  1. First batch of varnished models since October... Still can't figure out how to make TMM look interesting without it getting blotchy, so I ended up doing the old base, wash, drybrush method again on those Ancient Constructs. Ah well, next model, next attempt.
  2. Hey all! I had a 6 month painting break - I think my attempt to stick to one keyword until it's finished burned me out a bit, so /shrug. Anyway, picked up the brush again, and these two folks are almost finished (really just some last tiny touch-ups plus varnish missing): I may start some Bygone or Forgotten models next...
  3. You are really making me want to buy a new Rasputina box (because I only have the M2E models) and start all over again... Wonderful minis, really!
  4. September is going to be challenging for me - I'll be on vacation a little more than a week from now, and until then, work will remain quite hellish, and I also have to do my taxes this weekend. So if I'm lucky, I have a realistic chance to get one mini done, so it will have to be a master. Top options are Tara 2, Viks 2, Colette 2 and Parker (1 or 2, both are primed and ready). Any suggestions or thoughts?
  5. @Diddick - thank you - those skintones are just brilliant, great job making them look alive AND at the same time like they just left the mine! @Moinetbeard - how you used colored ligthing to illuminate the shadows on your Scion is absolutely wonderful, while from above it has this perfect moonlit vibe. Suuuuper atmospheric, absolutely love it! (Same on your Lynch2) @Gheist - love that Paper Tiger! And super cool idea for its base, half jungle, half library! @MestreGuilderius - I'm going to need to copy that red recipe you used for your BB Shamans - I always end up going orange, really cool how you kept it cool! This is my output for August (well, I just varnished Talos 10 minutes ago, but finished painting last week already, so I'll include him):
  6. Productive month so far - 38 SS done (Tara, Karina, Scion + 3x Void Wretches), and finishing Ol' Rusty Chonk back there is my plan for today.
  7. Thank you - the credit belongs to my wife, though: I initially only painted the fluo orange and could not figure out why it didn't read as some kind of dimensional rift. So she came up with the idea that the colors need to bleed differently in both directions to make the transition blurry and sufficiently otherworldly.
  8. That skintone and hair is just gorgeous... But seeing this just now: Did you give her a different sword than the original sculpt?
  9. Middle of the month, time for a progress update: There was some barking and hissing coming from the great Nothingness, and all of a sudden some three-legged buggers and their teeth started emerging from the Void, accompanying the Scion and preparing the advent of the other children of Obliteration: Not sure yet what's next - maybe Tara herself? If only I had a convincing idea for her base, stupid tippy-toe model needs some scenery!
  10. Oh nice, this looks quite close to the Burgundy range from Two Thin Coats, actually, great fit.
  11. Creepy and very cool gargoyles! These make me reconsider getting Nekima core set despite already having a fully painted Lilith crew, just to try a similar scheme... Do you happen to have an image with brighter lights, to take a closer look at how they appear in daylight? Or would that ruin the magic?
  12. Perfect cue - was about to wonder if I should post this fella that I finished yesterday to the July thread still, so great save! After mulling over this for about a month and lots of experimenting on some greenstuff structures with various combinations of basecoat, pre-shading and colorshift to chose, I decided that I want the GSW colorshift "Darth Blue" to be the gimmick throughout the full Tara crew - it looks appropriately space-y to signify void, I think, and I'm happy enough with the result. So yeah, that's also my most likely plan for the rest of the month: Dig into this lovely band of time-bending misfits: And if I get bored of cosmic horror vibes, I can still take care of the remaining Woes (Dorian, Iggy, Carver) or my fully primed and equally fully unpainted crew of Bandits. Oh, and I may have done a thing and built an Airtable gallery for my painted Malifaux minis, for no reason other than liking neat things. See y'all later in the month!
  13. Oh that's cool! Love when lore/story and color scheme come together this way!
  14. I love the skin color on these - really nice alternative to the usual blue-grey or pinkish-grey types! Very cool.
  15. @Hawkoon - Alright, thanks! This means I used my mulligan in May, another one in June and because I painted 24 SS in July and only pledged for Henchman (11), I can use the July score to buy back that one mulligan, correct? Also: Not that it matters, as I only started in March anyway. Anyway, thank you - back to my brushes!
