  1. Hey there, The Runaway and Pup are definitely the most complex to play. To answer your first question: they do not share Movement, but do share Coins (so Actions are essentially split between the two). To Move the Pup, you have to put a Coin on the Pup's Move Action on its own Pup card. To Move the Runaway, you'd place a Coin on her own Move value. We are updating the rulebook so it includes some additional clarity, as well as a detailed FAQ, which will include some additional information on how the Runaway and Pup work. While the updated rulebook isn't out yet, it will soon be available as a free download on our website, or you can purchase it on our website once it is available. In the meantime, I'll post some of the questions and answers in the updated rulebook. Hopefully they help clear things up! ---- What effects affect both the Runaway and the Pup? The Runaway shares everything with the Pup, including General Action values and Haint Effects. Anything that affects her will also affect the Pup*. Remember, the Runaway and Pup can only be affected once by a single effect, even if it would harm or affect both the Pup and the Runaway. This includes losing Humanity, being forced to Move, and being targeted by area effects. *The Pup cannot be Haunted, so any Haint Effects, Humanity loss, or other effects a Haunted Effect would have are negated if the Pup would be Haunted. Does the Runaway suffer from Haint Effects based off the Pup’s positioning? Would the Runaway lose 2 Humanity if she has Spooked (•) and the Pup ends a turn within Range 2 of the Turned Faces? Yes, the Runaway always considers the Pup’s position when resolving “you” effects. Since “you” (referring to the Runaway or the Pup) ended within Range 2 of the Turned Faces, the Humanity loss from Spooked (•) would trigger. Can the Pup discard Rummage Tokens? No, the Pup cannot discard Rummage Tokens; the Runaway must be the one to discard them. Any Rummage Tokens the Pup has must still be traded or given to another Vagrant before they can be used. Does the Pup count as a Vagrant for effects that rely on Vagrant numbers (like seeing how many Vagrants are in the same train car or having all Vagrants reach a certain location to win)? No. In circumstances that specifically denote Vagrants, only the Runaway is considered the “Vagrant”; the Pup is not. Does the Pup benefit from any Junk the Runaway has that offers passive benefits, like the Twirling Compass or Fishing Line? Yes, the Pup receives these benefits as well. ---- Hope those help!
  2. Hey Wyrdos! Waldo’s decided to pick up scrapbooking as a new year’s hobby. He’s already got the shutterbug, snapping pictures of the office, all of us, and whatever else draws his attention. While we’re almost sure Waldo’s photographs of cutlery, office spiders, and cardboard boxes won’t win him any awards, we can’t say the same for this enterprising individual… Equipped with some seriously unusual technology, the Nightcrawler Network assists the Guild in collecting information on subjects of interest. Important stuff goes to the Guard. Anything left gets sold to the Tattler to fill up its gossip column. The Nightcrawler Network is a model that embodies the concept of “planning is everything.” Stealth and Extended Reach protects them from enemy Attacks. Combining that with Walk the Line and a suited Sabotage Their Plans means that a Nightcrawler Network Activation can score or deny a point or two. The most exciting thing on the Nightcrawler Network’s card is its Spy Network Ability. This allows him to draw range and LoS from friendly Camerabots. This means that his Actions can reach a far wider span of the board than their ranges indicate. Spy Network also works on Aura Abilities, meaning that each new Camerabot on the board is another Extended Reach bubble for your opponent to deal with. Summoning Camerabots has astounding range with The Network as the Action targets a terrain piece. This means that you can Summon a Camerabot on the other side of a building or forest. In Guard In Guard, the Nightcrawler Network is a much-needed tech piece. He can be a solo model counter scheming with a combination of Expert Getaway and Sabotage their Plans, or support the center with Summoned Camerabots with Extended Reach. Network Cable also helps set up Adversary (Guard) on enemy models and synergizes with Pursue. In Journalist In Journalist, his role is similar, with a higher damage threat. If the Nightcrawler Network draws LoS from a friendly Camerabot it gains a +Mask to its Network Cable Action, giving it built-in Slander Triggers. Between Slander and Chasing a Story, the Nightcrawler Network could hit for 5 damage and Distracted +1. Even if he doesn’t do 5 damage, the Distracted is useful for either Nellie Cochrane title, by either procing Slow News Day to give Stunned or to set up a False Reality Place effect. The Network is