto the board noone other than you will see what you're choosing till you reveal it). Similarly any scrap / corpses / etc you will need should also be in the objects page (that has most of what you need TBH outside of decks). I tend to build my list + encounter in the app and just grab the models + track wounds / conditions in vassal, but it depends on you, you could always flip cards to determine scenarios and use the strat / scheme markers in the app to do more. I'd also recommend taking a look at some of the vassal tutorial videos (there's one I used a while back, it's not long but it's not a difficult tool when you get down to it). There's also more people doing batreps in vassal so you should be able to pick up tricks from there (like using auras instead of the measuring tapes).
  17. I want the journalist / infamous ringside reporter model sooo bad.
  18. The range on asamis summon is 6 inches. That requires line of sight because that's how 6inch ranges work. So it 'overwrites' the base contact + los core rule with 6 inches and los. And I'm gunna stop responding cause hey, you aint changing your mind so ain't worth responding anymore.
  19. Well the actual rule states: 'Summoned models are placed into base contact and within LoS of the model whose action or ability summoned them unless the effect states otherwise.' In this case I'd say 1) Toni grants the global ability to summon to her keyword 2) the ability states where the summoned model would be summoned into (here base contact with a scheme marker) which will trump the LoS / Base contact with Toni rule. I have difficulty using the summon into LoS unless stated otherwise rule' to say this has to be in LoS of Toni, when the full rule states 'base contact and LoS unless overruled' which is literally overruled in nearly every situation as very few summoners summon in base contact. So I still read it as 'sure toni has the ability, but it's being used by another model + theres location rules on it, so use those instead of the core'
  20. It's Ironsides' ability though, and the ability is what is doing the summoning, not the Interact action. I'd much prefer it if you didn't need LoS for it though, so I hope I'm wrong or that Wyrd changes it. Does this mean that dreamer can't summon at all because they summon buried? I say since it's a global ability that allows another model to summon (since it says that model not Toni) next to a scheme marker so that model takes presidence/determines the rules.
  21. Is there a date for the outcast starter box to get in the app? I just picked mine up yesterday at my gameshop so it'd be nice to start building crews with em.
  22. I would say yes to emergency mode and no to code red as code red specifies a number, while stand together just says 'treated as under 1/2' tho I'm sure someone will try and use rj rules to say 'i can treat it as any number under 1/2 so I'm treating it as 1 wound' but that doesn't feel like the intent. Seems to be more of a 'your life is either under 1/2 or there's a scheme marker nearby to make life based abilities work' rather than 'choose a number under 1/2 and that's what your life is treated as, and oh look my under 1/2 abilities proc'
  23. Oh true, I always forget there's no nesting in M3e, so you can still get a place + focus + made to kill hit off, which is pretty nice.
  24. Not being able to pick the order is kind of annoying, but if you could choose the order, I'd hire undergrads and do undead first (to get focus) and then the place for constructs to get made to kill to fire and use the focus. Seems a bit of a cheese.
  25. Light wont damage your own stuff if they're transmortis (as they can choose to fail and heal 1, and with a 3 inch range, it's a pretty big heal aura. Additionally if you put down scheme markers you could get 3 effects from study (if they're already undead constructs like most of his minions, wont work as well on anna).
