  1. Earthside Echoes is back with part two of Trial by Fire! Episode 15: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/earthside-echoes-15/
  2. Hey Wyrdos, Last week, we revealed the release window for our highly anticipated beat’em up racing game, Bayou Bash (for those who missed it – it’s June of this year! Really!). As many of you might have noticed in last week’s announcement, Bayou Bash now has custom meeples to represent the racers in the game instead of miniatures, which we’ve shown off in the past at conventions. At its heart, Bayou Bash is a light and chaotic racing game that takes about an hour to play. Players will bash their opponents (and their fans!) onto rocks, into pools of water, and off the track. Because of the physicality, speed, and lightheartedness of the game, we wanted to make sure that players of all types could enjoy the game without having to pay for the extra cost of miniatures. But what if you really want those miniatures? Well, today, we have some exciting news! The Malifaux Bayou Starter Box will come with the 4 characters from the Bayou Bash board game, and will be compatible with both Malifaux and Bayou Bash! In addition to the miniatures and stat cards, the Bayou Starter will also come with its own Bayou-themed Fate Deck and measuring widget. (For reference, the miniatures and meeples are both to scale to each other in each image) Let’s take a look at Fluffernutter, the Rabbit, and how he and his jockey will play in both Malifaux and Bayou Bash. In Malifaux, all of the Bayou Starter models will have the Jockey keyword, another keyword in the Faction (in this case, Wizz-Bang), and the Versatile characteristic, which will allow for a ton of flexibility in crewbuilding. Fluffernutter is a fast-moving, Evasive Enforcer with a few tricks up his sleeve (particularly his Pulled from a Hat and Magic Act triggers!). And in Bayou Bash, the Rabbit will cause all sorts of havoc to those around him. He’ll make sure that even the most sure-footed of racers will stagger into unexpected places while bolting toward the finish line. Bayou Bash the board game will be hitting store shelves in June, and the Malifaux Bayou Starter Box will be available in the following month. We’ll have more news about Bayou Bash and the Malifaux Bayou Starter Box as we get closer to their releases!
  3. Yep, you can build the track however you want. The game will come with a bunch of track pieces (straight pieces and curves) that are double-sided with different obstacles on each side. The loop track in the image above is just an example of what you can build.
  4. In the latest episode of Chronicles, In the Pursuit of Happiness, we meet Sticky Bill, a petty thief with an unusual talent for escape. But in Malifaux, you must be careful whom you steal from. Episode 18: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/chronicles-18/
  5. Yep, there are still lots of dice to toss, actions to gain fans (and destroy opponents), and tons of shenanigans along the way.
  6. For those who are wondering: there won't be miniatures in the Bayou Bash board game (but the Malifaux Bayou Starter Box models can be used for anyone who wants to bring the game to that level). Bayou Bash is a fast-paced board game where most races take about an hour - just enough time to rebuild the track however you want and start again. We decided to go with custom meeples for Bayou Bash so that players of all types can enjoy the experience of the rapid and chaotic gameplay without having to pay for the extra cost of miniatures. We'll have more details soon!
  7. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we’re too excited to even pay attention to Waldo. So while he’s off doing whatever it is that he does when we look the other way, we’d like to make a very special announcement: It’s coming. No, really this time. Seriously. The long-awaited beat-‘em-up racing game, Bayou Bash, will be releasing June 2021 for just $55. Between now and its release, we’ll be covering how to play Bayou Bash, each racer and their many unique antics, and more. Stay tuned!
