I vote Lady Justice to tier 2. After book 5 i mostly play Justice and with new upgrades she is incredible! Once your opponent made a mistake he is dead and Justice has damn good Wd 14 so she is kinda forgivable.

I agree, I feel that a lot of people underestimate her staying power now. She now has te place so she can move to a better position, and gets + to def and riposte (agreed, it is on df5, but little things with ml5 are going to think twice before hitting her). She has a lot of access to healing and her wound pool of 14 wounds plus soulstone use makes it that she requires some dedicated damage models to focus on her to put her down in one turn.

She is also very good in punishing an opponents mistake with her great mobility (thank you brutal emissary).

Though I agree that she is less flexible than a lot of the masters that are on tier 2 and higher. Her way of scoring is for a large part denying the opponent from scoring by killing them.

Right now Misaki is either a discount Sonnia or a discount Lady Justice and both of them are safer (Lady J Swordfighter) and easier to pull off, while having thesame level of threat and damage. I really have difficulty seeing as to why Misaki can't be allowed a nice thing that would make her our second S+ master while still not being overly oppressive.

Misaki as a discount LJ. She works quite a bit differently, especially with her storm upgrade. Though I do think LJ is better, she's indeed a lot more resilient once she goes in, especially if she brings her friends.

Did I tell you about my witchling stalker who has occupied my desk for 2 years and a half? XD Even after I moved out, he was still there. At least, he has not been alone all this time; he has a trapper next to him, giving him company.

Well, it's not that bad, I got the recruiters when they came out, so that's more than a year ago.

@Joachim very nice brushwork as always....very much like your recruiters and Abuela's sombrero still knocks me out....

Thanks man. Great tip for the rust, I'll definitely try that out. I've also used this rust effect on the weapons of the recruiters and the emissary, as I think it really fits the marshals theme.

  4. I got my guild models done this month. Unfortunately they were supposed to be put on the table this sunday, but an event got cancelled at the last minute which was unfortunate.

Though it still had the effect to make me finish some of my guild models who were sitting on my paint table for a lot longer that I would have hoped. So this month I finished abuela (7ss), 2 death marshal recruiters (7ss+ 7ss) and brutal effigy (4ss) for a total of 25ss @Franchute.

Painting guild models I've gotten quite a bit better at painting trench coats 😛 and I'm very pleased with how these turned out. I now noticed that I messed up one eye of the recruiter, but I'll touch that up later. I've also tried some rust effects on abuelas wheelchair, but I'm not really pleased with it. Does anyone have some tips for rust effects?

There is still some time this month which I'll probably use to continue my Kirai crew. I'm finally gonna field it in 2 weeks after receiving it as a birthday gift from @whodares last July :p? That's what you get for trying to field pained crews.

Yasunori can be killed throughout the game, while suited riders are rather hard to kill from Turn 3 onwards.

Rest assured, a lot of things in the game can bypass the riders defenses. Things that ignore triggers, ignore armor reduction, blast damage, pulses and auras. 10 wounds without soulstone use only gets you so far. They become very resilient late game but there are answers to any type of defence in this game.

Another blast user Rasputina attacks from 24" (Ice Mirror) and with damage track 3/5/6 with Ice Gamin. The only advantage of Misaki over these two ladies now is that she can put blasts not touching each other which can be handled easily with right positioning.

That is a huge thing. An experienced player will not position so that you can hit half of his crew. Though I will not argue that rasputina is not strong.

They took it down from 12" to 8", so 4" range difference. That's quite a big deal.

Blasts are already great offense since it bypasses a lot of defenses.

The things that protect against blasts are spreading out and armor. Placing blasts within 12" almost completely negates the ability to position/defend against it. A circkle with a radius of 12" is huge. 8" is still plenty and still makes it hard for the opponent to position safely.

    1. For me a Rider works with the stacking mechanic and costs 10 stones, thesame as the other Riders.

    2. Misaki just got hit with the nerf-bat which went too far imo

    3. (summonable rider-like models are fine? I want to summon Yasunori too ...)

    1. So by your definition the mechanical rider is not a rider as she costs 12ss?

    😛

    2. I haven't faced Misaki so I can't truly judge this, though I think Misaki wave 5 initially was a bit over the top (though I won't argue that there aren't a lot of really strong stuff out there, looking at you nicodem with your stable of kentauroi). I think it is still very strong, and I also think she is designed as a very risky very aggressive model and I think that is represented well in how she's turned out.

    3. Kentauroi are very good, don't get me wrong, but how are they riderlike (wk6, cg10 ?, cause the lone marshal and mounted guard also have this, it is quite general for mounted models) since they lack the scaling mechanic. And they're definitely no yasunori :).

  9. Yeah, definetly. Every mechanic has counterplay. Its also just a 4 inch aura so pushing him out of positon. Even placing a big based model in between blocks the aura.

The crew operates fine without the synnergies though.

  10. I've played three games yesterday against @whodares and i was pretty pleased with results.

    I've played the following list:

    Judge

    -debt to the guild

    Jury

    Death marshal recruiter

    Brutal effigy

I won all of the 3 games and the crew worked really well. I was surprised with all of the synnergy between these models. Jury is just such a solid model at 8 stones. She does so many different things. With 5 stones i was also surprised by the judges resillience. Especially with jury and effigy heals as well as htk aura.

Conclusion: this may not be the most optimal crew but it is thematic and has a lot of synnergy, so it is really fun and straight forward to play.

  11. @Chou Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it! I would disagree that it is crazy skill. It is actually not as hard as it looks. Though I agree it takes a bit of practice to go from "just" coloring and highlighting a model and to go to some free-hand work. I guess it is just a lot of practice and trial and error. If you could see all the failed attempts at free-hand ... 😛

It's actually a pattern that repeats itself and it gives a really awesome effect when you look at it from a distance.

@JoachimI'm sure you've seen this excellent dia de los muertos crew, which is just wonderful... On the other hand, yours is much more colourful - beautifully so. Loving the Abuela sombrero. My Perdita crew are done as Steampunk English Gentry, but I really want to redo them as Scots...

Yeah I did and it is pretty amazing. I did go for another style, and the goal is to use very bright colors.

  13. I'm playing my first henchman hardcore games next week at an event.

I'm thinking of running Judge + recruiter + death marshal + effigy.

My model pool is quite limited:

    Lady J box

    Executioner

    Riflemen

    DM recruiter

    Lone marshal

    Effigy

    Abuela

    Emissary

    Jury

    Questions:

    1. What upgrades would you guys run? Badge of office seems good because of ETL, but it is also quite expensive.

    2. What crew would you guys field based on my model pool? I think the recruiter does work because of the hard to kill aura, and the death marshal can come in clutch by burrying someting important.