only one man, despite his claims to the contrary. How does he manage to be in so many places at once? Extremely inconspicuously-placed Camerabots artificially extend the Network’s reach. Or maybe they’re there to distract you from the cameras you aren’t supposed to see… Camerabots are noteworthy as they’re the 2nd Mv 0 model in the game. But that doesn’t mean they’re stuck in one place! From the Shadows lets them appear where they want on the board. After deployment, Get a Better Angle allows them to Place next to friendly Guard or Journalist models. Combining that with Spy Network means that a Camerabot can teleport across the board as long as there’s another Camerabot to draw LoS from. In Guard In Guard Camerabots edge out Guild Hounds as the cheapest model Dashel can Summon with Call in Reinforcements. Once they’re on the board, Flash Photography may have a low stat but the possibility of Distracted, Staggered and Adversary (Guard) is worth the attempt. Smile! You’re on Camera is the standout Action here. Being able to tell friendly Guard models to Interact is helpful in some of the new Interact heavy Strategies like Stuff the Ballots and is an innovative way to get around their Insignificant Ability. In Journalist Camerabots are an economical way to get more of what Journalist wants to see on the board. Like with the Nightcrawler Network, giving Distracted is always helpful, and Flash Photography is a great way to put out conditions in a Journalist crew. They can be seen as a budget Phiona Gage, protecting models with Extended Reach instead of Propaganda Piece. The biggest difference here in Journalist is the usefulness of Smile! You’re on Camera. Commanding friendly models to Interact for Strategies and Schemes is always useful, but Journalist makes a strong case for targeting enemy models instead of friendly models. Being able to command enemy models to Interact gives Journalist more opportunities for Chasing a Story and Breaking News to proc. Camerabots also have Exclusive Interview which means if you position correctly, they can have enemies Drop friendly Scheme Markers for Schemes such as Ensnare. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. How will you be including the Network into your Guild crews? Remember: if you’re feeling snapshotty, post your Wyrd Games-related photos with the #PlayWyrd tag. We love to see what our community creates!
  3. Hey Brent, Sorry to hear that you got stuck on this Scenario! It appears that you may have missed a very important line on the Rewards for both of those Rituals (Rattling, Unraveling and All Consuming Light). Spoiler territory for those who haven't gotten this far yet: Both rewards begin with "The Lightkeeper Breaks." - if you performed both Rituals, you would then reach Event 3 on the Break track, which changes his Mood, which means you can continue the fight. If I misunderstood the issue you ran into, let me know!
  4. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo took it upon himself to make a list of things he’d like to see around the office. While some of them were feasible (more cupcakes in the pantry), others were a bit too much (a moat around the office filled with alligators). While we negotiate with our imp about his demands, we’ve got some updates for Malifaux in the form of our FAQ and Errata. Had some questions that needed answering? Our team has taken your most burning inquiries and provided clarity! Head on over to the FAQ section to get official answers about situations, effects, and other things that might have caused you to scratch your head during Malifaux games. To find the most recent answered questions, just look out for the asterisks (*) throughout the document. The latest Malifaux Errata brings balance updates to your crews and Masters. You can see the entire list of changes here. These are official updates, and will be reflected in the Malifaux Crew Builder app very soon. As always, you can find the updated cards for free on our Dropbox, or you can purchase printed versions of them on WarGameVault within a few days. And yes, despite it being the middle of December, the latest errata is coined for November 2022. We had wanted to get these cards out sooner, but Waldo’s alligators got ahold of the fixes and made a mess of things. Luckily, no gators were hurt in the making or delivering of these stat card adjustments. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. While we start figuring out how to dig a moat, pore over these changes, dust off your models, and get some games in!
  5. A Little Rhythm is written as intended. On a success, the target gains 2 Humanity. Then, for each Coin that you put on the Skill, you may Move the target 1 space away from you. The more Coins you put in, the more you can push the target away. The Skill rolls 2 Bones to increase your odds of success, even with just 1 Coin placed on the Skill.

