  1. So, the model was primed white at first, @helldrad? Interesting, will have to see how that's gonna look on a primed black Luna. So you did one diluted base coat of Mournfang Brown, then used a diluted layer of black as a wash? Then black strips, then diluted layers of Mournfang Brown?
  2. Some more: Wastrels - the Wastrel with the sideburns leaning on his pickaxe is clearly a reference to Alex DeLarge, the main character in "A Clockwork Orange". Heh, I guess that the Guilty minion from the "Guilty As Charged" starter box, the one on the chair, is also somewhat of a resemblance? Sidhir Alchibal - Captain Nemo I/Prince Dakkar from "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" Seamus, Resurrectionist Avatar of Dread - Mr. Hyde from "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" Steam Chest - possibly based on The Luggage from Sir Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series Insidious Madness - possibly based on Tzeentch's Pink Horror daemons from Warhammer 40,000 or the Gibbering Mouther monsters from DnD/Pathfinder fame.
  3. Ash upon your tongue! Baba Yaga is an Eastern Slavic Myth, not a Russian one... big difference there.
  4. Huh, I remember reading this some time ago and I had THOUGHT I had executed it correctly, though reading this again and double-checking the pictures I now see that I have done something a little different. You see, for added durability and rule of cool, the faction symbols on the Malifaux boxes pretty much fit perfectly on your typical Wyrd-issue 30mm base. Just cut it out until you just have the black faction symbol and the white background (without the faction-specific colored border). It will be a 99% fit, you'll just have to shrink it a bit. Use some superglue. Then paint the edge of the base your faction symbol and you now have a cool Scheme marker that will last you forever. It's not AS easy, but the final product is super cool.
  5. That's alright, @MrDeathTrout, I'm glad you noticed it, and can't wait for your tips. I also really liked @helldrad's brindled Luna from a few years ago. Hopefully he doesn't mind me uploading a picture for reference.
  6. @athelu, yeah, I also like @MrDeathTrout's hounds, and I even messaged him about how he went about painting them a few days ago, but it seems like he hasn't been active since October of '16. ;( I really like the vibrant colors. I'm especially interested in specific paints used as well. I mostly use the Citadel range.
  7. It's just like the title says. I've been looking for inspiration and guides on painting my Guild Hounds and Luna for my McCabe list and I'm at a loss. I really like the models, but can't decide on what to do with them, especially their fleshy canine bits. I've seen people paint them like rotwailers before to a good final result, but I'm a bit scared and lost. They are some of my favorite models and are very important to me. Any specific painting guides, schemes and visuals would be much appreciated here. Hopefully this is the right place for this conundrum.
  8. Is Nellie's Propaganda push 5'' (from Guilt trigger) + a free (1) Ml attack (from Angry Mob trigger) worth doing by pushing the target into a Clockwork Trap (or two)? I mean, SURE, there are some pretty sweet targets out there for the Angry Mob trigger, but a Clockwork Trap would be able to do its free (1) attack (Trapping Jaw) from Angry Mob, and then the Trapping Jaw attack because an enemy model ended a push within 2" of it. That's two Ml 5/Df attack with a 1/2/3 spread and a cool trigger. Plus, a Wk 13 Duel next turn or get Slow. Or, use Nellie's Hot off the Presses! ability to place someone next to a Scheme Marker next to a Clockwork Trap. Scheme Marker pops to do Burning +3, then Clockwork Trap attacks. ALTERNATIVELY, you can Hot off the Presses your own Clockwork Trap to put him in the midst of a pile of enemies. Trap is immune to Conditions, so now Burning damage for him...