  8. The Special Order program is specifically for new models that have been packaged with old models.
  9. Both the tokens and the widget are made out of a high quality punch board.
  10. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo decided to make the best of the cold weather by trying out a new hobby: snowboarding! As soon as we explained that Georgia hasn’t gotten any snow this year, the idea went downhill real fast. So, while Waldo hits the slopes, let’s take a detailed look at a Malifaux Starter Box! For Malifaux Third Edition, one of our design goals was to make sure that the game was easy to get into for new and returning players alike. We are continuing that trend by releasing a Starter Box for each Faction, starting with the Explorer’s Society. Each Starter Box will include Versatile characters (and at least one Versatile Henchman) that can be used with any crew in that Faction. A Starter Box can get players immediately playing Henchman Hardcore, or can be treated as a strong foundation to start building a crew for a 50 Soulstone game. Models included in each Starter Box will come preassembled so you can start playing as soon as you open up the box. For the Explorer’s Society, players will have access to: Mr. Ngaatoro, a hard-hitting Henchman with a few tricks up his sleeve; Tannenbaum, a Versatile (and Seeker) Enforcer with the unique ability to Rewrite the Story, which allows him to replace a Scheme that isn’t going as planned; and two Hopeful Prospects, who are Versatile Minions that can adapt to almost any situation after getting a lucky shot on their opponent. But to get started in Malifaux, we know that it takes more than just putting models on the table. In each Starter Box, we are including their stat cards, 2 copies of each Explorer’s Society General Upgrade, a brand new Fate Deck, a measuring widget, and a handful of 30mm tokens, all of which are themed to that Starter Box’s Faction. Let’s take a look at the widget and Fate Deck that will be included with the Explorer’s Society Starter Box: The measuring widget will have sides for just about everything you’ll need to move or draw range, as well as a 50mm indent to help with Blasts. Each Starter Box will also have a unique Fate Deck styled with that Faction’s colors and characters. These Fate Decks won’t be available anywhere else! The Explorer’s Society Starter Box will be hitting local store shelves in May for only $45. If you won’t be joining up with the Explorer’s Society, don’t worry – every Faction will eventually get their own Starter Box. We’ll have news on the Bayou and Outcast Starter boxes soon! That’s it from us!
  11. In part two of A Warm Welcome, Cornelius and Bernadette attempt to track down the Cult of December and bring them to justice. Episode 130: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/breachside-broadcast-tales-of-malifaux-130/
  12. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we found Waldo napping in the office. When we woke him up to ask him why he’s sleeping in the middle of the day, he said he spent the morning trying to start his own country, but his procrastination got the best of him. So while we recover from that lazy joke, let’s take a peek into the Bestiary of our next big Through the Breach expansion, which comes out this month! The Lackadays is a new Nightmare and Woe Minion in the upcoming Through the Breach Neverborn book, From Nightmares. Considered by some as the one of the most insidious of Woes, these spirits of apathy and ennui will drain away inspiration from the Fated until there’s nothing left. How will the Fated fight against an enemy who cares less about the battle than they do? For starters, we can take a look at some of the actions and abilities that are at their disposal: Despite the Lackadays not having a care in the world, we can’t wait to pit players up against these indifferent spirits. There are still a ton of new beasts and baddies for Fatemasters to use at their disposal in the latest Through the Breach expansion, but to find out more, you’ll have to get yourself a copy! Pre-orders for From Nightmares are available now at your local game store and will be hitting store shelves soon. That’s it from us! See you next week.
  13. We return to Earthside Echoes with part one of Trial by Fire! Episode 14: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/earthside-echoes-14/

  15. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we found Waldo in a not-so-empty office, as it was filled from floor to ceiling with foam fingers from every sporting event you could think of. While we appreciate him finally abiding by the new rule we had to enforce (“No bones, corpses, or anything resembling the undead in the office”), it clearly didn’t stop Waldo from following in The Damned’s footsteps in trying to become immortal. Based on the incoherent screaming, we’re guessing that it isn’t going so well. So while we figure out what to do with all of this cut-up foam, let’s take a look at another upcoming Seeker (and Savage!) model, The Damned! “He ordered their tongues cut out so none could challenge his throne…” It pulled itself from a frozen tomb in the Northern Hills with twisted claws. Emaciated flesh hung from its bones; a rack of horns grew from a skull more animal than man. It took only a little mote of life to bring this lost creature back from the dead. The Damned’s first encounter with Jedza ended in a stalemate; the woman did not die, but without her presence the Damned would return to its frozen tomb. Each wanted something from the other. A tiny finger bone from Jedza allows the Damned to remain alive. If Jedza commands, it must aid her in whatever she asks. Long ago, the Damned was the first to be remade into something more by the Tyrant December. This connection fascinates Jedza, especially since the monster has a darkness inside its long-withered heart: a hatred for December that runs impossibly deep. She shared rumors about a woman with dark hair and pale blue eyes who had managed to survive the Tyrant’s gifts, as the Damned once did. Rage helps guide each new step it takes. It will return to the Northern Peaks. It will consume the magic of December inside His latest vessel and take its rightful place on the peaks. The Damned can only imagine how good her heart will taste. He sure sounds nice. And he looks nice on the table, too. Check out The Damned’s sculpt below: Whether you play Euripides or Jedza, you’ll be able to add The Damned to your crew in May! In the meantime, if you’d like to check out The Damned’s rules and stat cards, you can find them on the Malifaux Crew Builder App. That’s it from us!