  7. This week, Waldo helped us get into the wintery spirit by stealing a snow machine. He’s been cackling with glee for hours, creating snow banks and filling the air with flurries. While we break out the shovels and wait for Waldo to come back inside, let’s take a look at the upcoming Black Friday and Birthday Event! If you’re unfamiliar with our annual Black Friday Event (and the anniversary of our birthday!), we at Wyrd like to spend this time of year offering some of our limited, hard-to-find, and exclusive miniatures. 8. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo got on a bit of a health kick, bringing in baskets of fruit to juice (he said chewing would be too much work). Unfortunately, he started with lemons. His face puckered up something fierce, and now we’ve got an orchard’s worth of fruit sitting around… along with some surprises! We’ve got a bunch of new a-peeling alt models heading your way this Black Friday (and our birthday). Whether you’re looking to expand a crew or just pick up a mini to paint, alts are great ways to add some new zest to your table or cabinets! First up is Winona Finnigan, a dashing reimagination of Malifaux’s most eligible airship bachelor. When she’s not the center of attention at social events, Ms. Finnigan lends her wealth and style to the Explorer’s Society. Next is Ulric Volkov, a bureaucrat of distinguished (and sometimes questionable) service to the Guild. Sharp-eyed fans will recognize him from Through the Breach’s Above the Law expansion. He debuts in Malifaux as an alt Guild Steward! You’ll be able to get these two fantastic alt characters during our annual Black Friday and Birthday Sale, which starts Novemberr 23rd and ends on December 5th. That’s all for now Wyrdos, but we’ve got a lot more in store for you. Check back next week to find out everything we’ll have available during the event!
  9. Hey Wyrdos, Our Play Wyrd Discord community has grown considerably since we started it back in July. Conversation is buzzing about Malifaux crewbuilding, Through the Breach adventures, Vagrantsong experiences, and more. And if you're already a part of the conversation there, thank you for hanging out with us there! With that, we could use some help from our community to ensure that we keep it a positive and respectful place. If you are interested in becoming a Play Wyrd Discord Mod, first... make sure you're a part of our Discord community, which can be found here. Then, if you'd like to help us out as a Mod, fill out the form here. If we think you're a good fit, we'll reach out. Thanks!
  10. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo got a card from his nana. It was decorated with all sorts of impish symbols and glyphs (we couldn’t read them, but hearts did feature prominently), and came with a lovingly wrapped basket of cookies. While we figure out if Waldo’s nana made these treats safe for human consumption, let’s take a look at the newest grandma in Malifaux: Ava led the Aua for millennia until her granddaughter, Tiri, took up that burden. While we won’t get into Auan funerary practices here, things transpired that demanded the elder Aua receive a new body. Reborn as the Iron Matron, Ava is ready to lend another thousand years of guidance to her people. On the table, the Iron Matron provides the Explorer’s Society (and the Bygone keyword) with a powerful Henchman. She’s a phenomenal protector who can put out some lethal damage of her own, carving up enemies and clearing the way for her people to advance. To find out more about the Bygone keyword, make sure to check out the preview video by T&G Productions! In case you missed it, we have a lot of great content available for this spookiest of seasons! From now until November 8th, download or print the Vasyl coloring page, color it with your preferred tools of the trade (digital, crayons, markers, pencils - whatever you want!) and post it on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram with the #rottenharvest hashtag so we can find your entry. Make sure that we can see the post so you qualify. We’ve also got content for Malifaux and Through the Breach. Dare you mingle with the masked in The Malifaux Masquerade? Perhaps your Fated should pay Mr. Mazzanti and his Costume Shoppe a visit? Last but not least, we still have our Iggy special promotion going on. If you spend $75 or more at your local game store from now until October 31st, you can fill out the form on our promotions page to receive this Alt Iggy! Just remember to keep your receipt! Submitted your form and haven’t heard anything? Don’t worry! We only contact you if there’s an issue, so you should have your Iggy in no time. We’ve also extended our Madness in Malifaux digital offer until the end of January; when the book becomes available and you purchase a physical copy, you’ll get a PDF version for free! That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Have a wonderfully spooky week, and we’ll see you next Wednesday!
  11. Hey Wyrdos, Many of you have been patiently awaiting the third reprint of Vagrantsong. Well, we have some excellent news, just in time for Halloween! Vagrantsong is now back in stock on our webstore! If you are waiting for Vagrantsong to hit your local game store shelves – the wait is almost over. Many, many copies have already been sent off to stores, and should be arriving very soon. Make sure to reach out to your local game store to pre-order a copy today! The Bonus Scenario is also available exclusively on our webstore. You can find it on the webstore now! The Séance Scenario is coming soon, and will be available at both local game stores and our webstore when it arrives. Are you headed to PAX Unplugged? Make sure to stop by our booth to get yourself the DC Plushie, which will come with 3 brand new Junk cards! If you can’t make it this year, don’t worry! Our favorite little demon cat will be hitting local game stores (and our webstore) this December.
