Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo seemed more nervous and on-edge than his usual self. We found him pacing and decorating the office with skulls, chains, and birch branches. We knew something was really wrong when he started performing random acts of kindness and tallying them up on a sheet of paper. As it turns out, one of his distant cousins is coming to visit. So while we take some time to appreciate Waldo doing nice things for once, let’s take a look at who we can expect to arrive at the office soon by releasing a free Through the Breach Augment! Have your Fated characters been particularly naughty this year? Add a little festive cheer (or fear) into your Through the Breach campaign by introducing them to Krampus! In the world of Malifaux, Krampus is a Nephilim who has turned his back on his kind to become an agent of December. He desires nothing more than to feed on the souls of the wicked (which could explain why Waldo is terrified of his visit). This week, Waldo thought that we should change the scenery of the office and hold our meetings out on the ocean. When we tried to explain to him that there’s no way for us to talk underwater, he told us to use speech bubbles. So while we do our best to forget that joke ever happened, let’s take a look at two more characters that are joining the Explorer’s Society: Dr. Beebe and his trusty bathysphere, Calypso! Dr. Ogden Beebe, an experienced scientist and engineer, once had the wild idea of building an underwater exploration device that could be piloted by someone inside to finally unravel the many mysteries that lie beneath the surface of the oceans. After being laughed at and ridiculed by his peers, he built it, and his illustrious new Captain caught notice and signed him to join her crew. On the table, Dr. Beebe will do everything that he can to keep his larger-than-life metal companion running like a well-oiled machine. And when Bad Things Happen, he can take some time (and a Scrap Marker) to rebuild his treasured creation. By itself, Calypso is an empty vessel. A tin can, if you will. But any friendly model (of Size 2 or less) can Climb Aboard to make this underwater exploration vessel an All-Terrain vehicle that’s ready to cause some serious havoc to any opponent. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo came up with the crazy idea of starting his own business. Skydiving for the age impaired is certainly an idea, but as soon as we started with the paperwork (namely the insurance – lots and lots of insurance), he zoned out and built himself a papercraft hut with the unsigned forms. So, while he does whatever it is that he does in Fort Waldo, let’s take a look at an upcoming Master for the Explorer’s Society, Anya Lycarayen! Condor Rails has provided transportation for just about every person and company in Malifaux at some point or another. Ever since her father, Aucaman, disappeared, Anya has directed (and vastly expanded) the already booming rail conglomerate. Anya plays on the table just like she does in any important business meeting: brutal and without mercy. Paired with Blade Rush, both her Ancestral Tomahawk and Bleeding Edge Attack Actions will cut through her foes like naïve entrepreneurs who don’t read the fine print. Normally lingering around Condor Rails’ headquarters in Ridley is Sovereign, Anya’s giant construct condor and totem. Whether statuesque and silent during board room meetings or thunderous and violent during confrontations, Sovereign is always a looming threat. The damage of its Menacing Claws will leave enemies devastated, and his Thunderstruck will leave his enemies… well, thunderstruck. That’s it from us this week. We have been working steadily on an upcoming boardgame and we need your help to make it awesome. If you like games that are epic, challenging, and spooky, then this game might be up your alley! To take part in this game’s playtest, you’ll need a copy of Tabletop Simulator on Steam (it’s a lot easier for us to make changes and provide components, as well as a lot easier on your wallet – printer ink is expensive!) and a Wyrd Forum account so you can stay up to date on the latest changes (the forums are also where you’ll post reports and feedback). If you are interested in participating in the playtest, please fill out this form (and the NDA attached) with all the relevant information. You can ignore the questions for Malifaux, Through the Breach, and The Other Side. We are looking for dedicated playtesters who will be active, provide frequent and constructive feedback, and are willing to play the game for an extended period. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo thought it would be a good idea to stretch his legs and go on a hiking adventure. As it turns out, combining his three least favorite things (the great outdoors, spider webs, and walking) does not equal a good time. That, and what he thought was his inner restless spirit beckoning out to him was just some mild indigestion. So while he rests his knees and eats some trail mix, let’s take a look at two characters that have been a part of the Malifaux world for some time and are finally making their way into the game with the release of the Explorer’s Society! Jessie Halliday was first introduced into the world of Malifaux in an early Chronicles story, where she was exploring the Bayou as an excited (and slightly naïve) botanist. Players who picked up the most recent Ten Thunders book might also recognize her from Lost and Found, where she and McCabe find their way into some ancient territory. Her Soulstone Flares are lighting her way into Third Edition with her being introduced as a versatile character within the Explorer’s Society. If you’re fighting against a Marker-reliant crew (or need to generate some Markers of your own), her Archaeological Dig action will help set the pace. Joining her is a Through the Breach fan favorite, the Alpinist! First introduced in Northern Aggression, this little robotic goat aids initiate explorers climb into (or out of!) the most precarious positions. If anything is certain, his opponents will never forget the sound of his Unintelligible Screaming. Trekking alongside them in the upcoming Wanderlust box is another versatile model: the Bellhop Porter. During long journeys, members of the Society tend to carry a lot of luggage, so they developed a construct who makes sure they’re well taken care of – in dapper style, of course. The Explorer’s Society Wanderlust box will be coming out shortly after the release of the Explorer’s Society Faction book. Sadly, no. Design and writing of a TTB is only one half to an expansion's book development. Production is next! We'll have news about its release date soon. The good news is that we do have something spooky in store for TTB players shortly. Stay tuned!

We haven't made any announcements for what's next for Through the Breach. Right now we're focused on delivering this wonderfully monstrous expansion book first.

It's awesome to see the excitement for From Nightmares. The Through the Breach expansion book has been in development for a long time now, and we recently wrapped up both design and playtesting on the project. We'll have more news about From Nightmares soon. For those who have recently signed up for Through the Breach playtesting, we'll have some One Shots and Penny Dreadfuls available for playtesting in the near future, and will keep you posted for help on those projects.