  16. In part one of A Warm Welcome, Cornelius Basse and his daughter, Bernadette, receive an offer from the Guild that they can't refuse. Episode 129: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/tales-of-malifaux-129/
  17. Hey Wyrdos, On a lark, Waldo wanted to try out a new hobby: bird watching. Rather than us ruffling his feathers with any potential tips or tricks, he decided to wing it on his own. After owl was said and done, he wouldn’t stop raven about the sights he saw. Despite it clearly being a hoot, Waldo said he was going to quit cold turkey because he didn’t want to put all of his eggs in one basket. Without feather ado, let’s take a look at one of the upcoming Explorer’s Society characters, Austera and Twigge, starting with a look into their story. “When the spring moon passed into the evening sky…” When Jedza passed through the Breach, her curse of life cast out like a net. It dragged and pulled fragments of a shattered body held just inside the Breach, reforming them into a young woman that emerged in Malifaux at Jedza’s side. The girl was gray and dead. An owl, its eyes glowing with brilliant and otherworldly color, rested on her arm. For the first time in ages, Jedza was fascinated. Though the girl was silent, she seemed to acknowledge Jedza’s questions. After many campfires and broken memories, Jedza was able to piece the story together: the girl called herself Austera, and her owl was Twigge. The pair had likely been present when the First Breach opened and became victims of its wild surge of magic. Austera could remember nothing except a boom and a blinding flash, then nothingness. Fear of breaking apart again drove Austera to follow Jedza, but this quickly turned into respect and something akin to friendship. Malifaux’s magic healed the pair over time. Austera has since taken time to explore the wilderness for herself, one soul split between the air and ground. No matter how far they go, the two keep an eye on Jedza as thanks. Without her, they would still be locked in a formless existence between worlds. We can’t wait to get her and the Seeker crew on the table. For those who are already brainstorming on how to paint her and her owl, here’s a bird’s eye view of her sculpt: You won’t have to wait too much longer to get your hands on this fantastic pair. Take Jedza and her Seeker crew to the nest level by swooping up Austera and Twigge in April!