  12. Hey Wyrdos! This week, we couldn’t find Waldo anywhere. It’s highly unusual for our precocious imp to miss a Wednesday, so everyone set out to try and find where he’d hidden himself. The only things we found were a sticky note on the fridge (and all of our lunches missing). It read: “Saw W.E., not coming back ‘til next week.” What could have spooked him so bad? Well, there are legends that tell of a creature that lurks in the Knotwoods. It hunts in spaces where none but the oldest Mimics walk. Listen… can you hear the wet blinking of eyes? White Eyes is the closest thing to a horror story the Neverborn have. As a member of the Returned keyword, this ancient crookskin will be able to join Kastore and his brood (or any other Neverborn crew brave enough to take him). We can’t leave Fated from Through the Breach without some terror in their hearts. Check out this free Augment below (or click on this link) to include White Eyes in your games. He’s a great adversary, and an even better way to explore some of the deeper parts of Malifaux’s most frightening places. Want to learn more about Kastore? Check out Malifaux University’s reveal covering some of the Returned keyword in the link below! It’s a great way to get insights into how this dual faction Master will play. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. Hopefully Waldo shakes his fear of White Eyes in time for next Wednesday! If you’re looking for more Madness in Malifaux spoilers, we suggest tuning in to Danger Planet in the next few days. Their reveal is sure to reel you in…
  13. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo decided to pick up a new hobby. Of course, he decided on playing the trumpet. While we all hunker down and try to deal with headaches caused by a very tone-deaf imp’s unique take on jazz, let’s take a look at another source of trumpeting coming to The Other Side! The War Elephant serves as the Three Kingdoms’ Titan, a living battering ram that can reduce the heavy armor of other Allegiances to scrap. Handlers spend time bonding with these elephants to ensure crew and beast can act as a single potent unit in whatever army they’re serving. The sculpt does justice to these pachyderms, as you can see. If you were fortunate enough to have participated in our Titan Smash event at Gen Con, you know how great it looks in person! But appearances aren’t everything… War Elephants excel when engaged; if you can manage to get them into engagement range with 3 or more Fireteams, the War Elephant generates free Attack Actions (at a potent Strength 5) while dishing out Shaken Tokens to enemies and Inspired Tokens to itself. When in Glory, a War Elephant becomes a figurehead that grants Inspired Tokens to allies and Shaken Tokens to enemies. It also retains its deadliness, of course! You’ll be able to see the War Elephant and the rest of the Three Kingdoms forces (as well as the invading Kimon armies) in the new book, Beyond The Other Side, releasing in Q1 of next year. And as a bonus little treat, here is a version of the cover that you can use as a desktop wallpaper. Enjoy! That’s all for now, Wyrdos. If we can endure Waldo’s awful showtune renditions, we’ll be back with more great stuff next week!
  14. Hey Wyrdos! This week, we discovered a strange hidden passage in the office. It was dark, scary, and covered with cobwebs (as all good hidden passages are). We were all debating who would go in first when Waldo rolled his eyes and sauntered off into the gloom. Our little imp came back carrying a stick-and-bindle, lookin’ mighty world-weary, with a pair of glowing blue cat’s eyes following him. Wouldn’t have been too weird for the Wyrd office… but then that cat introduced himself. Yeah, I’m a cat with horns. Piercing blue eyes of fire. Immaculate whiskers. I’m gorgeous, thanks for noticing. Are we over that hump now or are we going to keep it weird around here? No, I’m not going to tell you how I got back there in that hole. But you do look like you need some help ‘round these parts. And that, my friend, I’ll happily oblige… For a price, of course, but who’s counting? I’ve helped a lot of people in my time. It wasn’t too long ago that I lent a helping paw to some vagrants on a haunted train. Maybe you heard a song or two about it. Looks like it might be time to hop aboard once more, only this time I’ll be bringing more than some doodads. It’ll be yours truly that watches over your shoulders. That’s right. You’ll be able to get your very own me, in plush form. It’s 10 inches tall and just about as soft as I am. Plus, I brought some exclusive Junk cards for your Vagrants for when they’re finding difficulty aboard the Silver Ferryman. I know, I’m very generous. Let’s take a look at what I’ve got to offer this time, shall we? If you’re heading to PAX Unplugged this year (December 2nd through December 4th), you’ll be able to take this handsome plush (and Junk cards) home with you. Missed that stop in Philadelphia? Don’t sweat it - they’ll be available in the first part of 2023 at local game stores. Heard that a lot of you folks are interested in climbing aboard the Ferryman yourselves for the first time. You’re in luck. I think I’ll be able to scrounge up a few extra tickets. Got a third printing of Vagrantsong that should be hitting the shelves of your local game store mid-October, so keep those eyes peeled. Wouldn’t want to miss the train this time, would we? Lotta talk about these three sisters, the Foxes. Said they can summon spirits and talk to the dead. Pretty weird if you ask me. But I’ve seen ‘em, and let me tell you… they’re not the kind you mess with lightly. Better come prepared for this bout. Interested in trying to save their souls? The Fox Sisters Scenario will be back by the end of the year – and that’s right, just like the core game, you’ll be able to find this single Scenario expansion at local game stores. Well, I best be getting on. Lots of coins to gather, lots of advice to give. But if you ever need me, I’m just a camp phase away… That’s all for this week, Wyrdos! We’re going to try and find a cat bed suitable for our new friend, so we’ll see you next Wednesday! Soon.