  9. A few little tidbits on Sidhir. When I first started using McCabe's box, I quickly dismissed Sidhir as too expensive, and very, very slow. When I started adding models to the fray, I ended up putting to the side. Until yesterday. Yesterday I got Make them Suffer, Breakthrough and Reconnoiter. Against Gremlins, Mah Tucket. Ran McCabe with the Glowing Saber, Badge of Speed, and Promises. Sidhir with his personal upgrade. Two hounds, Luna. Strongarm Suit. Sidhir is great with Make them Suffer - not only is he pretty good at killing stuff with his Sh7 machine gun, he is also not too shabby with his blade (especially when near McCabe for Promises), and he can kill stuff even out of activation with his defensive Riposte. Thing about Sidhir is, he's a lot of points, and he is very, very slow. Walk 4 gets you nowhere, and you really want to be where all the action is. Thankfully, McCabe can push him, give him Nimble AND Reactivate, which is very powerful. All of a sudden, Sidhir can move a whole lot and pepper things with his Machine Gun and Empty the Magazine. Against Gremlins I love to Empty the Magazine mid-turn. Trixibelle cheating a card for initiative puts them at 5 cards, and by mid-turn they are almost out of cards to cheat with, so Empty the Magazine can be pretty effective at slowing everyone down and doing some light damage. It empties hands as well. Before it's Reactivation time, you can get pretty far into enemy territory with Sidhir, even use By Your Side to place him forward to taunt and challenge your opponent to charge him with an almost empty hand (hopefully). Then you'll get to do even more damage, and any damage you might take, you can heal on his next activation. I saw Mah Tucket charge Sidhir Turn 1. Two of her charge attacks missed on him, one Riposte got through for 2 damage. Her third attack she targeted a Guild Hound, Sidhir intervened with By Your Side, took the hit, it missed (I had a good hand, he had a bad hand), Riposte hit for another 2. Some Soulstones were burned to prevent the damage. Sidhir then "reactivated" and hit Mah twice, and a Hound companioned to do some more damage. Turn 2 I got the initiative and McCabe killed Mah Tucket. Not too shabby.
  10. I played a game with Zipp using the local Henchman's models, and at a 35as game I had some success with a Wild Boar. Now, I'm a new player, so take that with a grain of salt, but the boar was awesome against all his various summoned creatures (he played Leveticus). Between Earl and Zipp, you have tons of ways to deliver the Wild Boar, making sure to give him a good charge lane. Neck, you can use from the Shadows to put him behind a building, and then Up We Go from Zipp to "place" him on the other side, and chances are he'll end up healing most of the damage anyways. Additionally, his positive twist on Attacks out of his Activation means that he's really good at denying movement, while Zipp and his Sky Pirates are dominating the field with their superior speed. In Scheme heavy games, you can really abuse all the pushes to make sure the Wild Boar gets to use his 0 push 4'' next to a Scheme and eat it ability, cause it's rather good, and it even works well with the First Mate.
  11. Green, white, red. So festive! Looking good. Merry Christmas, buddy.
  12. Brutal Emissary was surprisingly good in a Henchman Hardcore today. It was a 4 way, and I used him as my Enforcer alongside Sidhir (Promises and By Your Side) as the Leader, and 2 Wastrels. Every model had some way to be healed. Sidhir could heal himself every turn, the Emissary had the AoE Slow and Heal aura, as well as the + on Attacks aura. Not to mention the Wastrels being able to heal. Being able to do Cast Offs, discard to pick suit for the blast Pistol shot and then executive it with two positive twists (one inherent and one from the Conflux upgrade) is pretty gross. Never Bluff... Is also pretty gross under the effect of Promises. I was able to keep it going with the positive twist from Promises, always declaring the built in suit. Had a nice pile 4 enemies, all within 4 inches of the Emissary. Needless to say, after spending both of his AP to deliver a total of 8 shots with positive twists I felt quite accomplished...and went through most of my deck. Make sure the Black Joker is out before You do that! I was lucky. This is a very powerful build for anything like Protect Territory or Line in the Sand or Bodyguard. Sidhir can actually hide behind the Emissary and use his By Your Side upgrade to take a shot and keep up with the faster Brutal Emissary.
  13. Good to hear! Is it possible to reupload the pictures or make sure that they are visible? I'd like to give the battle reports a second read with the proper visuals.
  14. It's a shame they stopped writing after Week 1.
  15. Do my own Trapper traps count as me doing damage (since they were created and placed there by me, they aren't a minion, just a contraption) for the benefits of the Hunter general talent (from Quarantine), which states that whenever I do damage to Beasts, I get a positive twist on the damage flip? Additionally, what's the limit on traps? I mean, nowhere does it say how many I may place at a time (like the Pathfinder model in Malifaux, whose Clockwork Traps are Rare 4), or if the traps are supposed to use materials worth a certain amount of scrip? With the proper talents, I can do 2 traps a turn with General AP, and discard to drop a 3rd trap as a 0 Action.