  18. Hey Wyrdos, This week, we wanted to take a closer look into one of the aspects that makes the next Through the Breach expansion book special. In From Nightmares, not only will you have access to tons of new lore, equipment, Pursuits, and monsters to battle against, but you’ll also be able to create a Mimic, Nephilim/Half-Blood, Woe, or Nightmare Fated character using the new Bloodline Tarot character creation system. With new species comes new Talent options called Gifts of Darkness, which is what we’re focusing on today. (you can also find the image above as a wallpaper!) While the Bloodline Tarot allows you to create a human character, today we’re going to focus on the new options available to players and what else they offer during character creation. When choosing a Neverborn species to play, players will have Bloodline Traits to choose from that act as additional characteristics that help further define and differentiate them from other Neverborn Fated characters. For example, all Nephilim would gain Black Blood and a selection of Morphologies (like cloven hooves, horns, fangs, and claws), Nightmares gain immunity to Horror duels, and Mimics can change their appearance with a (0) action. But that's just the beginning. After you have decided on which species of Neverborn your Fated will be (whether by deciding outright or allowing randomness to do the work for you) and decide on some specialized Bloodline Traits based on your decision, continue with the rest of character creation via the Tarot system. You’ll soon reach Step 13: Gifts of Darkness. Neverborn Fated characters have a new pool of unique Talents available to them, tailored to fit what make their chosen species strange and terrifying. So, instead of choosing from the General Talents from the core book or from any of the other previous expansions, Neverborn Fated characters have Gifts of Darkness to choose from. They are also available during character creation based on choices made during the Bloodline Tarot. These Gifts of Darkness are often permanent and usually come along with physical changes to the character. Let’s take a look at some of the options that will be available: General Neverborn Gifts of Darkness Shrouded: The Neverborn are creatures of darkness; in shadows, they watch and wait. This character gains the following talent: Camouflage. This character gains + to Stealth Challenges while in Cover, the wilderness, or while concealed in at least partial darkness or shadow. Attuned to Malifaux: Magic infuses every root and stone in this strange world, and it runs particularly strongly in this character. Select one Transmogrifcation Magia; this character knows that Magia regardless of any Grimoire she carries. Mimic Quick Alteration: This character rapidly changes some portion of herself to better suit the task at hand. This character may discard a card at the start of her activation to add one suit to a Skill she has until the end of her turn. Silvertongue: Lying with every breath is standard fare for Mimics. When making a Deceive Challenge or duel, this character increases her final duel total by half of her Intellect Aspect, rounding up. Woe Negativity: Some Woes surround themselves with depressive auras, helping negative emotions flourish like weeds in a garden. When an enemy character within 3 yards of this character fails a Willpower duel, it suffers 1 damage after resolving the current action. Flickering Form (requires 3+ Gifts of Darkness): This character may discard a card at any time to gain Incorporeal for one round. Nephilim Natural Weapons: Some Nephilim prefer using their wings, horns, and claws when fighting over swords and axes. This character deals +1 damage with Martial Arts or Pugilism attacks if she has the Horns or Cloven Hooves Nephilim Morphologies. Black Blood Pustule: Black blood flows within this character’s veins, so much so that any injury results in caustic, sizzling blood spraying at all nearby attackers. The range of this character’s Black Blood talent is increased by +1 yard. Nightmare Now You See Me…: Creatures that frequently pass between worlds have learned to act quickly. After being returned to reality (such as being Unburied or being placed from Fade Away), this character may resolve a 1 AP action. If this is a Strike, it must be resolved against the closest character. Sleep Paralysis: After resolving a Ranged or Close Combat Attack action against a character with Dazed, Paralyzed, or Asleep Condition(s), this character may elect to end one of those Conditions to deal 2 damage; this character then heals 1 damage. While these new characteristics and gifts make Neverborn characters powerful to play, it’s important to know that there are also some limitations based on the world around you. You try walking past the Guild Enclave with giant wings and see what happens! As with every RPG, make sure that playing a Neverborn character fits with your campaign. If you’re in a campaign that is focusing on zombies from Under Quarantine, maybe reconsider making a Nephilim character (because they’re generally not too keen on the Dread Art). But if you’re navigating through the Knotwoods or battling against those who stumbled on your world by strolling through a magical breach, have at it! And those are just the tips of the ice pillars for Neverborn characters in Through the Breach. From Nightmares will be available in February, so make sure to get your pre-orders in at your local game stores now!