  15. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we’re getting into the spooky spirit by getting our Halloween costumes ready a little early. Waldo has dressed up as a door-to-door insurance salesman (terrifying) and is awfully convincing. So, while we try to figure out what we are going to do with our new “portal to the underworld” home insurance, let’s take a look at the latest Local Game Store Promotion, which is starting NOW! That’s right! If you spend $75 or more at your local game store from today (September 7th) to October 31st, fill out the form on our promotions page to receive this awesome Alt Iggy! Just remember to keep your receipt! If you don’t have a local game store but really want this Iggy-in-a-dragon-costume model, don’t worry! We’ll have details about his availability later this year. See you then!
  16. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we’re keeping it short and sweet so we can get right to the good stuff: the announcement video for the next Malifaux expansion. Enjoy. That’s right. The next expansion is called Madness of Malifaux, and will include a continuation of the Malifaux Burns story, 6 new Masters (each of which will have two versions to play right out the gate), and a ton of new playable characters to add to your existing or new crews. Madness of Malifaux comes out this October. Pre-order now at your local game store! We’ll have a lot more details between now and then, so stay tuned!
  17. Hey Wyrdos! This week, Waldo decided to start painting again. He got out all his brushes, his paint, and even had his little water pot all nicely organized. We thought we’d finally get some peace and quiet, until we saw Waldo happily painting what looked to be a box full of skulls. While we try and figure out where he got them, let’s take a look at this year’s Rotten Harvest models! Lady Justice and the Marshal keyword have donned new attire this year! The first box, Dia de los Muertos, features everything you’ll need get a solid start with, or expand, the Marshal keyword: Lady Justice becomes La Catrina, an elegantly dressed skeleton traditionally seen in Day of the Dead celebrations. Santa Muerte replaces the Judge as the one giving the dead eternal rest. The Alebrije tags along instead of the Scales of Justice, inspired by Mexican folk art. No crew would be complete without a few Calacas! Their carved coffins and grinning skulls take the place of Death Marshals. The La Noche de Duelo box is the second Rotten Harvest offering this year, and offers a great way to continue the Dia de los Muertos theme: The Lone Marshal becomes Charro, a dashing gentleman atop a decorated horse. Accompanying him are two Cucuruchos, who count as Exorcists. They’ll bring penance to all who try to escape it! Check out the trailer (and a preview of the unique card style) for these characters! As a reminder, these Rotten Harvest boxes will only be available to order from September through October through your local game store. Make sure to pre-order them today- as always, these Rotten Harvest models are limited release. Once they’re gone, they’re gone forever!