  19. In There's Something About Molly, we catch up with Molly Squidpiddge and Philip Tombers who, despite being very dead, still have plenty of ambitions, desires, and resentments. Episode 17: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/chronicles-17/
  20. Hey Wyrdos! If there’s one thing Malifaux is known for, it’s stories. Whether they’re tall tales told around a Badlands campfire, a rumor getting spread in the Quarantine Zone, or a Woe entertaining her children, infamy and legend can make or break anyone in Malifaux. In the case of Ella Mae Chesterfield, sometimes, you gotta be the one to spread your story. Read on to get the low-down on one of Malifaux’s most grudge-holding gunslingers in this free Augment for Through the Breach: So, what’s inside, you might ask? Well, let’s take a look: Background on the Chesterfield Company and their infamous “cursed” Chesterfield 1879 rifles. Profiles for Ella Mae Chesterfield, a master gunsmith who hates the Guild with a passion, and Skuller, her refitted Hunter construct bodyguard. Chesterfield Modifications, which can make your Fated’s ranged weapons deadlier. Legend says any gun Ella Mae refits manages to send bullets right into the heart of anyone working with the Guild… for a bloody price. You can download this agument for FREE by either visiting the TTB Augments page or by clicking this link. That’s all for this week, Wyrdos. What do you think of Ella Mae? Is her grudge deserved? Will she be making an appearance in your campaign? Let us know!

  24. In the conclusion of Formaldehyde Nights, McMourning and Sebastian see how long they can maintain their ruse. Episode 16: http://www.breachsidebroadcast.com/e/chronicles-16/
  25. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo is recovering from his family visit, which screwed up his sleeping schedule. After Krampus took Waldo’s favorite sleep mask to count some sheep, our little dark imp just hasn’t been the same. So, while Waldo tries to quell his own nightmares, let’s reveal a nightmare of our own! From Nightmares, that is! From Nightmares is the upcoming expansion book for Through the Breach, our card-flipping, Fate-changing RPG set in the Malifaux universe. With this book, players will be able to explore the world of Malifaux like never before. Trudge through the gnarled and twisted forest of the Knotwoods, discover ancient rituals performed by lost Nephilim, and walk amongst the humans while wearing a new skin, all through the eyes of a Neverborn. With From Nightmares, Fated characters can now finally play as various Neverborn species through the new Bloodlines Tarot system. Whether you’ve always wanted to play as a Mimic, Nephilim/Half-Blood, Woe, or Nightmare (with more options available the more advanced you go; one does not simply become a Puppetmaster or Supplicant to the Autumn Queen overnight), these dark paths are now available at the flip of a card (or, you know, a personal choice if you don’t want to suits to define your way). When choosing a Neverborn species, players will also have a new Talent pool to pull from, called Gifts of Darkness, which represent the natural gifts that the world of Malifaux has bestowed upon them. But that’s not the only way to customize your character. As with our previous Through the Breach expansions, From Nightmares provides a plethora of new Pursuits and Advanced Pursuits for players to fulfill their darkest desires. The Boogeymen stalk and watch from the shadows, using fear and observation to bring down their targets. The Harrowed are devoted to protecting those they consider part of their community or tribe. The Manifester can make a simple thought a reality, creating physical objects from their own nightmares. The Cutthroat reads their enemies like a book and wear them down with parrying until an opportune time presents itself to strike back. The Breachburned dwell partly in the physical world and in the aether all around us, using magical anchors to bind segments of magic for a short time. The Behemoth prefers to let their natural strength and heavy weapons do the talking. And Painkillers walk a thin line between life and death, as each drop of blood spilled drives them into a violent frenzy. When it comes to creating a character with From Nightmares and deciding which Pursuit you’d like to try first, you can always still go with human instead, but you’ll be leaving those Gifts of Darkness on the table and using the more traditional Talents from the Core Book or other expansion books. This allows players a ton of flexibility to create characters based on the worlds and stories that they want to dive into, whether it’s on the streets of Malifaux City or deep into the vast unknown expanse of the Wildlands. There’s still plenty to discover in the upcoming expansion book, ranging from lore, magic, equipment, and a brand new bestiary filled with tons of creepy creatures. To find out more about From Nightmares, such as the many mysteries left untold in the history of Malifaux, or the varied Advanced Pursuits that may become available to the Fated should they decide to walk certain paths, make sure to pre-order the physical book! From Nightmares comes out in February 2021. We’ll see you then!