  18. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we put Waldo in a room with an unplugged computer, a stuffed animal, and a few broken sprues so that we could finally get some work done. After all, Gen Con is just around the corner, and there’s a lot that goes into The Best Four Days in Gaming™. Who knows, maybe he’ll even be productive while we’re gone. Without further ado, let’s do one last big reveal before we hop on a plane and head to Indianapolis. There’s been a ton of speculation since we revealed the Dabblers back in April. Well, now it’s time for us to reveal the rest of their keyword, Witness, which is led by none other than Mr. Puzzle Box himself: Damian Ravencroft. Damian’s curiosity is his greatest asset, but what separates him from the common investigator or scientist is his inability to let go. Once a puzzle is before him, he can’t stop until it is solved. No cost, not even losing himself, is too high a price to pay for secrets. And, oh, what sweet mysteries Malifaux has. So many stones left unturned. So many doors left unopened… In a fairly drastic simplification in comparison to how they play on the table, Damian and his Witness keyword utilize a set of cards called the Configuration, and based on what cards are in there, certain Witness characters may receive benefits, such as automatically gaining suits or previously unattainable Triggers. But who else shall bear Witness (as in… who else is in this keyword)? Let’s dive right in: Damian’s totem, the Puzzle Box, shouldn’t surprise anyone who read the story from First Edition. Joining Ravencroft in his Core Box is Bellaventine Thorpe (who you might also recognize), and 3 Dabblers (mages who haven’t quite found their specialty yet). In Invisible Ink, a supplemental Witness box, you’ll gain control of Leger de Main (a street performer who uses his sleight of hand for his own benefit), and Marco Bonatti (a mage-turned-construct who utilizes ink to get into messy situations). One puzzle that Damian has yet to solve of Lohith Bhatt. Luckily, you won’t have to wait for Ravencroft to crack the code (or stone) before you can pick up the Living Soulstone box, which includes both Lohith and 3 Soulstone Gamin. https://youtu.be/LiikHUlIrsc Want to figure out how this Witness crew plays before you pick them up? 19. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo built a model train set from one side of the office to the other. He steamed pretty occupied, but we didn’t want to cross him. Clearly, he had a one track mind and didn’t want to lose his train of thought. Either that or he needed to get his engin-ears cleaned. Upon further inspection, the boxcars all had bite marks in them – they must have been chew chew trains. Realizing that there wasn’t much that we could do, we just kept calm and carriaged on. So, while we try to keep a freight face, let’s take a look at something spooky arriving soon: the Fox Sisters! The vast majority of the Haints in Vagrantsong are inspired by real American ghost stories, stretching from Maco Joe’s lights to the Bookbinder’s graveyard and everything… In Between. When designing the latest Scenario for our spooky boss battler, we decided to look at where gathering ‘round the table to speak to the dead all started: the Fox Sisters. As three of the most popular and influential mediums in America’s history, the Fox Sisters convinced the world that they could communicate with spirits by using “rappings”, a type of clicking with their toes against the floor, amongst other clever techniques. Despite later admitting that their act was a hoax, in Vagrantsong, these three sisters (and their actions) are very real. Players who push themselves to discover what is beyond the unknown might find that their path toward escaping the Silver Ferryman is blocked, and the only way through is by solving the challenging riddle that the Fox Sisters put in front of them. The Fox Sisters Scenario will include new Vagrant Exclusive Skills to obtain, new Rituals to complete, and a devastating tug-of-war for one’s Humanity. While we won’t spoil everything that comes with the Fox Sisters, one new mechanic (and its associated component) will make tracking turns just a little bit easier throughout the campaign: Portrait cards. While these cards will be used for a specific reason during this Scenario (and you’ll just have to play it in order to find out!), in every other Scenario, players will be able to use these to track who has taken their turn by simply flipping over their Portrait card once their turn is over. Problem solved. You’ll be able to get your hands on the Fox Sisters Scenario at Gen Con, during our annual Gen Con online sale, and after the convention on our website (while supplies last) for just $13. And believe it or not, Gen Con’s just a few weeks away, so the wait won’t be long. We know that Vagrantsong has been tough to come by in the last few months, but that problem will be solved in August. Not only will we have copies available during Gen Con, but the third print of our spooky boss battler will cover enough ground to have the Silver Ferryman stop by your local game store shortly thereafter. The Fox Sisters are just the beginning of how we are working on expanding the ghostly world of Vagrantsong. Keep checking back on future Waldo’s Weeklies to hear about the upcoming expansion!
  20. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo branched out on a limb and decided to save a little bit of green by going foraging in the forest. We were really rooting for him. You wood think he’d know what to look for, but we were stumped by the berried treasure he found instead. Seemed pretty seedy to us, so we suggested to leaf it alone. Fortunately, there wasn’t mushroom in his bag, so he couldn’t retreeve it. In a nutshell, the trip was too over-elming, so he got spored pretty quickly. So, while we try to think of more acorny jokes, let’s take a look at what he stumpled across: Gwyll! Dryads were once guardians of Malifaux’s forests and wild places. Each tended groves and cultivated gardens or became Autumn Knights: eternal servants of Queen Titania. Those few who did not remained in their meadows and orchards. When the Grave Spirit entered Malifaux, Dryads watched the Autumn Court become a thing of undeath. Centuries of work rotted away in moments. Survivors fled the necromantic surge. One of their kind, Gwyll, endured the irreparable trauma. He watched his kin waste away, giving themselves to the loam rather than live to see what Titania had done to their lands. Waters of regret fed bitter seeds. These blossomed into flowers of hate. Gwyll made his lair in the far corners of the Knotwoods, where most Neverborn would not dare to venture, hiding from Titania and plotting revenge. Much time passed before he received visitors. The newcomers were strange... They asked the Dryad to balance the scales of life and death for one of their greatest champions. Trauma-worms wriggled inside Gwyll’s head, and he offered a deal. If the champion was an enemy of the Autumn Queen, the Dryad would keep this champion alive. So was the bargain made, and so this ancient warrior endured for centuries under Gwyll’s watch. Who could Gwyll be protecting? You’ll have to wait and see!
  21. Make sure to read the Special Rules section for the Haints for the Scenarios, as well - they might have crucial information as to how the Scenario works. Below are the Special Rules text for the Deadringers in Suffocation Station. SPOILERS if you have not reached that Scenario yet! Any time a Lost Soul would gain Humanity, instead Move it up to that many spaces in any direction. If this Move would have a Lost Soul end in the same space as a Box, remove the Box.
  22. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo put in a request to go on another vacation. A boulder idea than relaxing at the beach, but for the crater good of his well-being, of quartz we let him go. Wouldn’t want him to hit rock bottom. His spelunking trip was immediately off to a rocky start, though – he was petrified that he might take his time off for granite. So, while we keep our coal before he comes back, we did some cave exploring of our own to find the latest reveal: Lohith. The elements surrounding Lohith Bhatt were like stalking nightmares. After these spirits, these demons, these gamin tried to kill his daughter, he came to Malifaux for help. Instead of finding guidance, Lohith Bhatt found selfish curiosity, as though the problems that ailed him were nothing more than an academic experiment. Despite warning signs, Lohith trusted Sandeep Desai’s winter witch, and journeyed alongside the pair to a cave to the north in search for answers. Perhaps they would be found in the unknown corners of this strange, magical place. No. There would be only betrayal in the dark. He would be torn from his family, left to calcify in frozen stone until he and his nightmares were forgotten, consumed by a watchful force in the distant rock. That is, until someone else ventured into that gloomy, cavernous quiet he was forced to call home. Equally curious but not as cruel, this strange visitor had endured pain that had rivaled his own. This man would not become Lohith’s savior; it was too late for that. But answers… and vengeance… those he could provide. That would be enough. Who is this unnamed person who unearthed Lohith? You’ll have to wait to see in upcoming Waldo’s Weeklies to find out! We’ll see you then!
  23. And this time, we're also showing off the Story of Raijin's awesome sculpt:
  24. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo decided that he wanted to learn how to play an instrument. Before we got too excited that the office was going to be filled with music, he had already set up a drumkit. All it took was one “ba-dum-tch” and we knew our productivity was in treble. After snaring a few beats, we asked him to only play after hours – or there would be re-percussions. His response was a little... drum-atic. So, while we pine for cymbal-er days, let’s reveal another upcoming character for Malifaux: the Story of Raijin! Somewhere in the Library of All Things, amongst a hoard of objects and rare books, a small drum rumbled like a thunderstorm. There it waited for someone to stumble upon it, to listen to its rhythm, and to learn of its fable; a story of two brothers, one a lord of wind and the other a lord of storms. One chose to protect their emperor with thunder and lightning while the other refused. This defiant decision split the brothers, and a war in the sky echoed out for centuries. While it might just be a folktale passed down from generation to generation, stories like these have power. And one librarian has learned to harness those tales and treat the characters from within like protective guardians, pulling words from paper – or in this case, kanji from a drumhead. Let’s take a look at how the Story of Raijin will send thunder rolling across the Malifaux skies: That’s the end of this Waldo’s Weekly, but just the start of this story! We’ll have more reveals and sneak peeks soon. See you then!
